Art Studio: Let’s Be Lazy

Good morning everyone! I am back with another mixed media layout. For this layout, I decided to play with a variety of embellishments and printables using the April Clique Kit! I used the Pink Paislee and Bella Blvd. papers for my base. Then I printed this month’s printables on white cardstock and hand-cut the images using a pair of scissors. Once I had the squares adhered and my photo mat adhered to the bottom of the grid, I splashed some mist on to the layout. Once dry, I added the embellishments and photos.

I just love the pretty colors in this month’s kit. And the printables from this month’s kit really compliments the kit so well. The circles at the top was a last-minute decision. I love this patterned paper from Paige Evan’s collection and knew that if I didn’t use the left-over scraps from this paper, it would go in the trash… so I hand-cut them and added them at the top of the layout to create a fun border for the layout. I used one of the Clique Kits exclusive journaling cards to hand-write my journaling.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a wonderful weekend!

Art Studio: Right Now

Hi everyone. I am so excited to share my first layout using the fabulous Jellybean Kit. The colors in this month’s kit is so vibrant and pretty; I love it. Before I started embellishing this layout, I sprayed yellow and blue spray mists by Shimmerz Paints on to white cardstock. I used a paper towel to dab the excess ink off the paper so it wouldn’t bulk up. Then I used a honeycomb stencil and ink to create a fun border across the middle of the layout in pink and orange. I used yellow and blue paint to alter the wood veneer. I wanted this layout  to be as colorful as possible.

I purchased the Add-On paints and puffy stickers from the April Shop. I am so glad I bought them because I am loving how smooth the Shimmerz Paints are and the puffy stickers are absolutely beautiful… you have to see them in person. They also feel like they are made from nice quality material.

I paired up a heart die cut with a heart puffy sticker to make the heart more interesting. I love adding layers to embellishments. And here is my layout. Our design team Maryam Perez created the journaling cards that I used on this layout. I love them all.

Thanks for visiting today. I hope I was able to inspire you to use mist and some acrylic paints on your next projects! It’s so much fun and once you get started, it’s not as scary as you might have thought. 🙂

Yearbook: Surprise

yearbook

Hello everyone. I have a simple layout to share with you today. Every morning, Edward shares the milk from his cereal with his kitty, Jessica. This really surprises me since he gets grossed out at the thought of letting someone eat or drink after him, but yet, he will let Jessica lick the milk off of his spoon. LOL

I felt that the “Bestie” flair was perfect for this layout. I especially, love the color.

I layered a few banner stickers at the top-right side of the photo and added the “hello” puffy sticker and star sticker to help pull the layout together. And at the last minute, I decided to tuck the “Remember this” ticket behind the photo. I am so glad I purchased the stickers from the add-ons this month. I love stickers because they really do help you stretch a kit.

Geek Lab: Happy Birthday

geeklab

Hello everyone! I just love the fun stickers from the March add-ons. I am so glad I bought them. They really help stretched this month’s kit. I felt this month’s kit was perfect for scrapbooking a photo from Edward’s birthday party since it included banners, flags and the word “happy” in the embellishments and add-ons. He was so happy his daddy could take a little big of time off from work to be at the party. His face is priceless in this photo. I just love it.

Before I started putting this layout together, I already had an idea as to what I wanted to do. I wanted to use the washi tape strips at the bottom of the layout for a fun design. I used scraps of patterned paper to create a fun frame for the photo. Once the photo was adhered to the layout, I added the stickers. I used a fine-tip pen to hand-write birthday to the flag sticker. Initially, the sticker banner did not include the “congratulations”, I had cut the congratulations from a sticker to add to the banner.

Since I ran out of washi strips, I added the “ADVENTURE” banner sticker at the end to fill in the space so there wouldn’t be a gap in space. I used foam squares to pop the stickers up from the layout a bit.

Yearbook: Dear Edward

yearbook

Hello scrappers! Nicole here, with a layout that tells a story in a unique way. I was inspired by Ali Edwards to create a layout that includes a letter to a loved one. Naturally, I chose to write a letter to my son, Edward. I’ve actually been thinking about doing this for sometime now and then I saw what Ali did and I just started typing a letter to Edward one night. I wasn’t exactly sure what to write, so I just typed what came to my mind.

I used the March “Play” Clique Kit with some items I had in my stash for this layout. And a few add-ons from the shop!

I seriously love how playful this kit is. It’s so pretty with all the different colors. My favorite part of the kit besides the patterned papers are the die cuts. There’s pretty much something in here for every scrapbooker.  This kit is perfect for scrapbooking those Spring layouts, but it also includes other patterns and die cuts to work for little boys.

dear-edward_american-crafts_ali-edward-designs_clique-kits_nicole-martelI realized after I was finished scrapping this layout that the picture is a little blurry, but that’s okay because my main focus of the layout was the journaling. While I was adding the embellishments, I realized the “love you” just above mommy was smeared so I grabbed the “love you” sticker. Totally an accident, but a happy one because I think it looks great.

I decided to use the “unbreakable bond” cork at the top of the layout to help pull this layout together. This is something I added from my stash.
