Yearbook: Beautiful

Hey CK friends! I’m here to share my third project made using the beautiful April 2017 Jellybean Kit. For today’s layout I wanted to document a photo with flowers, so I thought in the flower’s paper that came in the kit.

What I’ve done was fussy cut some of the flowers, and put them on the left side of my page. Then, around the flowers I created a cluster of embellishments, including enamel shapes, some leaves cuts, etc.

Here are some close-ups:

My title for this layout was “beautiful”. I chose it because the flowers of the photo are just beautiful. I don’t like so much to take flowers photos but I this one just stole my heart.

The journaling is about where I took the photo and how much I love that place.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. And don’t forget to document those simple things or moments that we have in our lives.

Happy Sunday!

Geek Lab with Hannah

Blog Image_Geek Lab

Aloha!! It’s Hannah here with you today.  The fresh and bold colors in the “Jelly Bean” April Kit have me thinking about Spring. Where I live it’s still pretty green and damp. It has me dreaming about my flower bed from the summer and all the beautiful colors they wore proudly. I knew this kit and the exclusive flower cut file would fit perfectly together to make an awesome layout.

Maybe by making a layout about my flowers will entice them to grow faster! If only scrapbooking brought on the season change and made the weather behave?!! While I dream about wearing old sneakers and dirty garden gloves, lets take a look at what I created.

IMG_3751

I really wanted to go BOLD so I used my silhouette to cut the exclusive floral cut file with pattern paper. The cut file is really intricate so it really helps this busy paper pop. The flowers come alive. It will work well on my layout because I am using white cardstock that I made several stripes with dark grey acrylic paint. The color against the dark and white really help them stand out.

I cut one set of flowers big and left them open. I also cut a couple of other sets in plain white cardstock.  I like to use smooth cardstock with my cut files. I find they look better and the thicker quality helps them hold up better in the silhouette. These smaller sets I backed with some of my left over “Paint Me” patterned paper and some of the dotted vellum. I used some tiny staples in gold from my tiny attacher to attach and hold the paper together. I wanted to create shadows by attaching them this way. I wanted the cut file to lift up a bit from the paper to add dimension too.

To me this really helps makes an impact on a layout when you use dimension and shadows in your favor. The bright colors in this kit and paper really help with that as well.

I used 3 3×4 size photos that I matted with white cardstock. With all the color in the cut file and in my photos I didn’t want to go crazy. I also knew I would finish off the layout with some splatters of the Shimmerz Acri-tonez Paints.

IMG_3761

I added a couple of the cut aparts from the “Daily Details” Paper for some extra layers. I love the writing on them it’s so fun and said perfectly how I felt. The gold foil on some of the cards is gorgeous and I couldn’t help myself not to use that on this layout.

I lightly embellished this page. The color and intricacy of the cut file really helped fill the page up. I used a few of the Freckled Fawn foam word phrase stickers. They are really fun. I also added some of the Bella Blvd Puffy Stickers and Epoxy Stickers from the Clique Store.  These stickers add just the right amount of extra color to tie my layout together.

IMG_3762

For the title I used the Elle Studio White Alphas and one of the Heidi Swapp Acetate words in gold. I love when I have word phrases in my kits to help me with my title. I don’t really mind if I don’t have the most thought out title. As long as it helps capture the feelings I have when I see my photo that’s all that matters to me. I know I will have journaling somewhere on my layout eventually so my family and I can remember all my thoughts about these photos.

Though truth be told, I just really enjoy taking photos of my gorgeous flowers. They are all mine and they are beautiful! I just want to remember how beautiful they are, especially during the middle of the winter when it has been raining for ten days straight and you can see your breathe when you wake up in the morning. It’s times like this I want to remember there is color and beauty that grows right in my own back yard. I don’t need a fancy title this time for that!

IMG_3763

To finish off my layout I added Freckled Fawn enamel dots and shapes around my cut file. That is intact what I want my eye to go to first when I look at this layout. I added the year for a date with more of the White Alphas by Elles Studio. Since the date really isn’t important I don’t need it to stand out. I also finished by adding splatters with the Shimmerz Acri-tonez Paints. I just let the paint fall out of the bottle as I lightly squeezed it. I really love the look it gave adding them this way. The paint made really raised spots around my layout and have great dimension. I made sure I put my layout off to the side while it dried so the paint didn’t get touched, or settle down.

I hope you are inspired today to create different looks using just one cut file. It really makes a cut file be versatile when you can get different looks just by changing a few things, like color, shape and what is behind the cut file itself.

Have a great day and I hope you are excited about playing with your April “Jelly Bean” Kit when it shows up at your door. When it does arrive be sure to tag us and share what you creating with your kit!!

Also Check Out my Process Video on the Clique Kits Youtube Channel for more details on how I made this fun layout.

Art Studio: Love

artstudioheader

Hello everyone. I hope that your New Year has been off to a great start. I can’t complain too much. So far, 2016 has been wonderful! I got to go to CHA with the Clique Kit girls and it was such a blast. I am so honored that the girls asked me to go. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do! Who wouldn’t, right?!

Here’s a simple layout that I created using the fabulous mist that came with the February “Hot Mess” kit. I love how vibrant the yellow is against the white cardstock. It’s so pretty. Also, I really like the acetate paper that came with the kit. The circles are so much fun. Once my mist was dry, I cut the acetate paper and stapled it to the cardstock so that the yellow peaked through.

Here are a few close-ups. I love all of the little details on this layout. Everything came together so nicely.

Document the Little Moments

blog-image_yearbook

Hey everyone Erica here with you today and I hope you are all having a fabulous day!  Today I have a layout to share and the photo I am documenting is not from any special event or any big day in our lives but just a small moment in time I wanted to capture with my youngest son Eli James!  Now from the picture you would think it is just a silly selfie of myself and Eli just hanging out!  Well in a way yes…on this day all 4 of Eli’s older brothers and sister were off to school.  It was just the two of us and Izzy our boxer at home!  Now this is very new to us and we are adjusting to this new schedule.  I of coarse am loving all the one on one time with Eli but he sure does miss his big brother Gavin so much!  Eli and I were out on our steps waiting for the bus to arrive!  He just could not wait for the kids to get home!  I snapped a photo real quick to remember this sweet little moment!

IMG_2099

Photographing the big events is something we all do but remember to also get those small moments.  The little bits in time that we will always want to remember like waiting for the bus, taking your little one to get his favorite ice cream and watching it melt all over, holding hands, toys all over the floor, the way your husband sleeps!  These tiny moments that we all just may look over and not think to capture but will one day wish we had photographed it!  Well now is the time!  Get those little moments on film and get them scrapped!

IMG_2096

I used the new Dear Lizzy Documentary collection for my layout and the papers are just gorgeous!  You can find a paper pack in the Clique Kits shop along with a few other items from this collection!  I went with  my go to design these days and just layered up a bunch of strips of paper and added my photo!

IMG_2098 IMG_2094

I also added some embellishments from my stash like the Seven Paper Vellum hearts I picked up in the Clique Kits shop last month, some enamel dots and of coarse some Black Velvet Heidi Swapp Color Shine ink splats to finish it off!  This moment is one I do not want to ever forget and I am so glad I will have it in an album for Eli James and the rest of my babies to look back on.  I hope you enjoyed my layout today and I hope you take some time to capture some little moments in your life!  I would love to see them so please share them by tagging Clique Kits or posting them to our Facebook page!

Study Hall-Our Sweet Izzy Girl

StudyHallHello Clique Kits fans!  Erica here with you today to share a layout I created using the wonderful August add ons from the Clique Kits shop.  Now the August kit is super fabulous but I know some of you are still on the waitlist so I wanted to share a layout I created with products you can get in the Clique Kits shop!  Now this layout is documenting our sweet family member Izzy.  She is our boxer and we have only had her about 2 months.  Now let me fill you in on our sweet Izzy and how she became part of our family!  Now I know a lot of you know Sandra aka Oh Snap Gonzo.  Well she had posted on her Facebook that they were looking for a new home for their boxer.  I immediately messaged her and asked why they had to find her a new home and let her know I would love to have her.  Now I live in Illinois and Sandra lives in Tennessee so Ikinda knew this would never happen!  I continued asking about Izzy and I just had this strong feeling about wanting to have her.  I shared her photo with my husband and he also fell in love with her.  Sandra and I messaged back and forth and finally Sandra says if you are serious and really want her lets meet half way!  And that is exactly what we did!  We each drove about 5 hours, stayed overnight in Mt. Vernon Illinois and met up for breakfast the next day and we met our sweet Izzy.  At this time in my life I was still very sad about the passing of my dad.  Honestly I believe he had a some doing in bringing Izzy into our lives.  All my life he has always known my love for dogs and as I child I always had a dog thanks to my dad.  I think he knew Izzy would help heal my heart and help take some of the sadness away.  And she has definitely got my butt out of the bed and back into the swing of things!  She can always tell just when I need her too and she is never to far from me.  The photo I scrapped is our Izzy girl resting her head on my leg while I worked at my computer.  Something she does everyday and I had to snap a photo to document it.  She sure does fit right in with my kids and especially the two young boys who are always at moms side!

IMG_1269 IMG_1274

The papers I used are from the Fancy Pants Summer Sun 6×6 paper pad.  I did add some ink with the packaging technique and also some spatters with my Heidi Swapp mists!  Adding layers in different sizes behind my photo to add interest to my page is something I love to do and it is very simple!  No need to think to much about it just start piling them on!  Once I have all my layers I adhere to my page and begin the fun part of embellishing around my page.  I used some of the Citrus Bliss wood veneers, Pebbles & Simple Stories enamel dots, Seven Paper glitter hearts and Fancy Pants Designs Summer Sun ephemera!  Everything coordinates together so nicely it makes created a page super simple!

IMG_1271 IMG_1266

I hope you enjoyed my layout and story today!  To purchase any August Add ons head on over to the Clique Kits shop!  While you are there make sure to check out the New Products section!  We have added a ton of new products!  Enjoy your day!

Soften Up That Chipboard!

Happy Craft & Hobby Mega Show weekend everyone!  Jody is here on the blog today while Gia, Lacey and Erica and super busy ‘working’ at CHA!! I have to say it sure doesn’t feel like ‘work’ when we totally love what we are doing!!  This has been an amazing year for us for sure!

I am completely in love with our January Kit Tailor Made.  What’s not to love, right?!  Amy Tangerine, Chic Tags, May Arts Ribbon, plus our January Challenge Sponsor Creative Embellishments!!  Here’s my latest layout created with Tailor Made.

Here are some close ups for you!  As you can see, the triangles are white in my layout.  They came a plain brown color but I really wanted them to have a softer look.  I decided to heat emboss them with Ranger White Embossing Power to achieve this look.  It’s very easy to do! All you need to do is to press the chipboard pieces into your Versamark ink pad to get them nice and sticky.  Then, just shake some embossing power of your choice over the pieces and heat set them!

In the photo below you get a much closer look at the little finishing touches I added along the right side of my photo.  I fussy cut a bunch of the little hearts from the super sweet Amy Tangerine paper with all the little watercolor hearts inside the Polaroids.  I also added some teal ink to a few fabulous little Heidi Swapp resist die cuts.  I still wanted to add a little soft sparkle on this layout so I added some 10 mm Moonshine sequins and silver triangle sequins which are not in the kit.  The little photo negative acetate piece is from Tim Holtz (from my stash.)

Study Hall: Playing with Types

StudyHall

I love fonts. I love how each font capture a different mood, a different energy. With word collages being real popular these days, I was inspired to create one about my boy’s love for fruits:

5 Servings, @Colortypes Sophie @ Cliquekits, #cliquekits #scrapbooking #DIY #CKenchantedmeadow

To add a personal touch to the layout, I hand cut the words “EAT” and “HEALTHY” and included my handwriting in some parts of the layout. The ledger puffy stickers from Evalicious were an absolute complement to this college, especially since it the light blue grid design on the fonts make the fonts really pop against the white background.

5 Servings Detail 1

My son was roped in to help complete this layout too. During one of our painting sessions, I got him to do a hand print for me and I like how it provides a visual representation for the no. 5 on this layout.

When creating the “everyday section”, I was delighted that the exact word came as a transparency in my kit. I also decided that those journaling cards from the Echo Park Creative Agenda cut apart paper were too cute not to be included here.

5 Servings Detail 2

After I put all the different font types together, I had fun embellishing with all the amazing ticks and reminders stickers in the kit. And yes, strange but true, the little one actually enjoys eating celery!

And there you have it – a daily health reminder about the importance of eating your fruit and veges! I hope you have fun putting together a college of font types too!

Watt’s Up?

Blog 4

Hello everyone, Marcia here today with some more cards to share with you that I created with the December kit Enchanted Meadow. This week I focused on the light bulb icons and brainstormed card sentiments. Here is what I came up with …

Watt’s Up?
Say Watt?
I Love You a Whole Watt
Be Merry, Be Bright
You’re Brilliant
You Light Up My Life
You Brighten My Day
Your Future is Bright
I Got an Idea… Let’s Be Together.

By layering the project life cards with each other, or with paper scraps I created these. This one will be great as a graduation card …

YourFutureIsBright_CliqueKit_December
This one will be perfect to send to one of my kids in college with a care package.

You'reBrilliant_CliqueKits_December
One for my hubby…Using the clip at the top of the card,  I can attach movie tickets or a gift card to a favorite restaurant inside so we can have a date night!

BrightIdea_CliqueKit_December
I saved my favorite for last, which would be perfect for any of the guys in my life…

Watt'sUp_CliqueKit_December

And I still have more light bulbs in my kit to play with! That washi tape I used on my cards is available in the Clique Store by the way.

Share your light bulb sentiments because I would love to hear them.

Sparkle and Shine – Using the stamp set

blog-4

Hello Clique Kits friends! It’s Marcia here today. I have some cards to share that I created with the Sweet Stamp Shop Sparkle and Shine stamp set that was included in the kit. Since this kit is full of diamond stamps, diamond paper, acrylic diamonds, and even a clique kit exclusive diamond digital cut file, I wanted to brainstorm card ideas (other than wedding which was the first thing that popped into my head). Here are some sentiments I came up with …

“You’re a Gem”

“Congrats on the Shiny New Bling”

“I Think You’re Brilliant”

“You Sparkle & Shine”

“You Rock”

“Rock On”

and my cards using some of these sentiments and the stamps…

Sparkle

On this card I printed the sentiment using my computer and  Microsoft Word software. The font is Lavanderia (one of my favorites) which you can download for free. You can find it here … thefonty.com.  dafont.com is another great source for fonts and explains how to install your new font for different operating systems.

YoureAGem

and one more…

YouRock

Can you think of other diamond sentiments? I would love to hear them!
