Geek Lab: Live for the Moment

Hi everyone. Nicole here, with a fun technique! A few weeks ago I wanted to find a way to use the Butterfly cut file from Just Nick’s Studio’s shop, without having to actually cut the image. I did not want to have to peel the cut file from the cutting mat. I was feeling lazy. LOL The first thing I did was open the image in the Silhouette program. Then I changed the color of the image to a teal color using the Fill Color icon.

Then I clicked on the print button at the top of the screen and selected my color printer.

I printed the butterflies on the “Dream On” paper to add a bit more color! I love how the circles and butterflies blend together.

I love the teal, orange and gray together. It’s such a beautiful color combination. It really makes this layout pop.

A few close ups:

Once I had the photo adhered down, I splashed a few drops of spray ink onto the layout. I tucked a die cut piece behind the speech bubble clip to add color. What do you think about the flair in this month’s kit? I love that font!

I hope your visit today was inspiring! Thank you for taking some time out of your day to stop by!

Hi scrappers! Today, I hope to inspire you with another layout using Just Nick Studio’s digital cut file and Clique Kit’s February kit. I love working with digital backgrounds and the heart background really caught my eye. I used lime cardstock to really make the cut file pop off the page. This layout was super simple to make. I just layered some patterned paper together for the base, cut the image from my Silhouette Portrait, and added some mist and embellies.

I added some random heart stickers and chipboard to the digital cut file. The little banners were stamped images that I applied to scraps of patterned paper and hand-cut them to use as embellishments. It makes the hearts stand out much nicer than without.

I added some mini word stickers, butterfly rub-on and some Nuvo dots at the bottom to fill in the layout a bit.

Thanks for visiting today!

Hi everyone. I have a fun layout to share with you using the January Clique Kit. There is a lot of pink in this kit so I figured this month was the perfect month to start creating layouts for my sister using her engagement photos before she starts throwing hints at me. I am surprised she hasn’t asked me yet. LOL. I decided to use Just Nick’s digital cut file for my title. I love this cut file.

For this layout, I used the “Love” cut file from Just Nick’s Shop. You can purchase it here! I love scrapping in a grid. It’s super easy to do and it’s so much fun decorating the squares with bits and pieces of embellishments found in my stash or kit. 🙂

I stamped the 04/29 on the back of a scrap piece of paper and created my own little banner so that I could use the “2017” flair. That is the date these two little love birds are getting married.

I love the little word label printables that came with the Clique Kits. They make great fillers for just about any project. I can always find a good use for them.

Locker Room: Moments like this…

Hi everybody. Nicole here with a fun layout. I’ve been wanting to use the pin wheel digital cut file from Just Nick Studio’s shop for awhile, but never knew how I wanted to use it on my layout until I received this month’s kit. I love the bright colors in this kit. It makes me so HAPPY. 🙂 I needed something to feel happy about after a rough Monday at work. So after I came home and fixed Edward dinner, I scrapped this layout. Once I matted my patterned paper with the digital cut file that I cut on white cardstock, the layout came together pretty quickly.

For fun, I added the enamel dots to the center of the pin wheels to make them pop. Doesn’t it look so cool? I did my best to match the enamel dots with the background patterns so that the two blended together nicely.

I used several die cuts and a piece of transparency to help frame my photo. The adorable sticker words were apart of the Swan Lake kit. Love them!

Geek Lab: Best friends

Hi all. Nicole here with another layout using the September Moon Child kit. For this layout, I decided to use the cut-apart paper along with three different cut files from Just Nick Studio’s shop. Normally, I would only use one or two cut files at the most, but if you are looking for ways to stretch your kit, use cut files! I’ve been wanting to try the Floral Burst Background cut file for sometime now. I really love it.

best friends two

I used the Open Triangle cut file and the Stems cut file on the journaling card. I decorated the center of the cut file using a chipboard heart and  an enamel dot.

I tucked the Floral Burst Background cut file slightly behind my cluster of journaling cards.

I used the cut-apart banner flag to help pull my journaling together along with a die cut triangle and some chipboard shapes.

Hello Summer

Hey everyone!!  Erica popping in today with you to share a layout I created using the June 2016 kit!  Now just to let you know this kit is still available in the CK shop now so if you have had your eye on this kit now is the time to grab it!

We hope you have been enjoying all the projects by the CK design team and if you missed the blog hop with Just Nick you can check it out HERE!  We will be picking a winner soon so you still have time to comment and have a chance to win!

Today I am using one of the exclusive Just Nick Studio cut files that comes with the June 2016 kit!  I love all the cut files and what I love to do it change the size of the files to stretch the life of the cut file!  You can create so many different looks with just one file!

CK_Jun2016_CutFiles-web CK_Jun2016_CutFiles-web2

I took the Hello Summer cut and enlarged it to be a focal piece of my layout!  The photo is of me and my little guy Eli James at the baseball fields!  Our summer nights seem to be spent at the fields!  With 3 kids in ball and one in two different leagues we spend a lot of time watching ball!  Keeping Eli busy is a must because he does get tired of waching ball pretty quick so we make funny faces and take pics until he gets bored! lol

My layout is pretty simple but I had so much creating it!  I just love the cut file and I cut it smaller so be on the look out for another layout from me using the cut file!

I also love added the new Bella Blvd enamel hearts to all my layouts!  I think the white ones are my fav!  Have you picked any of these up yet?  They are the perfect embellishment for any project!  You can grab them and check them out HERE!

Here is a look at my finished layout and I hope you enjoyed it!  Below you can check out the process video on my YouTube channel!  I would love for you to subscibe and stay tuned as I will be sharing the Clique into Summer kit and I have some fun stuff coming up in JULY!!!  Have a wonderful weekend and I will chat with you all soon!

On Repeat

I’ve always wanted to do a repetitive picture layout but I wasn’t sure how to put it together.  Finally, with this June’s Kit, I was able to put the pieces together in my head enough to go for it!  I figured out I could use the repetitive picture as the “paper” and mask it somehow to make it a little softer.

I printed out the same picture and pasted it as a base with some Ellie’s Studio Paper as the foundation and accent.

Then using the exclusive Just Nick Cut Files, I isolated the circle shape.

Repeating it and with different sizes, I made my own cut file design.

The journaling was printed on velum and placed on the bottom with a row of labels covered with the vellum as a base.

Again, more layers of paper underneath the main picture with bits of the same repeat picture peeking through the cut file.

I always seem to go for the stapler! Guess I appreciate the industrial look in a softer layout to balance it. #stapleallthethings 🙂

Here is the whole layout! Thanks for stopping by today!XOXOXO-Kim

June Guest Designer – Janet Zeppa

student of the month

Hi everyone! I’m Janet and I have to say that I am so excited to be a guest designer for Clique Kits.

I have been a Clique Kit subscriber for over a year now and I am always thrilled to get my “pizza box” full of amazing goodies every month! I love to make 12 x 12 layouts and cards.

For my base I used the gorgeous pink ombre paper from Elle’s Studio and backed it with some black and then white cardstock. On top of the ombre paper I used the gorgeous floral background cut file for June created by JustNick.

I backed my photo with layers of some of the 6X6 papers included in the kit. I used one of the exclusive journaling cards as a place to feature my title created with one of the gorgeous PinkFresh Studio foam words. A couple of embellishment clusters with some scattered sequins and my layout was complete!

Here are a couple of closeups for you.

I love how my layout turned out and I just know that you will all love the June kit…la dolce vita!!  To get your hands on this kit check out the website and subscribe today!  Also check out some of the fun new products to hit the shop!

Geek Lab:Time to shine

Good morning friends! I have a fun layout to have a fun layout to share with you today. Initially, this was supposed to be a simple layout. However, I just couldn’t leave it alone. The first thing I did, before adhering anything down was run my white cardstock through my silhouette to create a scribble heart using a yellow sketch pen. I had to play with it a bit. The first one came out too large so I flipped the cardstock over and tried again. It’s a great way to get a stamped image without having to mess with acrylic stamps and inks. Skip the mess and try using your silhouette!

After I placed everything down and added a few taps of mist, I still wasn’t satisfied so I pulled out my word stencils by We R Memory Keepers. It’s been a while since I hand-stitched on a layout so I decided to do something different for a change. I didn’t like how the fuchsia looked on the layout so I pulled out a blue permanent marker and lightly traced the thread to change the color. It took a while, but I think it complimented the layout nicely. What do you think?

And here a rea few close-ups:
