Guest Designer: September 2015 “I’m in the Clique!”

student of the month

If someone would have told me that I would be guest designer for a scrapbooking kit club, I would have looked at them like they were crazy! I consider myself to be an everyday scrapper. I hold scrapbook designers right up there with Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama!

(Teach me your ways!!!!)

I have certainly grown in my scrapbooking abilities, enough to get noticed by others…which is awesome! I thought I would celebrate my super cool accomplishment by making this layout.

IMG_8850

I used the September 2015 Captured kit along with a piece of textured white card stock from my stash.

IMG_8852The kit came with a piece of black crepe paper that I ruffled on the side of my photos.  I further embellished the crepe paper by threading a strand of sequin with silver thread. I used an exclusive Clique Kit digit die cut, “Love This”, to add additional dimension to the layout.

IMG_8851The kit included papers and embellishments from the Cocoa Vanilla Hello Lovely collection. One of the papers included several cut aparts which I layered on the side of the layout. I added an exclusive flare that was given to me by the wonderful folks at Clique Kits which also served as the inspiration for my title. The title features a die cut “hello” and gray puffy font stickers from  Evalicious. I added the Kal Barteski pink font by Thickers from my stash.  I finished the layout with a few butterfly die cuts from Cocoa Vanilla and black mist from Heidi Swapp.

IMG_8854It took me less than 20 minutes to put this layout together! I love the overall relaxed look and I am so happy with the finished product! And I am glad to be a part of the Clique!

Happy scrappin’!

These Moments-Guest Designer Victoria Calvin

student-of-the-month

Hello everyone! This is Victoria Marie, the Clique Kits guest designer for September 2015. Thanks so much for having me!

When I received the Capture Kit, I couldn’t wait to make a layout! The papers and embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla are incredible! I don’t normally go for black backgrounds, but the corrugated black paper from Fancy Pants Designs was calling my name and needed to take center stage in this layout.

IMG_8689Without a doubt, I love being a mom! I cherish every moment that I have with my little munchkin Corinne. Recently my family and I went on a short “staycation” to Austin, Texas – a quick getaway from our normal routine. This picture was taken while we were enjoying a wonderful breakfast buffet at the Embassy Suites Arboretum.

IMG_8696After a full day of activities, we later settled into our hotel room. I decided to look at the pictures that I took that day and stopped at this photo. There are some days when I cannot believe that my little sprite is becoming such a lovely big girl. It seemed like only yesterday that I was holding her in my arms; she was ever so tiny. Now, she is a newly minted kindergartner, full of spunk and energy. I don’t care how big she gets…she will always be my baby! I am so glad that I took a moment to stop and take it all in.

Life goes by so fast.

IMG_8694

IMG_8693I created a layered look for both the base of the layout and the around the photo. For the base, I used three patterned papers, Lucky Dip and Flower Patch from the Hello Lovely collection by Cocoa Vanilla, and Baxter by Sever Paper. I mounted my photo on a glassine bag (which contained some of my Clique Kit goodies) and layered a fun assortment of die cuts, stickers, and tags from the Hello Lovely collection by Cocoa Vanilla and the Cienna collection by Elle’s Studio around my photo. I adhered the photo layer on the black corrugated specialty paper. The exclusive Clique Kit pocket card served as a space for my journaling and my title. I used the Gray Woodgran Alphas from Evalicious for the subtitle “You and Me”.

IMG_8692I added a doily that came with the packaging from my kit, along with the exclusive Clique Kit flare, sequins, and bit of silver thread and twine that I grabbed from my stash. I really love to create free flowing layout designs that are fun and have a lot of movement.

Another memory…captured! Happy scrappin’ my friends!

Study Hall: Playing with Types

I love fonts. I love how each font capture a different mood, a different energy. With word collages being real popular these days, I was inspired to create one about my boy’s love for fruits:

5 Servings, @Colortypes Sophie @ Cliquekits, #cliquekits #scrapbooking #DIY #CKenchantedmeadow

To add a personal touch to the layout, I hand cut the words “EAT” and “HEALTHY” and included my handwriting in some parts of the layout. The ledger puffy stickers from Evalicious were an absolute complement to this college, especially since it the light blue grid design on the fonts make the fonts really pop against the white background.

5 Servings Detail 1

My son was roped in to help complete this layout too. During one of our painting sessions, I got him to do a hand print for me and I like how it provides a visual representation for the no. 5 on this layout.

When creating the “everyday section”, I was delighted that the exact word came as a transparency in my kit. I also decided that those journaling cards from the Echo Park Creative Agenda cut apart paper were too cute not to be included here.

5 Servings Detail 2

After I put all the different font types together, I had fun embellishing with all the amazing ticks and reminders stickers in the kit. And yes, strange but true, the little one actually enjoys eating celery!

And there you have it – a daily health reminder about the importance of eating your fruit and veges! I hope you have fun putting together a college of font types too!

Create Happiness

Hi everyone, it’s Danielle here with you today sharing another layout with the December Enchanted Meadow kit.

I love the happy bright colors in this kit, so I wanted to work with pictures that make me happy. Having my little niece over always makes me happy anyway, but I might love it even more that we share the love for crafting. Already from the time she was about 2 years old I could have her sitting with me at the table and she could watch me scrapbooking for an hour or two. By the time she was 3 years old I decided to let her join in the fun and let her make her own Disney scrapbook. Every time she comes over, she asks right away if she can work on her book. Two weeks ago I took her downtown and asked her if she wanted to have lunch at McDonalds. Her answer: can’t we just have a sandwich at your house, so I can quickly start working on my scrapbook? What kid would ever say that? She’s a scrapbooker at heart and I love it!

I used the Echo Park papers and embellishments from the Enchanted Meadow kit and added some Evalicious puffy stickers and flair and Basic Grey enamel dots from the Clique Kits store. The background paper is from My Mind’s Eye and came with the kit as well. I love how the black and white pattern makes the other colors pop off the page. The paper also has some black splatters in it and I added a few pink splatters to that.

Study Hall: Creating Clusters

StudyHall

Hello everyone! Sophie here today to share this layout I created using this month’s absolutely gorgeous kit.

The husband and I just celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary and I thought the papers in this month’s kit are a perfect fit for scrapping one of my favorite photos from our wedding.

Happily Ever After, @Colortypes Sophie @ Cliquekits, #cliquekits #scrapbooking #DIY #CKenchantedmeadow

I started this layout with the intention of creating an entire cluster of tassels in the shape of a heart. These tassels were made from embroidery floss and glassine bags (don’t you just love the fact that each kit comes with a few of these?). Once these were secured to the page with washi tape, I added the title “happily ever after” in the form of a banner.

Happily Ever After Detail 1

I love all the  blooms that can be colored in this kit by Heidi Swapp. These were colored using paints and mists to achieve a softer feel. When clustering them, I added some black and white blooms that I fussy cut from the patterned paper as well. These help to lighten the overall effect.

Happily Ever After Detail 2

Finally, I anchored the entire cluster to the background by having a huge arrow shoot through the heart diagonally. Added some embellishments in the corner of the layout and some stamped sequins from the wonderful stamp set found in the kit and tadah! All done!

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you will have some fun with all the amazing embellishments in the kit!
