Art Studio With Hannah

Art Studio

Aloha!! Today I am going to sharing the double page spread that I made for the May Challenge, which is to use gold, mixed media and the sketch and cute file that Maryam created. I am also using the May Sorbet Kit.  Here is a look at the Sketch again.

I started out by using the cut file in my Silhouette with a gold sketch pen. After I decided it wasn’t bright enough so I went over it with a green gold jelly roll pen. I the green will go well with my picture.

I decided from the start that I wanted to put a spin on this sketch and cut file. I resize the file to fit inside an 8 and 1/2 layout. I also took a couple of rows of triangles off the cut file. This will help my triangles to fit mostly on the right side.

I also knew I wanted to use one really large photo. I really wanted it to fill up most of the patterned paper so only a bit sticks out. Then I add some Shimmerz Paste-eez with a stencil on the bottom right side and the top left side.

I added some of the die cuts from the May Sorbet Kit along with some of the exclusive printables. I use a mix of the pieces from the Main kit printables  and the exclusive printables for the Traveler’s Notebook Kit.

I layered the mixed media right on the photo. I really wanted it draw you eye to the photo and from the bottom to the top. Using a green colored modeling paste also helped it not stick out but blend and work with the colors of the photo.

I did this for the top and the bottom. Using different shaped and sizes in the layered embellishments helps tie everything together.

IMG_5423

A little gold thread adds some more gold and some texture. By mirroring some of the same shapes and colors in both embellishment clusters it helps create a cohesive look.

I do this with the second page of this double spread. I punch out a few circles and look for some die-cut triangles and circle.

IMG_5427.jpg

On this second side I add more Shimmerz Paste-eez on top of the big triangles. I tried to be aware of directions of the small triangles too. I wanted them to look layered and not a little chaotic.

On top of the white card stock I spritzed my Shimmerz spray in green, blue and coral. These colors are similar to ones in the Pink Fresh Studio Dream On Collection in the Kit.

The mix of big and little drops look really similar to watercolor. I didn’t use gesso, this did make my sprays warp the card stock, but I wanted my sprays to dry faster and not move around o the page too much.

IMG_5429.jpg

I used the basic design of the Sketch Maryam created. I have layered pattern pieces for the middle of my layout. I add a cut apart piece from the Kit. I loved finding papers just work perfectly together to form edges around the big cluster. I am using this for journaling instead of a photo. Since I already have a big photo, I didn’t feel I needed another photo.

This photo of the woods on my drive around the area, is one of my favorite views, Especially now that it is spring and all the trees are coming back to life and standing really tall.

I add some of the Pink Fresh Studio gold mirror pieces around my journaling. This add on and more are in the May Kit Section. I hope you check them out and purchase what you want to add to your kit. These little things help add more life to your kit.

IMG_5425.jpg

I used dimensional adhesive to give shadows under the layers. It also helps still show the mixed media I did on the background. After all the fun work I did, to cover it all would be a same.

IMG_5428

I added my title about the main cluster instead of below. I also had the main cluster a little lower on the page. I use the Gold Thickers from the Kit along with some Doodlebug Design blue tile alpha’s. I like how this blue picks on the blue spray not the background.

IMG_5426

These bird circles are so cute and remind me of nature, and their singing in the forest. They go perfect with my picture. I love how Maryam matched the Printable to the puffy stickers and die cuts in the kit.

Again I made sure to use similar shapes on both sides of my double page spread. It helps it flow together and feel like one layout inside of two sides, even though they are clearly different.

Here is a look at my finished spread. It really shows the vast and tall trees that I am surrounded by everyday, and I feel so lucky to experience them.

Moment to Remember

yearbook

Hi friends. Today, I am sharing another layout I created using Clique Kit’s Swan Lake kit. I love the patterns and color palette of this kit. It’s a pretty kit, but not too pretty to scrap little boys… For this layout, I wanted to have a little fun with it so I played with some Shimmerz Paints and fussy cutting. The squares were hand-cut from the patterned paper. Then I used foam squares to make a few pop up off the page. I used some of the exclusive journal cards and cut-aparts as well. Can you spot them? They are available in our digital shop! Check them out here! Once the paint was dry and the Nuvo drops, the layout came together in a snap. Lots of layers of tags and journaling cards here.

The photo was from when Edward and I walked in Washington D.C. with thousands of other people to help raise money to BEAT cancer. This was my 7th year participating and Edward’s 2nd year! I loved having him with me. And the best thing about it was, he enjoyed it too.

Hello all. Nicole here with a fun project to share with you. I finally got a chance o get messy with this travelers notebook. Have you gotten yours yet? I think there’s one more in the shop if you are interested. Snag it now, (here) quick, because it might be gone by the time you get finished seeing what I did with mine.

I am relatively happy with how this turned out. However, I did make a mistake. I did NOT apply gesso to the travel notebook BEFORE I applied the paint which means that it didn’t take long before the paint started to peel off the notebook. So before you do anything with yours, do yourself a favor and apply gesso to your travel notebook right now.

I added some scraps in the supply case to have on hand whenever I feel the need to decorate a page. I love blue so I gathered a few blue pieces of embellishments. 🙂

I used lots of acrylic paints and watercolor paints to decorate my travel notebook inserts. I love the acrylic paints by Ranger. The colors are so vibrant. I used watercolor paints by Prima and Shimmerz Paints as well.

For the folder insert, I decorated it with blue and green acrylic paint. Once dried, I used a paint dabber to make little white circles on the cover. Then I painted a thicker word and applied it to the front of the insert.

Geek Lab: Me

Hello everyone. Nicole here with a fun layout. I am not sure if you’ve noticed, but I LOVE patterned paper. I love how you can get a semi-funky look by mixing different papers together. Sometimes, I don’t want my layout to look like everything coordinates perfectly. I like to mix it up a bit.

For this layout, I used a mixture of Fancy Pants Designs, Cocoa Vanilla and Clique Kit’s exclusive journaling cards! I love the sentiment of the journaling card from the July “Raskog” kit and decided to use it for this layout. The others journaling cards came with the Rio kit!

I used a few of the add-ons on this layout. I love the washi tape and enamel dots. I simply cannot get enough of them. I tied a piece of ribbon from my stash onto the clip and stapled the string from my tag onto the layout to prevent the string from moving around. For the photo, I used a photo editing program to create a collage of photos and then printed it out so I’d have a nice square sized photo for my project. I painted the veneer with the Don’t Citron Me Coloringz from Shimmerz Paints and sprayed some in the background of my layout. We have some Shimmerz Paints in the store! Click here to check out the add-ons and mixed media products we have in the store.

Art Studio: Hello sunshine

artstudioheader
Hello sunshine! I have a fun layout to share with you today. I decided to play with my Shimmerz Paints and doodling. I decided to use mainly blues and greens with touch of gold for this layout. Colors that complimented the photo so well. I used lots of foam squares to pop up my die cuts from the page. And I love the vellum tape included in the August Clique Kit from Pretty Little Studio. It compliments this kit nicely!
Here are a few close-ups:
I used a water brush to add the shimmery paints to my background. I didn’t worry too much about making sure the scribbled background looked neat. I just went to town. Once the paint was dry, I hand-doodled the heart. I really should have used a pencil first… luckily, it turned out ok, otherwise I would have wasted two perfect papers! Yea, I’m crazy like that. 🙂
I did use a pencil to trace the journaling lines first before using a pen… Then after I traced the lines with a pen, I erased the pencil marks.

June Clique Kit Blog Share

Hi everybody. It’s Nicole here, wishing you a fabulous Wednesday! Welcome to the June Pep Rally. This month, we hope to inspire you with the “La Dolce Vita” kit. I am loving all the Elle’s Studio and Jillibean Soup goodies. What an awesome combination, don’t ya think? I especially love all the embellishments in this kit. YUM.
For our challenge this month, we went with anything goes, but challenged our design team to include journaling on their projects.
The Pep Rally, for those of you who are new to the Clique, is our monthly subscriber and design team blog share typically held the third week of the month and participants earn product credits-yes, free stuff to do what you love-who can beat that? It’s out with the old, in with the new time at Clique Kits when we (hopefully) have all killed our kit from the previous month and have lots to show off, and we start to chat and hype the excitement for the coming month’s kit. In other words, we party! We don’t leave out our guests-there is always a prize for a hopper who comments on each post and likes and shares on social media! Just leave a new comment for each like and share for a separate entry in the random drawing for this month’s prize. One lucky person will win this month’s La Dolce Vita! Get the word out and have your friends join our Pep Rally because they might end up with this gorgeous kit at their doorsteps!
Here’s today’s line up:

Feel free to hop in any order, if you get lost, you can always come back here to find your place. This month, I decided to add a little Shimmerz to my project using a circle stencil. Since I ran out of patterned paper I decided to punch circles from the exclusive cards. Doesn’t this layout look so neat? I love it!
