Geek Lab: Dream Big Card

CK - Geek Lab - header

Hey friends,

Melissa here with you today and I’m sharing one of my four projects created using the absolutely stunning September Sundance kit. Seriously, it is so beautiful. I just love the two collections from 1 Canoe 2 and Fancy Pants. So Fall but, a slightly different color palette than the usual oranges and browns. Love!

Alright, so, on to my project. Today I wanted to share with you a fun card using one of the cut files from the CK Store. I love using cut files and I know there are so many posts and tutorials on using them but, it never hurts to see one more. Right? Plus, it also doesn’t hurt to remind you we have some awesome cut files here in the shop! Designed exclusively for you by some top notch ladies, too, and they go so well with the kits and product! Yay!

Alright, here is the cut file already cut out and ready to go…

20170812_223134

To get my papers ready, I kept the “negative” pieces of the cut file and used them as a template. That way, I knew I would get slightly bigger to the true size. This helps immensely when getting ready to place them in between those spaces of white cardstock. I know they fit and will go over slightly so I can use some adhesive too. I found it easier to adhere the patterned paper strips to the card first. Especially for this particular cut file since there were some super thin pieces. It’s hard to line it up right and get it down perfect.

20170812_223326

Because of the thin lines of cardstock, I used glossy accents as my liquid adhesive. It dries clear and I don’t mind the slight shiny parts that show. After adhering the cut file on to the cardstock, I didn’t like how the basket part of the hot air balloon looked as just white. It was too late, and too annoying, to try to cut out from cardstock something so, I dug out my Gelatos. Next time… I will remember to cut out “just in case” OR color with the ink FIRST. It got a little sketchy a few times and almost smeared on my card base. But, in the end, I don’t mind the way it looks.

20170812_223815

The puffy sticker words from Fancy Pants are just perfect for cards! Almost all of the sentiments are PERFECT and I thought this one would go so well with the hot air balloon.

melissae_cksept17_dreambig1

The card really didn’t need much else! Just a of the die cuts from the kit and ta da! Easy and so fun and whimsical.

Thanks for joining me today for Geek Lab! I hope you get a chance to grab some of the awesome cut files in our shop and use them to help stretch your kit! Make sure to use code melissa10 at check out to save 10% on your order!

Until next time…

Hello, Friends! Maryám here to share my last project using the beautiful Malibu 2017 kit. I still have a lot pieces from the kit, so I’m going to continue making more layouts with my kit. For today’s project, I’m going to show you how to make a shaker card.

I love shaker cards, and when I saw the beautiful sequin mix that came with the kit, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to do it.

Here is the card I made:

Here are some close-ups of the card: Don’t you think the sequins look perfect?

Here is the process video of my card. So, if you want to learn how to make a shaker card, please watch the video:

Geek Lab: Don’t give up

Hello CK friends! Maryám here to share a card using the June 2017 printables and some Clique Cuts that I designed this month for the shop.

For the base of the card I used white neenah cardstock. The cut file was cut with my Silhouette Cameo and I backed it up with a paper from Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection.

On the center of the card I put two flowers from the printable sheet that I fussy cut with my scissors. As a title I used a word that says “don’t give up” and at the end I added some enamel dots.

Here are some close-ups to see more details:

I hope you liked my card and I can’t wait to see what you will create using the CK exclusives of this month.

Have a wonderful day friends!

Locker Room | Love card

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hi everyone,

Today, I want to show you a little card made with the Bee You Kit.
I absolutely wanted to create a Valentine card with this kit and here it is.

magalileluc_fb_card

As you can see, I’ve used layering to create dimension on the card, but I’ve also create a real volume with the central butterfly. It’s made it with the cork butterfly on which I’ve glued a paper butterfly cut in the Flock Hazelwood American Crafts paper. I think this paper was my favourite of the kit. There is so many way to use it.

An other way to use it is to add a beautiful background and that’s also what I did on the card.magalileluc_fb_card2

The little epoxy pink triangle is here to add a touch of colour above the butterfly and is perfectly assorted to the corrugated paper below the tag.

You may also have noticed that I slightly transform the tag from the Hazelwood paper. I’ve used the tag but I cut the lower part to add the beautiful border with white crosses on pink (also in the Hazelwood paper). I love that it created a type of ombre effect on the tag.

I hope this inspired you! I wish you a wonderful day!

Geek Lab: September Printables

geeklab

Hello! TodayI want to show you a card I made with September Printables. I used only a label and a circle but their color perfectly matched the blue butterfly and it was enough for me 😉 It is still quite complicated card because I rather make C&S ones.

Take a look …

I have to tell you those flamingos and pineapples are my favorites. They were the first things I used to adorn my cards…

YouRock

My daughter’s Vet School white coat ceremony is Saturday!!! I made this card for her. The glassine bag will work perfect to stick a little gift card into. Just what my girl needs … a little $$ to make it through the next 52 weeks of her externships. Yup, I am one proud mama!

Check out this adorable bow! I love that Waffle Flower Crafts die!

BowDie

My next cards make use of more of the dies in the ephemera die cuts pack. These dies make it so easy to put a card together fast! Can’t decide what paper to use … use 2 and cut them on a diagonal for a different look….

Yes, there was a fabulous Honey Bee Stamp set as well. I used it on this coffee cup I created from an SVGcuts Good Day at the Office digital cut file. It looks like the real deal, doesn’t it. I am going to fill it with chocolates for my office assistant who is retiring. It would make a great teacher gift too. I stamped the sentiment here with VersaMark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder.

CoffeeCup

The butterfly was stamped on vellum and then embossed with a white embossing powder before I fussy cut it out.

If you like what you are seeing, then you better hurry and snatch up your Spring Card kit in the Clique store before they are gone!

Locker Room: 10 minute card

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hi! It’s Justt here! Today I would like to show you my ten-minute card made with March “Hell Yeah” kit. It sometimes happens that we need to make a card within half an hour for example and we’ve got a problem! Here are my tricks 🙂

First of all, I prepare things I need. It’s always better to prepare them in advance. In that case, it’s of course the March kit.

DSC_3785

Then I choose similar in color papers and die-cuts. This time it’s white, pink and turquoise. Three colors and black and white is enough and safe.

DSC_3787

With die-cuts, I try to make a “compact” composition. Putting things close to each other and make a 3D composition is always a good idea 🙂

DSC_3788

Then, to fill a “hole” in the left corner I cut out one flower from the whole die-cut. Sometimes less is more 🙂

DSC_3791

DSC_3792

“Dreaming” word perfectly match the whole card. Die cut March pack especially designed for Clique Kits is enough to choose from. You’ll find them lots of pieces matching one another.

DSC_3796

In the end we only need to add printed sentence and the card is done!

DSC_3799

This is how it looks like 🙂

DSC_3831

I obvoiusly spent more than 10 minutes because I had to photograph the whole process but I can assure you that you won’t spend more than half an hour togehter with preparing materials to creat such a simple card.

DSC_3833

I used March “Hell Yeah” Kit.

Have a good day!

Study Hall-Silhouette Pic Scan

studyhall

Hi friends Candace here today sharing a tip on how to use your Silhouette to cut out the exclusive printables that come with your kits.  Have you heard of the Pic Scan mat?  Well it is amazing!  Pic Scan is a mat that allows you to stick any patterned paper or cut aparts that you would like cut out and send them thru the Silhouette to let it do the work!  Say goodbye to fussy cutting!  Here is a quick look at how I used it this month to cut out some embellishments and patterned paper.

DSC_0700First, I laid out the paper and embellishments that I wanted to be cut on my Pic Scan mat.DSC_0703Next, I used my phone to take a picture of the mat.  I imported that picture in to my Silhouette software and used the trace tool to mark the items I wanted cut.DSC_0706Just like that, I sent it through my Silhouette and it was done!  I am just in love with this new tool and how much time it saves me!  Now with all my goodies cut out I made a quick card and my monthly Clique Kit tag.

DSC_0796

DSC_0797You can see how the Silhouette cut out the clipboard from the patterned paper and also the little camera.  I then was able to pop the camera up and add another patterned paper behind the lens.  So it not only saved me time but allowed me to be more creative with the same piece of patterned paper!

DSC_0799DSC_0801The Silhouette also cut out the little tags and icons on the cut apart sheet so my monthly tag came together in a snap!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you learned a little something new or got a few new ideas on how to use your fabulous kits.  If you have any questions please let me know!

Have a beautiful day!

Candace

This kit featured Photoplay’s Dear Santa line as well as beautiful specialty paper by Pretty Little Studio. Ok, so do you want to see some cards? This first one is a 6×6 card using a digital cut file from SVGcuts.com. With the Dear Santa collection I just had to create a Santa card.

SantaCard

A sticker popped up on foam squares makes for an easy card sentiment.

I love box cards, so my second card had to be a box card. This is also a digital cut file from SVGcuts.com. I used that sparkling silver paper in the kit and it added the perfect elegant touch.

MerryChristmas

The paperclip tree, tinsel bow, stickers and wood veneers are all part of the Card Kit.

What is so cool about these box cards is that they fold flat so you can mail them!

I have one last card to share with you. This one was created using the exclusive stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps that was included with the Holiday Card kit. What I love about the set is that you could use this for much more than Christmas …. maybe even Valentines Day?

WarmHeart

The seam binding in the kit makes for the most gorgeous bows!

Think Happy Thoughts

blog-image_yearbook

Hello Clique Kits friends!

Marcia here, today’s Yearbook post is all about how to use those awesome journal cards that come with your monthly kits. I am not a Project Life scrapper. My kids are adults now and I don’t lead an exciting enough life to do weekly PL layouts. I do however, LOVE to use those journal cards on my handmade cards. This month, not only were there exclusive Clique Kit journal cards, but also a sheet of journal cards/pattern paper from the Cocoa Vanilla Hello Lovely collection. Cards are always the last thing I create with my monthly kits too. I have scraps to play with and don’t have to worry about cutting a 12×12 sheet of paper only to regret later not having the full sheet for a scrapbook layout. Take a look at the cards I created …
ThinkHappy
“Think Happy Thoughts” makes for the perfect card sentiment. I can use this for a birthday or as an encouragement card.

ThinkHappyDetail

Hello

I’ve been eyeballing this “hello” on the Hello Lovely journal sheet knowing it was perfect for a card sentiment.

Here is a tip for adhering those sequins…. use a small glue dot. I love my Imaginisce Pogo for applying my glue dots. the Pogo is much like a reinking stamp. Just press it down where you want your glue dot and place sequin on top.

Sequins

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to join us for our September challenge. There is still plenty of time.  Have a great week.
