Field Notes: First Day

Hello, friends! I am here to share with you my last project as a design team member for Clique Kits. I have had a blast this past year. I have loved being on the Design Team and working with such amazing people. Thank you everyone for giving me this opportunity.

My traveler’s notebook spread today is all about my son’s first day of school. I can’t stop saying how much I love the colors in the September Sundance kit!

egudor_September2017_TN

I wanted to use lots of different patterns and colors, so I decided to use a star craft die to obtain multiple shapes in different sizes. I then placed them in a diagonal across the two pages, making sure to overlap them and create some texture and dimension.

egudor_September2017_TN_CloseUp2

The Freckled Fawn Puffy Alpha Stickers are the perfect addition to any project. I love their size and how they complement the design without being overwhelming.

egudor_September2017_TN_CloseUp1

I finished the spread with some sentiments from the 1Canoe2 sticker sheets and Fancy Pants Designs Puffy stickers.

Field Notes: A first look at my September TN

ck-field-notes-traveler-notes-header

Hello Clique fans! It’s Enza, and today I’m here to share a couple of spreads in my Travelers Notebook featuring the gorgeous Sundance Main Kit.
CK_Sep17_MainKit-24
Fall season is upon us and this kit is perfect to document it. Since the month has just started, the first thing I want to share is how I embellished the opening pages of my insert.
egudor_September3_FieldNotes
The patterned paper on the left-hand side is part of my cover. I made my own inserts a while ago and this just happened to match the colors in the kit perfectly. I used one of the exclusive Fall words cut files for the month, which I cut out of white card stock and tinted with a mini ink blending tool and Distress Inks from my stash.
ck-sep17-kitcuts-web2_origI placed it vertically along the left side of the page and added the word “memories” from the Freckled Fawn Puffy Alpha Stickers below it. I kept the embellishments to a minimum, just a few 1Canoe2 ephemera pieces and enamel dots.
egudor_September3_FieldNotes_CloseUp5
For the right side, I mainly used the exclusive printables that come with the kit this month. They are so gorgeous! Love them all!
egudor_September3_FieldNotes_CloseUp3
egudor_September3_FieldNotes_CloseUp4
I also created my first spread for this month.
egudor_September3_FieldNotes2
I used some of the Fancy Pants Dream Big patterned papers to cover both pages and adhered two strips of a different color along the spine to create some separation. The cut file peeking out of the photo is one of the older Clique Cuts that can be found in the digital store.
egudor_September3_FieldNotes_CloseUp1
A few stickers, die cuts and the Fancy Pants Puffy Sticker sentiment finished one side of the spread, while my journaling, which I typed and cut into strips, completed the other side.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you felt inspired to use the Sundance Kit for your September memories.
Have a lovely day!

Geek Lab with Hannah

Aloha!!

It’s Hannah with you here today. I am so excited to share this post. I am always thinking of fun ways I can mix up my kits. This month I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to use the cut files we get with our kits and cut my photo?!

This month Amy Horton gave us a cut file to use with the Traveler’s Notebook kit. The Sundance Traveler’s Notebook Kit features the Wish You Were Here collection by Pretty Little Studio and designed by Ashley Horton. It is colorful, travel themed and has some really fun and hip trees in it. I love this collection and this kit is so jammed packed and perfect for the Traveler’s Notebook.

I pulled out my silhouette and cut out the cut file with a couple of pieces of 4×6 patterned journaling cards from the kit. I also decided to be very brave. (I used a different cut file but we also offer digital files with our kits as well.)

I think one of the things about learning in scrapbooking is trying new things. Sometimes these things work out sometimes they don’t and you need to rethink your approach or try it a different way. This problem solving helps you grow as a scrapbooker. I also feel like if you are happy with the way you do things you shouldn’t have to change your style. But sometimes it is just good to try something new to remember why you love your style too.

All this for trying new things. I am cutting on my photo. I printed a big photo of Mt. Rainer from the zoo. I took it with my DSLR, did a simple edit on it. Printed in as a 5×7. This size a tad bigger than the Traveler’s notebook, but once I cut the cut file most of the extra stuff from the photo would be taken out.

If this is something you are wanting to do, I suggest using a photo you know most of the main stuff in the photo will get taken off. This should help pick a photo that can handle that. I choose a mountain image because it contained a lot of blue sky and then a different colored mountain. The mountain is easy and clear to see because it is way lighter than the sky. This difference in light and dark colors and solid less detail helps you see the image even though not all of it is really there.

Using a cut file on your photo can be so cool and a fun way to showcase the cut file and your photo.

This is what my photo looks like all cut,  not on my spread.

IMG_0121.jpg

I left most of the hello off from the cut file. It wasn’t actually on purpose but in the end I think I would have cut it off anyway so there was less blue from the sky.

I love how the plane has the dark colors from the landscape around the mountain.

Like I mentioned I cut the file with patterned paper as well. This is something I do often. I really like how using different patterns make the cut files look completely different.

I used the really nice Fancy Pants Traveler’s Notebook from the kit this month. I decided to add both the photo and the patterned paper cut file on my spread. CK Geek Lab Sneak with footer.jpg

I kept the spread really simple. Leaving lots of room for journaling. using the washi tape for layers. This also keeps the spread pretty flat , which is something I have been thinking a little more about lately. I want to be able to get my stories in these albums without having to not use pages because I can’t close my notebook.  Using cut files and washi tape for layers I don’t need to add as many layers, though it still looks like I did.

IMG_0159.jpg

I love the phrase and card stock stickers in this collection. They add some spunk to my spread.

IMG_0184.jpg

I used a small paper bag that came with my Clique Kits as a place to tuck a tag threaded with colorful twine.

IMG_0186.jpg

I finished off this spread with some heart die cuts with similar colors as my cut files. It really adds to my journaling without being really busy.

Paige Evans, Flora Farkas and Zsoka Marko

What are your trend predictions for 2018? Do you think we will still see pineapples and flamingos?

It’s always hard to predict what will show up in the paper crafting world, but I think it would be fun to see some collections that reflect the farmhouse look that is so popular in home decor right now. And I wouldn’t mind, if the pineapples and flamingos stick around, because let’s face it, they are always fun to use!

Thanks for connecting with our readers Ashley!  Shrimp tacos are some of my favorite too! Yearbook | MY SUMMER JOURNAL

Hello everyone!

I am back today with my final post using the beautiful and super colorful MALIBU TN kit.  If you haven’t checked the kit completely, then just click here -to be taken to the Clique Kits website-, and you could see the entire kit and add ons.

Malibu TN kit

I have kept a journal/diary since i was a small kid.  Through the years the format has changed, but I fell in love with TNs a few years back, and used them as my form of memory keeping/Project Life.   So I thought, I will share with you how i have incorporated the Malibu TN kit to some of my daily TN entries.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-3

We are babysitting my littles for the summer, so I had to snap a picture of the kids and my daughter as they enjoy some summer movie fun.   I converted it to b/w so that it can easily fit into the spread without clashing with the colors in the papers.  Next, I cut one of the papers from the Pink Paislee’s Summer Lights collection to about a 1/2in taller than the picture.  I cut the paper so that it could easily fit into the 2 pages of the spread, and then added my picture at the end of the paper.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-4

To balance the page, I cut some of the leftover pieces from the papers in the MALIBU kit (i am down to scraps of papers after all this projects!), and created banners. They all were attached to the top of the page, above the picture, in a cluster with a little piece of washi tape from my stash.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-2

The typed journal lines balanced the spread, and a few embellishments made from the  papers, stickers, and exclusive printables from this month’s Malibu kit complete this page.  So simple and quick to put together.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-5

Next,  i used this striped paper from the Summer Lights collection (featured in this month’s Malibu TN kit) as it reminded me of a beach towel.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-7

This time, I used the entire 6×6 paper sheet to cover the center of the 2 page TN spread. I cut the paper so that it fit on both pages, and glued a picture of the 2 girls to the top corner of the paper.  I added a small piece of another paper to mat the picture, and make sure it pops from the busy background. a few fussy cut images from the CK Exclusive printables, and the papers  along with the swim suit chipboard sticker is all that was needed to  frame the picture.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-8

I used my editing software to enlarge some of this month’s exclusive printables.   In this particular page, I chose to add my sentiment inside the hexagon.  I am loving the alphas from last month’s POOL PARTY kit.  The color matched this month’s kit also.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-6

Here is the final layout.   I love how easy it came together, and all the color in the page -even in the journal lines… the neon pens included in the kit will steal your heart, too!  I hope you all are ready to use the MALIBU KITS to document your summer adventures.  There are a few available at the Clique Store, so make sure you can get your hands on one of them… You will love it!

Remember to leave me a comment if you have questions on how this came together, or just to say hi!

Take care!

Summer Gift | Stephanie Gold

IMG_4706-imp

Heyyyyy again all!! Stephanie Gold here, back with another project using the incredible August Travelers Notebook Kit >>> get it HERE!!

IMG_4708-imp

I wanted to show you all another super fun way you can use this kit so I put together a little gift card holder with coordinating tag.

IMG_4710-imp

This mini envelope was made using a piece of the 6×6 pattern paper from the kit and a We Are Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board (this thing has changed my lifeeee). I accented the front of the envelope with a couple cut outs, one of the see through stickers and the clear paper clip.

IMG_4709-imp

For the tag I layered two different papers cut in different tag shapes and stacked them with the ephemera. That flamingo was meant to wear sunglasses don’t you think??! A small bow of black and white twine tops it off.

IMG_4714-imp

And finally to pull my whole project together I wrapped the finished envelope with many loops of twine and attached the tag. Cute right?! (I’m obsessed.)

Thanks again for stopping by!! Much love and happy crafting!!

Field Notes | My Travel Journal

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today to share with you a few of the entries of my journals created with this month’s MALIBU TN kit.   The colors of the papers from the Pink Paislee’s Summer Light collection are dreamy, and perfect to document all those vacation, and every day moments.

Malibu TN kit

As you all know, our family took a long vacation to Ecuador, which means there are plenty of memories to document.  Though i brought some supplies with me,  and actually managed to document a large number of our adventures, there were those days, that only got sketched in hopes to finish the page once i  got to all my supplies.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL

This is how one of the planned pages of my travel journal looked like  down in Ecuador.   As you can see I penciled all the story on the right of the page, and actually used the Imaginisce stamp (available at the Clique Store for $1!) to add some hot air balloons to the other page of the tn -most of this pictures were taken on the Gondola ride and up on the mountain at 4100m above sea level, so the air balloons fit the mood-.  Since there were so many pictures taken, i wanted to create a collage for this post, which meant that it will have to be finished on my return home.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-5

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-3

Upon receiving the MALIBU TN kit, i fell in love with one of the papers -since it had this soft blue stripes on it-, as it reminded me of the sky’s color.  First i stamped the image at few times on white paper, cut them, and set them apart for a bit.  Then using some watercolor, I created a blue background on top of the stamped images, and glued the newly created images on top  (this cover all the smudge color inside the air balloons).  Next I pulled some of the cloud chipboard stickers from the MALIBU main kit and attached them here and there.  The title was then created using the Pebbles alphas from the POOL PARTY kit.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-6

My idea to create the collage changed as the  paper was added to the other side of the TN. Instead, i opted to use LR to create picture strips which were glued to a piece of vellum cut to fit inside the TN.   I folded about 1/4 in on the long side of the vellum so that it could be glued to the tn.  A few CK exclusive printables were then added to the strips to bring some interest to the pictures.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-7

Since the papers in the MALIBU TN kit are 6x6in, and my TN’s length is of about 8.25in, i had to be crafty to complete the page – i cut some small strips, and added them in the middle of the page.  To hide the seam, the journal of this outing was then wrote on plain copy paper with one of the Prima Neon pens, included in this month’s TN kit,  and then trimmed, and attached to the center of the page.  I really like how easy it was to incorporate the MALIBU kit into my Travel Journal, but it was a pleasant surprise to see how versatile the kit is when documenting every day moments.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-8

I love how versatile all CK kits are, but i want to show you how easy it was to document the aftermath of  my vacation on my Personal Journal.  Since the house was a mess from unpacking all the bags, I opted to convert the picture to black and white.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-11

Next I matted the picture with a piece of one of the papers from the MALIBU TN kit, and glued it to the TN insert included in the kit.  I fussy cut some of the words, and images from the Pink Paislee papers, as well as the CK exclusives to create the cluster on this page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-10

Though unpacking is never pleasant, i chose to add cheeriness to this memory by combining the tissue paper (that the kits come wrapped with) with this month’s printables, and alphas included in the kit.   The color combo matches that of the picture, and brings the spread all together.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL-9

AS you can see this month’s MALIBU TN kit is not only gorgeous but versatile, too.   It can easily be used to scrap all those special summer/vacation memories, as well as those simple every day moments.  Remember there is still a few TN subscriptions available, so take some time to visit the Clique Kits website to check all the kits and exclusives.

I am a comment away if you have any questions on how these came together.
See you all soon!

Field Notes | My Travel Journal

CK- Field Notes -traveler notes - header

Hello Clique Kits Friends!!

Nathalie back with you today!   We are still unpacking our bags after a month long vacation in Ecuador.  The 5 week break from scrapbooking was hard for me (as i do it on a regular -almost  daily- basis),  but space was limited on the bags.  So instead i opted to bring with me my personal journal (aka TN), lots of stamps, watercolor palettes, stickers, and a pieces of the many different past Clique Kits.  Today i want to share with you some of the entries created while on vacation.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1

Every time there are small pieces of paper left  from any particular kit, i tend to trim them to fit into my TN, and store them back in the kit’s bag so i can always use it with the coordinated embellishments.   This is the case for one of the entries of my journal.  I had prepped the pages, before hand, by gluing the last piece of the “Pint Size Fun” paper from Shimelle’s Little by Little collection  featured in the PLAY kit to one of the TN’s pages.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1-3

I took all the alphas, and embellishments from the PLAY kit with me, so it was easy to add the details to the page while on the air.  To create the title, I simply aligned the alphas to the bottom of the page, and added a few die cuts to balance the spread.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1-2

One of the best things I packed for the trip was the HP Sprocket (best travelling photo printer!!!), so i was able to obtain prints on the spot, and use them on my TN.   For this picture, I layered the exclusive printables from the PLAY kit behind the picture, and added embellishments in a small cluster.  The Altenew stamp (which i picked up at the Clique Kits Store) came in handy to add the small detail on the picture.  The sentiment was typed with my grandfather’s type writer -which he has happily handed down to me, and is now living on my desk!!!!-  Here is final layout:

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1-4

Love the final look of this page!  It is clean and simple, and was an ease to put together (though the sentiment came together upon arrival in Ecuador).

This next entry was created with the Clique Kits Spring Card kit (which I picked up on one of the Store sales), and a large photo .

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 2-4

After enlarging the picture to fit into a letter size page, I trimmed it and glued it to the TN spread (Yes, I packed photo paper with me, and used my cousin’s printer!).  I picked a photo with lots of white space on it, so i can easily embellish onto the picture.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 2-3

All the MME embellishments included in the Spring Card kit happen to match the colors of some of the exclusive printables in the POOL PARTY  TN kit (which i purchase to take with me on the trip!) so it was easy to combine them to create clusters at the corners of the picture.  This spread was all about the picture, so a little embellishing went a long way.  Here is the final spread:

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 2-2

What can I say!.  Love how easy this came together with a few pieces from some past Clique Kits.  Sometimes it pays to rework your paper scraps into new projects, as well as to mix pieces from different kits to come with a new one that fits your needs.   If you would like to check these kits remember some of them are still available at the Clique Kits Store (take advantage of the July sale happening at the moment!!).  All the kits are beautiful and oh so versatile!.

I will be back to show you more of the entries of my travel journals,  but remember you can always contact me with any questions you might have on how this came together.

See you all soon!
