Field Notes – MY PERSONAL JOURNAL

CK- Field Notes -traveler notes - header

Hello Clique Kits friends!

Nathalie here with a new entry to my personal journal (aka my TN) using pieces from the beautiful “Aquarelle” kit, and a few other goodies from the Clique Kits Store.

sneak1

Most of you know that I keep a personal journal, which i use as my Project Life/ daily documenter method.  Though there is days that only writing appears on the page, there are those other times when you  need to include pictures.  I have kept a journal for a long time, so i am always trying to come up with new ideas for my entries – “Life is all about variety”-.  Here is one of the entries from a few weeks ago  after attending a 65th birthday party for a very good close friend of the family!

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-2

Our friend Martha loves flowers, so i set to create  a background for the page using the  Daisy  Layering Stamp from Altenew -which i picked from the Clique Store-.   For these flowers, I pulled a few archival inks, as well as some Hampton Arts inks from my stash, and stamped the flowers on a lightweight watercolor paper cut to the size of my TN page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-3

I tried my best to leave the center of the stamped page clear, so  the eye is drawn to the center of the page.  For this page, I pulled more goodies from the Clique Store -you should really check all the goodies available for sale at the store- in this case i am using Pink Paislee’s C’est La Vie Acetate letters, and the clear stickers to create the title of this page.  I paired them with some of the Aquarelle TN kit exclusive printables, and a piece of the branding  strip of the Wild at Heart collection papers.   I just love how the black in the title pops from the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-4

Before gluing the page down to the TN, I cut a piece of vellum to fit the TN size, leaving about 3/4 in extra along the short side of the piece -the vellum measured 8×5 in for this spread-.  I marked with a bone folder the extra space of the vellum.  Before attaching it to the TN, i stitched one of the cards included in the Aquarelle TN kit, and added my sentiment.  Then glued the extra flap from the vellum piece to the TN, and added the stamped page on top of the vellum flap glued to the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-6

Before completely stitching the  card to the vellum, i added one of the stamped images – i created some extra flowers, and fussy cut them- , some of the large flower sequin from the May kit releases, and a few gold flower sequin from my stash.  I just love that little shaker pocket, and surprise as you turn the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-7

I took so many pictures of the celebration that day, but wanted to keep the focus of the page on Martha and her family ( we are very close friends of the entire familly), so I created a film strip of some of the pictures, layered a bit of the tissue paper that the kits come wrapped with, and glued it to the center of a piece of copy paper cut to the TN size.  Here, all the rest of the fussy cut flowers were used to frame the picture strip.  I pulled one of the fabric labels from the Aquarelle kit  – i was lucky to receive the “Birthday Wishes” in my kit-, and one of the copper asterisks from the Alpha set.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-5

All Clique Kits are always loaded with lots of goodies that make their way to my stash, so i pulled some of the stickers from the Love Always kit  -which sold out-, and added them to one of the clusters of this page.  I love how this spread came together (sorry no video this time!),  the beautiful stamped flowers worked perfect to document this lovely lady on her 65th birthday.

There are so many products available at the Clique Store that have been carefully curated to match all the kits, so stop by to check most of the products used in this spread, and many more for some beautiful upcoming kits.  As always I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Geek Lab: Don’t give up

Hello CK friends! Maryám here to share a card using the June 2017 printables and some Clique Cuts that I designed this month for the shop.

For the base of the card I used white neenah cardstock. The cut file was cut with my Silhouette Cameo and I backed it up with a paper from Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection.

On the center of the card I put two flowers from the printable sheet that I fussy cut with my scissors. As a title I used a word that says “don’t give up” and at the end I added some enamel dots.

Here are some close-ups to see more details:

I hope you liked my card and I can’t wait to see what you will create using the CK exclusives of this month.

Have a wonderful day friends!

Guest Designer Heather Doolittle|| These Happy Moments

Hi everyone! It’s Heather Doolittle back today with another page that I made using the June Aquarelle main scrapbook kit!

I’m such a sucker for floral patterned papers and just HAD to cut out some of the florals from the Wild at Heart papers in the kit this month. Although these florals don’t have definitive edges (they overlap somewhat), I selective trimmed out the pieces that I wanted to use for this layout. I made two focal clusters with the flowers and then made a third focal point with the title. I feel like these three clusters ‘nestle’ the photo, if you know what I mean. 🙂

I totally love these copper alphabet stickers from Pinkfresh Studio. They’re the perfect size for everything! And I love that there are so many in a pack! They will definitely stretch far on your projects.

The little typewritten words are from THIS set of printables. As you can see, I added one to the title as well. They’re so perfect.

I appreciate you stopping by to see what I made with this month’s Aquarelle kit!

Art Studio – BEAUTIFUL – Love Yourself –

CK - Art Studio header

Hello Clique Kits Fans!

I am back with a fun new layout using the oh so gorgeous “Aquarelle” main kit.   This month’s kit features one of my favorite paper collections to date, Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s Wild at Heart.

s254461307115203172_p1805_i1_w1200
I have been saving the picture featured in this layout for the right paper, but when i got to document it, pieces from both the Double Dot, and Mariposa papers  have been cut – no complete pages that could be used as a background.   So i set to combine both papers, and create my own butterfly designs for the page.  Here is a small video on how the page was created, enjoy!

You guys know i am obsessed with butterflies!  and since i needed quite a few of them, i doodle a butterfly, and used it as a cut  file to create the different size butterflies on my Silhouette Cameo.  Before taking the butterflies from the cutting mat, a light sprinkle of blue and mint ink was sprayed on them.

CK_Nathalie DeSousa_June2017_BEAUTIFUL-Love Yourself--3

I wanted to give the butterflies  a watercolor finish, so I used Distress Oxides (you can use all sort of media for this method) and a crafting mat -you can use an acrylic block, or a plastic sheet/package-.  I stamped a few inks  separately on the mat, and diluted them with a bit of water -making sure little droplets of color formed on the surface-.   Each butterfly then was put in contact with the water droplets, i made sure to smoosh the butterfly a bit, and then left it to dry.  Once they were completely dried, a precision pen was used to draw a thin line around the edge of the butterflies, and voila!  I had my embellishments.

CK_Nathalie DeSousa_June2017_BEAUTIFUL-Love Yourself--6

Fortunately,  i was able to match the papers on an angle to form the mat.  A bit of machine stitching secures them to the page.   The seam was the line i used to create the group of floating butterflies from the title at the bottom right of the page to the picture at the top left corner of the mat.   If you haven’t checked this month’s add ons, then rush to the Clique Store.   There you will find the Wild at Heart add ons, including the wood veneer used in this page.

CK_Nathalie DeSousa_June2017_BEAUTIFUL-Love Yourself--5CK_Nathalie DeSousa_June2017_BEAUTIFUL-Love Yourself--4

The picture was backed with one of the exclusive cards from the Aquarelle kit.   A few clusters made of ephemera pieces, the exclusive printables, fussy cut pieces and the lovely rubber charms -all included in the main kit– were created around the picture.  A few drops of gold ink complete the layout:

CK_Nathalie DeSousa_June2017_BEAUTIFUL-Love Yourself--2

I am so glad that the butterfly idea worked perfect for this page.  Like i mentioned, the Aquarelle kit is so beautiful, you will use even the paper scraps.   Unfortunately, subscriptions for kits are sold out, but there are still a few a la carte Aquarelle kits available at the Clique Store, so you better rush to pick one.

If you have any questions on how this layout came together, do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for stopping by!

Field Notes: Beautiful

Hey friends! It’s Maryám here and today I’m going to share with you a traveler’s notebook spread using the beautiful June 2017 printables designed by Sheryl Banares, and also some stuff from the shop.

On the right side of the spread I created a cluster of embellishments, and over the tags I put my journaling that I previously wrote with my typewriter.

Here are some details:

To embellish the cluster I added some butterflies, enamel dots, puffy stickers and some rubber shapes.

On the other side I put a big photo with a flower and tiny word from the printables on the top.

I had already used the photo of my spread in another layout, but I decided to print it again in a bigger version because I like that photo so much!

I hope you liked my project and don’t forget to use the AMAZING printables of this month, and don’t forget to check our shop to see more fun stuff.

Have a wonderful day!

Geek Lab: Shine Like The Stars

Hello, everyone!

Donna here with another layout I created using the June kit “Aquarelle” featuring the gorgeous collection Wild at Heart by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.s254461307115203172_p1805_i1_w1200

First, let me show you how I used one of this month’s cut files and the canvas star.

I remembered I have these metallic acrylic paints and thought I’d use them for this project. I combined green and blue metallic acrylic paints to color the cut file. Then used a gold paint marker to color the middle part of the cut file. I also used a pink metallic acrylic paint to color the canvas star. After it has dried, I used gold embossing powder (brushed embossing ink randomly first) and set it with a heat tool. I like the sparkly effect afterward.

Here is my finished layout

DONNAESPIRITU-AQUARELLE-LAYOUT02_

I cut 3 strips of patterned papers and adhered to the left and right sides. I used the same acrylic paints to splatter colors onto the white cardstock. Just a few to add subtle colors.

DONNAESPIRITU-AQUARELLE-LAYOUT02_1

I used a couple of the journal cards as mats to the photo and a couple of the frames as well.

DONNAESPIRITU-AQUARELLE-LAYOUT02_2

I love the effect of the metallic acrylic paints!DONNAESPIRITU-AQUARELLE-LAYOUT02_3

I used the canvas star as a base and clustered a few die cuts and flair on it.

That’s all from me today! Don’t forget to check the store for some fab deals!

Happy crafting,

Geek Lab: Me

Hi everybody. Nicole here with a layout I created using goodies from the shop! If you haven’t been to the shop, you might want to take a look. We have some fabulous product marked down! And yes, everything used on this layout is available in the shop, but hurry because they might not be available for long.

For this layout, I decided to use the Pink Paislee “Cest La Vie” paper pack, acetate alphas, stickers and Jillibean Soup’s vellum foil tag.

I really like the patterns in the acetate paper that comes in the paper back so I decided to use the vellum tag to cut part of the patterned from the acetate paper to layer on the tag. I must say, it looks so pretty!

I cut several pieces of patterns, sentiments, shapes from the cut-apart paper and acetate to use as die cuts for this layout since I did not have any on hand.

I love patterned paper because the possibilities are endless. You can mix patterns to create a fun background for your layout, cut the paper into a patterned using a Silhouette or cut bits and pieces/sentiments from the patterns to use as die cuts for your layout.

Before adhering the acetate embellishments to your layout,, make sure you peel the plastic film off… Let me just say, I did not…

Thanks for visiting today. Be sure to check out the shop today for some great deals!

Yearbook | DREAM BIG

CK - Yearbook PL -header

Hello Crafty Friends!

Nathalie here with a new project featuring this month’s super gorgeous Aquarelle main kit.   Seriously, this kit is so versatile, full of color, and watercolor designs that  are perfect for documenting all your cherished memories.

sneak1

I love butterflies, and the “Mariposa” paper included in the kit was the starting point for this  layout.   However, I went ahead and search the Clique Kits digital store for a butterfly cut file, and found this one from January 2016.  The combination of color and clean lines of the butterflies in this project bring the page to life.

JAn 2016

I love capturing my kids and littles growth, however, i always chose to photograph the difference in their progress using a fixed object.  This time, after a quick shopping trip to Michael’s, both, my daughter and niece -unknowingly to each other- bought the same bracelet.  “DREAM BIG” is what the beads in the bracelet spelled; and i used the bracelet as my point of reference to compare their developments -they are 6 years apart after all-   So sit, and enjoy a compressed version of  how this page came together:

For this page, I chose to create a watercolor background using a few Prima watercolor palettes.  The color splatters can easily be created by sprinkling some water drops, followed by some ink splatters (on top of the water ones), and then using a round brush connecting the color and water droplets together.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG

Though I created the background with a different design in mind, the change of orientation of the background helps the overall look of the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG-4

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG-5

The cut out butterflies were backed with vellum, and randomly stitched to the watercolor background.   All the fussy cut butterflies from the “Mariposa” paper included in the Aquarelle kit were sprinkled around the page, and also sewn into the layout.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG-5

The exclusive cards that are included in this month’s kit serves  as the layer behind the picture.  In addition to finding the cut files, I also found some exclusive printables  in the store (September 2015 kit) that also match the colors of the Aquarelle kit.  The large tab from this printable serves as  part of one of the clusters created around the picture.  The rest of the embellishments come from the die cut pack, and this month’s exclusive printables.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG-6

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG-7

To create a visual triangle on the page, another small cluster was created at the top of the page using pieces from the kit along with a piece of the paper’s branding strip.   The title of the page is “DREAM BIG” which is what the beads on the bracelets spell.  I am not big on alphas, but this month’s Pinkfresh Studio copper set is so beautiful,   it needs to be featured in your projects.  After adding the journal lines, here is the final layout:

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_JUNE2017_DREAM BIG-3

Can you tell, i love butterflies?  Trust me, I think i used at least one of them in almost all my projects this month (there are still a few more projects coming to the blog soon!).  But you will also be reaching for your detailing scissors to fussy cut this lovely designs.   The Aquarelle kit is just a dream to work with.  If you haven’t checked the kit, run to the Clique Store to pick one of the few left (i hope they haven’t sold out yet!).

You can always leave me a comment if you have any questions on how this page came together.

Thanks for stoppping by!

Guest Designer | Heather Doolittle

Hi everyone! It’s Heather Doolittle here today to share my first project I have made with the June Aquarelle scrapbook kit! I’m a guest designer this month, and I have had a lot of fun playing with this absolutely GORGEOUS kit. This Wild at Heart collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio is so pretty, and all of the embellishments in this kit are amazing.

Before getting to the layout, let me introduce myself. 🙂

Hi! My name is Heather Doolittle (formerly Heather Adams) and I am a 22-year-old graphic designer from the beautiful state of West Virginia. I have been scrapbooking since 2009— my mom had bought some scrapbook supplies for my birthday a few years prior and I just decided to use them one day. I’ve been hooked ever since! It’s crazy how happy pretty paper can make me. Besides crafting, I love traveling with my handsome hubby (we travel for his work), spending time with our families, and trying new things here and there- like scuba diving! My husband is a very adventurous person, so who knows what I will do in my lifetime! As a graphic designer, I have recently had the pleasure of creating collections for Pretty Little Studio. It’s so much fun seeing my designs out in the “wild”! I am so happy to be guest designing for Clique Kits this month!

So this is the first layout that I made upon receiving the Aquarelle kit. At first, it’s all so pretty you almost don’t know what to use first! I chose the Fussy Cuts paper and cut out several of the elements from that page. Then I started arranging everything on my 8.5×11″ page. I usually use white cardstock for my backgrounds, so I thought this time I’d add a little bit of mixed media to the plain paper. Using my Gansai Tambi watercolors, I painted a big swash of coral on the background, adding some splatters at the last.
love1love7love6

After the paint dried, I put the pieces back on the page (There’s SO many adorable, love-y phrases in the Wild at Heart collection– wish I could have used them all!) and finished embellishing with a diecut and rubber phrase arrow from the kit. I thought about machine stitching on some of the pieces, but I changed my mind and left it as is. Instead, I added some tiny attacher staples for texture.

love5love4love3

I used foam adhesive to glue down the heart, butterfly, and flower. That way there’s some dimension to the page!

love2

Thanks for stopping by, and I can’t wait to share my next project with you soon!

-Heather
