Let’s Hold Hands Always

student of the month

Hello everyone!  Erica here with you today to bring you one of our guest contributors!  Renee Aslette has been working with our Limited Edition Valentine Kit and we are so excited to share what she has created!  First lets get to know Renee a little better!

What is your favorite tool?

My favorite tool at the moment would have to be the We R Memory Keepers Typeset Typewriter. I love it! I got it for Christmas from my husband and I use it all the time.

Who is your favorite designer/paper company?

My favourite designer/paper company would have to be Cocoa Vanilla Studios. I love the colors, the embellishments and there has not been a release that I haven’t loved.

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration is usually my two boys, Jackson and Lucas. I love to create layouts using their photo’s. I do like to create by having a whole collection on my desk and I just go from there.

When you scrap do you listen to music, watch tv or need complete quiet?

I am very fortunate to have a scrap room in the house. I have Pandora on my computer and I always listen to music while I am creating. One Direction is one of the channels I created on my Pandora Station but don’t tell anyone!

How long have you been scrapping and one thing you love about it?

I have been scrapbooking for approximately 9 years. I love the people I get to meet and connect with along the way. I love that I can just create for me. I find it to be my little piece of heaven. I feel a bit lost if I haven’t done anything for a couple of weeks.

Thanks Renee for sharing a little bit about yourself with us!  Now lets get to the beautiful project for today!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!!

I am so excited to be a Guest Contributor with you this month.

I was very fortunate to be designing with The January Kit – Hey Sugar and the Limited Edition Valentine’s Kit which has since Sold Out.

This is a layout I created by using various patterned papers from the Kit and just having some fun with them. Cutting and tearing to create this layout.

lets-hold-hands-always

Here are some close-ups:

img_4171

How awesome is this brush letter sticker title from Crate Paper. As soon as I had seen that title in the kit, I knew exactly which photo I would use.

img_4172

I cut strips of paper from the January Kit – Hey Sugar.  The gold hearts are from the same kit, it was the specialty vellum.  I fussy cut the hearts out to use one their own. The crosses were from the Puffy Stickers from the Fancy Pants – Joy Parade Collection.

I cut thin strips of paper from the kit and layered them to create the effect across the page.

img_4173

I just love the puffy stickers!!

img_4174

My journaling says, “I remember my mum and dad holding hands.  I loved seeing it.  Now I get to hold your hands anytime I like.”

The photo is from our wedding day.

Thank you so much for stopping by to get to know me a little better.

I have loved being a part of the Clique Kits Team for the month.

Yearbook: Music on my Titles

yearbook

Hello! This is Caroli again and today I want to show you one more project using lovely January kit Hey Sugar, which features Crate Paper, Fancy Pants and Simple Stories goodness.

When creating a layout I think a lot about the title and journaling, this is something important because it’s essential for documenting the feeling and stories behind this layout, and music for me is really helpful when deciding what title to use.

I love including parts of my current favorite songs, because this also helps me documenting the feeling of that moment  and complements my memory keeping process. Sometimes a song holds a lot of feelings and memories of daily life, so I love to use them in my layout, whether on title or on journaling.

This time I’ve made this layout using the title of this pretty song by Beyoncé, I love you Like XO. I specially love the version by John Mayer, it’s a beautiful song and I used it as my title because I love these two like XO 🙂

cliquekits_yearbook_carolischulz_heysugar1

I had in mind placing lots of horizontal stripes of different sizes and textures, so I used some tiny circle grids for creating some of those stripes. I loved how this idea came out, I’m certainly using it again in other projects!

cliquekits_yearbook_carolischulz_heysugar2

I also used some fringes because they are fun and add a lot of texture. I love the XO paper by Simple Stories included on the kit and of course I fussy cut some of the XOs for my title.

cliquekits_yearbook_carolischulz_heysugar4

I simply adore this hearts with faces papers, it’s just so cute ♥ I used a stripe and some extra hearts and adhere them with foam dots, which I complemented with some puffy stickers of the same heart, arent’ those the CUTEST EVER!? ♥ Love the effect.

cliquekits_yearbook_carolischulz_heysugar3

I hope you like the idea of using songs in your layouts, let’s treasure those happy moments as much as possible 🙂 Have a nice day!

XOXO – Caroli

Yearbook – Moments

yearbook

Hello, Clique friends. Enza back today to share a new layout featuring the gorgeous Hey, Sugar January kit.

I’m excited to show you how I put together my top ten moments of 2016. By looking at my layouts, you have probably noticed I’m not a multi-photo scrapbooker. One or two pictures at the most, unless it is a series of pictures, is way enough for  me. To be honest, I struggled a little bit with this one, but I love a good challenge and am very happy with the result.

The past year was a very good year, both personally and professionally. We had our rough times, like anybody else, but I feel blessed for everything life has brought us.

Here is the layout:

egudor_january17_yearbook

I used a cut file I have had in my stash for a long time and thought it was perfect to document all the sweet moments we experienced. Film strips are a lot of fun to use. They remind me of the good old times. They remind me of my childhood. Such a nostalgic feeling! I used the Simple Stories Happy Together patterned paper to cut the circle and the Crate Paper My Love one to back it.

egudor_january17_yearbook_closeup2

I also passed some thread through the holes of the circle to add more texture to the page.

The embellishments in this month’s kit are so adorable. The wooden buttons and the gold tiny hearts are just perfect. I used some of the exclusive printables to create several layers behind my flowers and give more dimension to the clusters.

egudor_january17_yearbook_closeup1

As always, black splatters and enamel dots finished the layout.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my process and felt inspired to use your January kit to document your top moments of 2016. I can’t say enough how beautiful these kits are. So many goodies to work with. Exclusive products, add-ons, digital elements and cut files.

Until next time. Have a great day!

Art Studio – Love Everlasting

Hello Clique Kits Fans!

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend.ck_jan17_kit

Today I am back with a new project using the gorgeous “Hey, Sugar” kit (have i mentioned how much i love this kit).   It is packed with beautiful papers from Crate Paper’s Heart Day collection, and Simple Stories’ Love and Adore collection, and lots of beautiful and colorful embelishments.   Since the colors made me think of love, I chose to translate the inspiration into a sweet layout about my sister and her love for her son.

february-2016

For the focus of this layout, i used the Just Nick exclusive cut file  for Clique Kits from February 2016.  I cut only the outlet of the heart on water color paper, and used  the pencil attachment to lightly draw the triangles inside the heart, all this was done using my Silhouette Cameo.

ck-nathalie-desousa-january-2017-everlasting-love

the heart cut out was colored using the watercolors.

To make sure to  leave a white edge around the heart image, I simply used masking tape to attach it to the silicone mat.  Next I sprinkle water inside the taped lines, followed by varying shades of pink watercolor.  Using a lightly wet brush i connected the splatters together allowing the watercolor to run into the water splatters.

ck-nathalie-desousa-january-2017-everlasting-love-2

Once the heart cut out dried, a paper piercing tool was used to make holes in each corner point of the triangles of the original  cut file (you cannot see them in the picture, as I used a 2H pencil to draw them in the Cameo).   Using simple back stitching,  all the triangles were completed.  Here is a few close ups to the heart piece.

This heart is the focus of this layout, so it was attached using a large piece of fun foam to the layout.   Next i fussy cut quite a few flowers from the Crate Paper’s Adore You paper included in the “Hey, Sugar” kit, and tucked them behind the picture and lower edge of the heart.  The clusters around the picture  were formed using chipboard stickers from the Heart Day collection, and card stock stickers from Simple Stories’s Love and Adore collection, these can be found in the Clique Store.

ck-nathalie-desousa-january-2017-everlasting-love-7

ck-nathalie-desousa-january-2017-everlasting-love-6

To complete the layout, the title was formed using the beautiful black and White alphas included in the “Hey, Sugar” kit, and one of the word stickers from last month’s Wonderland Kit.  Here is the final layout:

ck-nathalie-desousa-january-2017-everlasting-love-5

The beautiful papers and embelishments in this month’s, “Hey Sugar” kit worked seamlessly to construct this layout about my sis and her little one.  Remember you can still purchase the kit, just click here, or better yet check the limited edition “Love, always” kit available at the Clique Kit Store.  You can use one of the DT’s codes to obtain a discount at checkout.

Let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for visiting today!

Hey everyone, Tiffani here with another layout made with the Hello Sugar January Kit.
ck_jan17_kit
Mixed media supplies are by far my favorite to work with. You have so many options on creating backgrounds and your own personal touches. For this layout I started with white watercolor paper. I prepped my page with gesso and then once that dried I used Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. To blend I used water and my fingers. On top of that I decided to do a brick wall using Rangers Texture Paste.
20170114_081502
I love all the papers in this months kit. These are 3 of my favorite patterns. I love the torn paper look so I added that to one of the edges of each paper. The pictures I chose for this layout are of my 2 closest friends. They have been there for me through some of the hardest moments in my past year.
20170114_081550
I adore all of the embellishments in this months kit. The vinyl stickers and thickers work so well together. I added some twine to the little xoxo tag and added 3 hearts to signify each one of ours.

Locker Room: Simple Layout with Flowers

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hello! Happy Friday, how are y’all? Caroli here and today I want to show you step by step how I made this simple and quick layout using January kit Hey Sugar. don’t you just love all the color on it? 🙂

I started my layout by throwing some splatters of black mist on a sheet of white cardstock I got from Clique Kits Shop.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz1

Then, I used as background this flowery grid designed by a good friend of Clique Kits, Nicole Nowosand owner of Just Nick Studio. I cut the grid on my Silhouette Cameo and filled just some of the flowers using patterned papers included on the kit.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz2

Next, I placed my photos and adhered them using some foam dost, this way my layout gains volume and looks more fun too.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz3

Now it’s time to use some embellishments! I love this flower paper by Crate included on the kit, the colors and beautiful watercolored flowers are just perfect. I fussy cut some flowers and used them to mebellish my page.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz4

Agin I used some foam dots to adhere the flowers, I love my pages to have a lot of volume so foam dots are my best friends!

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz5

These puffy stickers by Fancy Pants are so pretty! Love specially the font of the words, so I used word “amazing” for creating my title.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz6

I complemented my title with the Thickers included also on the Kit. I really love these Thickers, the shade effect on them is pretty and since they are black & white they combine perfectly with any other color. My title is finished, and I also added some more puffy shapes from Fancy Pants here and there, just to make my layout more colorful.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz8

Finally I wrote my journaling and there you go, a super fast layout but still pretty and interesting. One thing I love how about working with CK kits is how easy is to create beautiful projects in minutes. All products are so well coordinated you just have let your creativity go.

cliquekits_heysugarkit_lockersroom_carolischulz7

Hope you have a great weekend! XO – Caroli

Study Hall: Amazing 2016

Hello Clique Friends!

Melissa here with you today and I’m sharing a page that is highlighting my Top 10 moments of 2016. I’m using the gorgeous January kit… oh my lands I love this kit!

So, before I show you the page, I just have to say I really enjoyed the whole process of making this page. I found that going through my Instagram feed was the best way to remember all the fabulous memories of 2016. For me, it was a great year! Full of blessings. Full of new adventures. Full of amazing friends and opportunities. Every year has it’s hardships but, the blessings outweighed those and I’m so thankful!

Truth be told, I had a very difficult time narrowing it down to 10 things but, that seems to be the magic number. And I feel like any more and it would just crowd the page. Once I finally decided on the 10 moments, I printed out my photos super small. I wanted to create a partial collage with lots of journaling. So, here is the finished product…

amazing2016layout

I kind of like the “authentic scrapbook page” feel of this. What I mean by that is, after glancing through the old scrapbooks my grandmother kept, everything was usually just placed together in a collage type manner. Sometimes little memorabilia was tucked behind photos and such. While I didn’t add that, I did use the embellishments from the kit to help add texture, color and interest to the layout. I just really love the look of a collage. All my memories connected and placed together.

amazing2016b

I had to think of a way to add a title. My pages always need a title. And since I had a vision to place my journaling all on the right side, I thought of doing something sideways to visually split the design areas up. Those title words from Fancy Pants work perfect! Add in the thickers to create the year and, it’s perfect!

amazing2016c

When I make layouts, I love to journal. I like to talk so, it would make sense I’d have a lot to say on a written page, as well. Ha! I decided to get a little fancy (not really) with my journaling by sometimes printing and sometimes writing in cursive or my half print/half cursive type handwriting. That was one of my favorite things to see in my Grandma’s scrapbook – her handwriting.

Here is a little collage with a few more close-ups of my page:

Thank you so much for joining me today!

Yearbook: Highlights of 2016 in one Layout

yearbook

Hello there, how are you? Happy New Year Everyone! Caroli here and today I want to share with you this layout that basically summarizes how 2016 was for me.

I must say that  it was such an awesome year!I was blessed with too many good things and I got to learn from the bad ones, I only can be thankful for this year, so I wanted to document my happiness in a layout.

I used the beautiful January Kit HEY SUGAR, which features the awesome product from Crate Paper, Simple Stories and Fancy Pants. This kit is already available for single purchase in the Clique Kits shop here, so if you are thinking about getting it, go hurry before it’s all sold out!

Of course for this projects I used a lot of photos, each one representing something I loved during 2016: being pregnant, the birth of my baby boy, my little girl turning 8 with the greatest party I’ve thrown so far, spending a lot of time the 4 of us at home during winter (my husband was on medical leave and I was on maternity leave, so it was almost like vacations, LOL!), a flawless return to work after almost a year of maternity leave, and being chosen by 2 of my favorite manufacturers for being part of their DT.

Of course there were bad moments and sad times, but I chose to learn from them and just let them go, always looking on the full glass 🙂

I decided to cut the numbers 2016 and fill the negative space with the beautiful golf foil vellum included on the kit. Also, I filled number zero with a circle grid and paper circles.

cliquekits_yearbook_januarykit_heysugar_carolischulz

The gorgeous flower paper by Crate Paper included on the kit was asking to be fussy cut, and so I did. I used some of the flowers to decorate.

cliquekits_yearbook_januarykit_heysugar_carolischulz2

Since there were a lot of pics, I barely decorated this page; I used few enamel dots and some puffy hearts by Fancy Pants, love the Joy Parade embellishments ❤

cliquekits_yearbook_januarykit_heysugar_carolischulz3

The black Thickers included on the kit made the perfect contrast for all the color in this layout. I love the shade effect of these ones!

cliquekits_yearbook_januarykit_heysugar_carolischulz4

I hope you like the idea and concept behind this layout ans try to document your 2016 too. I love using a lot of pics on a single project and think that combining circles and regular photos is such a great way to give variety to the composition, don’t you think?

Have a great day!
XOXO – Caroli

Clique Kits – Geek Lab – Sweet Valentines

13738133_10206587473420812_3012027118225482067_o

Hello there, Clique friends! First of all, Happy New Year! I’m so ready and excited to see what this 2017 will bring!

Today I want to show you a fun project I created using the gorgeous Hey, Sugar January Kit.

hey-sugar

One of my goals this year is to get more organized and plan in advance. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be useful to start making little Valentines for my kids’ classmates and friends. Both the Crate Paper Heart Day and Simple Stories Love & Adore collections are perfect for this. I’m also going to use the January printables and the Crate Paper ephemera pack included in the Limited Edition Love Always Valentine’s Day Kit.

egudor_january4_geeklab_supplies2

Last week, our super talented Magali showed you how to use a scoring board to make beautiful rosettes. I’m going to use the same tool to make little envelopes to go with my kids’ Valentine’s Day cards. The Crate Paper 6×6 paper pad, which is one of the add-ons this month, is the best option as the envelopes only measure 3.5” x 2.5”.

First thing you want to do is cut a 5”x5” piece of patterned paper. I normally don’t use the envelope guide that came with the scoring board, but it can be helpful to make sure your lines are straight. Place your cut piece of paper on the board as shown in the picture below. The two opposite corners are touching the 3.5” marks on the top and left side of the board.

egudor_january4_geeklab14

Score at 1.75” in mark and turn the paper 90 degrees, then score at 2.25” and turn the paper again, until all the sides are scored. Two opposite sides are scored at 1.75” and the other two at 2.25”.

Cut out the little corners between scores and fold the flaps inward.

egudor_january4_geeklab13

egudor_january4_geeklab12

I like the look of sharp corners on my envelopes, but you can certainly round the corner of the inside flap, as well as the one on the outside.

Use adhesive to seal the edges and you are done!

Here are the envelopes, all decorated and ready to go.

egudor_january4_geeklab6

And here are the coordinating Valentines.

egudor_january4_geeklab

I used many of the January exclusive printables, as well as the Doughnut cut file available to subscribers. I also added some of the exclusive stickers designed by Claudia van Rooijen included in the December Wonderland Kit.

Some close ups:

I really enjoyed making these Valentines. The papers and embellishments in the Hey, Sugar January Kit and add-ons are beautiful. If you are looking to make more Valentine’s Day projects don’t miss out on the Limited Edition Love Always Kit.

Until next time. Have a great day!

XO, Enza

Happy Tuesday everyone!!  Erica here to bring you our January Guest Contributor Tiffani Keronen!  Tiffani will be sharing with us all month long with the Janaury kit so stay tuned!  Today she is sharing her first project and she included one of the great cut files on her layout!  So without further delay…Say Hello to Tiffany!!
ck_coordt_headshots-1617_v-copy-18

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I cannot believe we are already in 2017. I can’t think of a better way for me to bring it in, than with a layout using the Clique Kits, January kit, Hey Sugar. I have been away from scrapping to deal with personal things, but I’m so happy to be back doing what I love most, documenting beautiful memories to share with my children for years to come.

For this layout I first decided on a cut file. I love my Silhouette and I think cut files just add such a fun element. This year I am making my year to celebrate everything, no matter how big or small. To add some color, I blotted my paintbrush over the cut file, with Heidi Swapp mint metallic texture paste.
20170101_113129
The papers in this kit are so much fun. I love stripes, polka dots and everything hearts. I decided to go with four patterns and I  cut them into 3/4 inch strips.  I love the look of the different lengths.

My three-year-old daughter Symphony has the most infectious smile and truly celebrates every small victory at this age. Embellishments from this kit just fit the fun smile on her face. I used some of the gold hearts from the Heart Day by Crate Paper as well as the ribbon and to happy day embellishment. The gold doilies are from my own personal stash and I added those to bring out the gold hearts.
20170101_113248
It wouldn’t be a layout by me if there wasn’t any ink splatter. I always find that when you feel like you’re missing something, throwing some ink on your layout brings out that little pop.
20170101_113043
I hope you enjoyed my layout and I look forward to sharing more with you this month.
