Geek Lab: Me

Hi everybody. Nicole here with a layout I created using goodies from the shop! If you haven’t been to the shop, you might want to take a look. We have some fabulous product marked down! And yes, everything used on this layout is available in the shop, but hurry because they might not be available for long.

For this layout, I decided to use the Pink Paislee “Cest La Vie” paper pack, acetate alphas, stickers and Jillibean Soup’s vellum foil tag.

I really like the patterns in the acetate paper that comes in the paper back so I decided to use the vellum tag to cut part of the patterned from the acetate paper to layer on the tag. I must say, it looks so pretty!

I cut several pieces of patterns, sentiments, shapes from the cut-apart paper and acetate to use as die cuts for this layout since I did not have any on hand.

I love patterned paper because the possibilities are endless. You can mix patterns to create a fun background for your layout, cut the paper into a patterned using a Silhouette or cut bits and pieces/sentiments from the patterns to use as die cuts for your layout.

Before adhering the acetate embellishments to your layout,, make sure you peel the plastic film off… Let me just say, I did not…

Thanks for visiting today. Be sure to check out the shop today for some great deals!

Art Studio: Happy Moments

Hello scrappers. I’ve been anxiously waiting to share this layout with you.  When I started creating this layout, I had no idea what I was going to do. The one thing I was sure of, is that I wanted to use lots of patterned paper. The papers in this months’ kit are so pretty. Wouldn’t you agree. It’s hard not to use them all. LOL I even cut the branding strips from the papers and used them as a fun border for my layout on the left-side of the layout.

I’ve had an acrylic frame in my stash for some time now and after watching Finnabair share the new Metallique Paints, I was inspired to use some of the Metallique paints from my stash. I painted the frame using the Deep Waters and Blue-Gold paints. SOOOOO Pretty! I love how vibrant these paints are.

I fussy cut the flowers from the floral paper and added buttons and jewels from my stash to the center of the flowers to add more texture to the flowers. I used foam squares to adhere them to the layout.

Here is a closer look at the branding strips used on this layout.

I fussy cut the butterfly from one of the patterned papers to use as a die cut for the bottom right-side of my layout.

Thank you for visiting today!

Yearbook: Handwriting the story

yearbook

Hi everyone!  Audrey here with a Yearbook post today.  I had an important story that I wanted to document with this kit, so I am focusing on my journaling for this page.  Sometimes I think my journaling is messy (and I misspell words a lot!) but I remember that when my kids or grandchildren are look at these in the future, they are going to want to see a part of me!  So that is why I choose to hand journal on my pages.

I knew I wanted to use bits of the bright colored papers with the black and white stripe, so I cut out some scalloped shapes from a few different bright prints.  I ground my photos on the black and white paper with a piece of pink paper the same scalloped shape.

I kept my embellishments on the left side of the page leaving a lot of white space on the right.

The striped lines of the black and white paper provided a great place for journaling.pierced-ck-2

Hope you enjoyed this post and remember to put a little piece of you on your pages!

YOU

geeklab

Hello scrappy friends. Today, I am sharing another layout using the Kraft
tags from the kit and die cuts. I took this adorable photo of Edward behind the school one day. He was in the mood to have his picture taken so I took advantage of it. And I really wanted to get a picture in his adorable plaid shirt that I bought for picture day!

happy_clique-kits_crate-paper_nicole-martel_layout

I used a pen and ruler to create a faux stitched look on the kraft tag. And did the same thing with the heart journaling tag. And because I felt that the “just own it” flair was perfect for this photo, A added it to the corner of the layout with some die cuts and stickers.

Hello everyone. I am really enjoying the November kit. Seriously, it’s so pretty!

clique-kits_crate-paper_jillibean-soup_nicole-martel_layout

For this layout, I wanted to tell a story using a moment in time. And I used my own hand-journaling. I practiced on a plain piece of paper first and made the lines using a pencil… then I traced it with a pen and erased the marks to avoid making any mistakes.

I love the kraft tags in this kit. And actually, I cannot get enough of them. You’ll be seeing them again on another layout. I promise. 🙂

For this layout, I included lots of layers. I used the tags to trace several different tags using the patterned paper from the kit. The marble paper is my favorite! Notice how I pulled the background out by adding the marble tag tucked behind the kraft tag?

Thanks so much for vising today!-Nicole

promcommittee

Jill Yegerlehner_Family Photo

1. Tell us a little bit about your creative process and what inspires you?

My creative process starts with pulling together a board of design elements, colors, patterns and any “seasonal” items. In most collections we have a “focus” page and this is usually the first page in the collection and is the “focus” of the collection. Recently we’ve been pulling in many different elements, kind of making it a “hodgepodge” of designs. Just about everything inspires me – clothing, fabrics, home décor, my kids, print ads, publications, other designers, paint colors and so much more. I probably spend a little too much time on Pinterest.

2. Where and when are you most creative?

Hmm, good question – I have to be “on” or “creative” most of the time. We work on a lot of product that does not come to fruition so we’re always coming up with new concepts. I work best in the evenings when things are quiet and I’m not being bombarded with distractions.

3. What are some of your must have supplies?

I love cardstock that matches our key Jillibean colors (we always use the same colors throughout our collections so you can mix and match), my Cutterbee scissors, Tombow adhesive, 3L foam squares are a must for me (I use them on every project), my Silhouette Cameo and a good paper trimmer. When I’m making wood projects – I always use vinyl stencils, Jillibean Happy Hues paints and make up sponges.

4. Have you always had a love for design?

I have. I love it. I love interior design, product design, retail fixture design… I just love it all.

5. 3 things people probably do not know about you. Ok..

1. I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and graduated with 52 people. 2. I’ve bicycled across thestate of Iowa. 3. I have a Biology degree and was a food scientist prior to starting Jillibean Soup.

6. Favorite:
• Book – 50 Shades… just kidding! To Kill a
Mockingbird
• Movie – Silence of the Lambs (I know, creepy) or the
Hangover
• Candy – Chocolate all the way
• Drink – Diet Pepsi (it’s my vice)
• Music – Adele, JT, Pentatonix, Coldplay and many
Christian artists as well
• Color – Yellow, Apple Green or Aqua
• TV Show – Dancing with the Stars – the girls and I
watch it together

7. Out of all the collections you have created so far which is your favorite?

It’s too hard to choose! I love one of our latest collections – Hardy Hodgepodge which was just released for the fall.

8. Can you share how Jillibean Soup came about and where the name came from?

Your question about always loving design ties into this…I have always loved design and wanted to somehow get into this industry.  I’m not a graphic designer but I direct every piece of product we do. I researched and researched how I could break into the industry. Our first collections were actually printed on kraft paper to set us aside from everyone else. Jillibean Soup was actually not the first name of the company. “Jill’s Attic” was. One day I came across a product that was trademarked “Jill’s Attic”. I had to sit down and make a list of new names after that. I picked my top 6 and sent them to my friends/family to see which one they liked. Every single one of them came back with “Jillibean Soup”. It has allowed us to do some fun marketing with the “soup” part.

9. Who are some of your influences?

God, my husband, my girls, our design team, Pinterest, HGTV just to name a few

10. Any hints on what is to come Jillibean Soup?

It may involve “planning”.. hint, hint. 🙂

Jill thank you so much for being our Designer in the Spotlight!!  We can not wait to see some planner Jilllibean Soup products!  Thank you everyone for stopping by the blog today!  Not only did Jill share a little bit about herself with us today she also has a fabulous prize for one lucky reader!

June Clique Kit Blog Share

Hi everybody. It’s Nicole here, wishing you a fabulous Wednesday! Welcome to the June Pep Rally. This month, we hope to inspire you with the “La Dolce Vita” kit. I am loving all the Elle’s Studio and Jillibean Soup goodies. What an awesome combination, don’t ya think? I especially love all the embellishments in this kit. YUM.
For our challenge this month, we went with anything goes, but challenged our design team to include journaling on their projects.
The Pep Rally, for those of you who are new to the Clique, is our monthly subscriber and design team blog share typically held the third week of the month and participants earn product credits-yes, free stuff to do what you love-who can beat that? It’s out with the old, in with the new time at Clique Kits when we (hopefully) have all killed our kit from the previous month and have lots to show off, and we start to chat and hype the excitement for the coming month’s kit. In other words, we party! We don’t leave out our guests-there is always a prize for a hopper who comments on each post and likes and shares on social media! Just leave a new comment for each like and share for a separate entry in the random drawing for this month’s prize. One lucky person will win this month’s La Dolce Vita! Get the word out and have your friends join our Pep Rally because they might end up with this gorgeous kit at their doorsteps!
Here’s today’s line up:

Feel free to hop in any order, if you get lost, you can always come back here to find your place. This month, I decided to add a little Shimmerz to my project using a circle stencil. Love of my life

blog-image_locker-room

Hello! Donna here to share a page I created using the June Kit “La Dolce Vita” featuring Elle’s Studio Little Moments.

CK_Jun16-kit4

This kit is super beautiful! I was inspired by the butterflies and soft pastel colors in this kit. I played around that inspiration and this is the result.

Donna-Espiritu---La-Dolce-Vita-June-2016---Elle's-Studio---layout-03

Gelatos and watercolors are my favorite ingredients to my pages/projects lately, so you will see a lot of those to more projects. For this page, I created a subtle colorful background. And added little bits of texture around the page.

Donna-Espiritu---La-Dolce-Vita-June-2016---Elle's-Studio---layout-03e

Donna-Espiritu---La-Dolce-Vita-June-2016---Elle's-Studio---layout-03b

Here are more detailed shots. The heart shape was a last minute addition. I was looking at the page and thought it still need something. I used a yellow PITT pencil to lightly draw the heart shape.

Donna-Espiritu---La-Dolce-Vita-June-2016---Elle's-Studio---layout-03c

Then I used a black waterproof pen to write along the lines of the heart shape, “Love of my life”.Donna-Espiritu---La-Dolce-Vita-June-2016---Elle's-Studio---layout-03d

And here is the process video for this layout so you can see how I created it.
Enjoy watching!

Happy crafting,
