Field Notes – MY PERSONAL JOURNAL

CK- Field Notes -traveler notes - header

Hello Clique Kits friends!

Nathalie here with a new entry to my personal journal (aka my TN) using pieces from the beautiful “Aquarelle” kit, and a few other goodies from the Clique Kits Store.

sneak1

Most of you know that I keep a personal journal, which i use as my Project Life/ daily documenter method.  Though there is days that only writing appears on the page, there are those other times when you  need to include pictures.  I have kept a journal for a long time, so i am always trying to come up with new ideas for my entries – “Life is all about variety”-.  Here is one of the entries from a few weeks ago  after attending a 65th birthday party for a very good close friend of the family!

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-2

Our friend Martha loves flowers, so i set to create  a background for the page using the  Daisy  Layering Stamp from Altenew -which i picked from the Clique Store-.   For these flowers, I pulled a few archival inks, as well as some Hampton Arts inks from my stash, and stamped the flowers on a lightweight watercolor paper cut to the size of my TN page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-3

I tried my best to leave the center of the stamped page clear, so  the eye is drawn to the center of the page.  For this page, I pulled more goodies from the Clique Store -you should really check all the goodies available for sale at the store- in this case i am using Pink Paislee’s C’est La Vie Acetate letters, and the clear stickers to create the title of this page.  I paired them with some of the Aquarelle TN kit exclusive printables, and a piece of the branding  strip of the Wild at Heart collection papers.   I just love how the black in the title pops from the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-4

Before gluing the page down to the TN, I cut a piece of vellum to fit the TN size, leaving about 3/4 in extra along the short side of the piece -the vellum measured 8×5 in for this spread-.  I marked with a bone folder the extra space of the vellum.  Before attaching it to the TN, i stitched one of the cards included in the Aquarelle TN kit, and added my sentiment.  Then glued the extra flap from the vellum piece to the TN, and added the stamped page on top of the vellum flap glued to the page.

Before completely stitching the  card to the vellum, i added one of the stamped images – i created some extra flowers, and fussy cut them- , some of the large flower sequin from the May kit releases, and a few gold flower sequin from my stash.  I just love that little shaker pocket, and surprise as you turn the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_ JUNE2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-7

I took so many pictures of the celebration that day, but wanted to keep the focus of the page on Martha and her family ( we are very close friends of the entire familly), so I created a film strip of some of the pictures, layered a bit of the tissue paper that the kits come wrapped with, and glued it to the center of a piece of copy paper cut to the TN size.  Here, all the rest of the fussy cut flowers were used to frame the picture strip.  I pulled one of the fabric labels from the Aquarelle kit  – i was lucky to receive the “Birthday Wishes” in my kit-, and one of the copper asterisks from the Alpha set.

All Clique Kits are always loaded with lots of goodies that make their way to my stash, so i pulled some of the stickers from the Love Always kit  -which sold out-, and added them to one of the clusters of this page.  I love how this spread came together (sorry no video this time!),  the beautiful stamped flowers worked perfect to document this lovely lady on her 65th birthday.

There are so many products available at the Clique Store that have been carefully curated to match all the kits, so stop by to check most of the products used in this spread, and many more for some beautiful upcoming kits.  As always I am a comment away if you have questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Yearbook: Be Impossible To Forget

yearbook

Hello Crafty friends!

Happy Spring to everyone!   Today,  I wanted to share with you all a new project created with the beautiful Jellybean kit.   This kit has the most beautiful papers from Bella Blvd.’s Make the Mark collection, as well as Paige Evan’s Oh My Heart collection, and it is full of embellishments that complement the papers.

CK_Apr17_Kit14

We all have special ways to mark the height of our kids as they grow.  My choice has always been to photograph them against a fixed reference.  Last summer as we took the littles (my niece and nephew) to the fair,  they all had to be measured before going on the rides.  Finally my daughter (now 14) reached the adult height requirement, and the littlest also reached the height to be able to go on the rides.  To mark this growth spurt, I simply photographed their bracelets showing the milestone.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_APRIL 2017_BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FORGET-4

I was drawn to the words on the Impossible paper from Bella Blvd. -included in the Jellybean kit-, and I knew the title was going to be formed by fussy cutting the words out.

The background for this project was created using a heart cut file (#65661) from the silhouette store.  The patterned papers used to back the cut file all came from the Jellybean kit, I simply followed the color palette of the Impossible paper (that is what is so wonderful about these kits, all papers are curated to work harmoniously together)

I love this kit so much, I set to use a piece of each of the goodies included in my little pizza box from Clique Kits, even the doily (and I am not a doily person! 🙂  ) Here is the final layout:

I have created a small video on how this layout came together,  just sit down and enjoy!:

Aren’t the colors in the Jellybean kit just amazing?  I hope this has inspire you to find  a creative way to capture your kid’s growth, and a fun way to document it, too.  Remember that you can find all the details on this kit, and add ons on the Clique Kit Store -there is always new goodies available at the store-.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Share Your Space | Stephanie Gold

Hey everyone!! Stephanie Gold from Golden Simplicity here this month for some Share Your Space fun! I sort of took over our home office at our old house so when we moved this summer, I made sure to organize the room to be more craft room with a side of home office. 😉 I am the home “office manager” anyway, right?!

Starting off our luxurious tour, I will bring you to the office side of the room which is beautifully decorated with this old… I mean VINTAGE… folding table typically used for parties when covered in plastic table cloths. It sits on top of a few gorgeous plastic tubs with items from our move that have been sitting there for months and will probably end up getting donated in a couple years when I decide I no longer need them sitting at my feet.

img_2765

The lovely desktop computer has proven no longer working, but still contains all of my addresses so here it sits, a completely non functional, expensive, Apple computer shaped statue until I can figure out how to fix it (don’t tell hubby). The chair is actually from my parent’s dining set growing up and is surprisingly comfortable… this might actually qualify as vintage haha.

img_2767

On the other side of this gorgeous piece of furniture you’ll find my Silhouette, paper cutter, cardstock organizer, and my $3 Target steal of a light pink card base holder thingy (completely scientific term).

img_2768

On the left of the folding table and fancy computer “art” is my printer which sits on top of our filing cabinet and the “No Craft Room Is Complete Without” Teal Raskog Cart (but this sucker is seriously amazing and I can’t imagine my life without it).

img_2757

The top of my cart holds all of my inks and acrylic blocks, colored pencils & pens, date stamp, and some oddball items like those gold clips, chapstick, and that one random Maggie Holmes stamp that I love. 🙂

img_2762

The middle holds all of my dies, washi tapes, and my baby wipes which are adorned with sort of a “steal these and see what happens” note (but it’s ok because I put a smiley face at the end of it).

img_2764

And then the bottom holds all of my punches, MISTI, and embellishments organized in plastic bags inside that yellow wire basket.

img_2777

Onto my craft desk which I couldn’t fit all in one picture… apologies!! The left side has my clock/speaker/phone charger iHome thingamabobber (again, scientific) and my Traveler’s Notebook which I use quite often. I write all over my mat with random quotes and phrases and song lyrics and it ends up getting pretty filled up. My kids also like to come scribble something down for me or place a sticker on there for me too. 🙂

img_2770

I have some Moroccan lanterns, a family photo of my lovies, and a framed quote that keeps me motivated… The birdy is from my Grandpa’s house – it always reminds me of him. And then I have feathers and some paper antlers always hanging out (don’t know why… I just like them because I’m all hippie and random) and right now I have these gorgeous dried leaves too that one of my besties brought back for me from up north because fall is my favorite – isn’t that the SWEETEST?! Love her… Real leaves are hard to come by around here (I live in the desert) so I truly love having these around. 🙂

img_2775

And then the right side of my desk has the tools I use the most… scissors, adhesives, a few more washi tapes, doilies, water colors, water color paper, rulers, etc… and then my beloved Big Shot. 🙂 I have clear plastic containers (99 cents from Home Depot ya’ll!!) on a shelf with all of my DT stamp sets. I’m pretty big on keeping my stash and tools low and I don’t like spending top dollar on organization either. Most everything I use is either hand me down, gift, or Target dollar aisle.

Welp, that’s basically it!! Thank you all for stopping by to check out my little crafty space!! Much love friends!

Xo, Stephanie
