Subscribers are eligible to earn free product credits for participating in the Pep Rally via Instagram. Participation is a very relaxed commitment on a month by month basis. Simply email marketing@cliquekits.com by the 15th of the month to have your credits recorded. Subscribers may earn 5 credits (1 credit=$1) for each month they participate. Step 1: Take pictures of projects you created using the monthly kit (please use a minimum of 80% kit and add on products so that the inspiration provided for the Clique is kit-focused.) You can do this anytime during the month- but be sure your photos post before 10 am CST on Pep Rally Day.

Step 2: On or before Pep Rally day, join the event on Facebook and Instagram by sharing on Facebook with your friends and tagging them on Instagram letting them know that each name tagged is entered to win a gift certificate to spend in the CK shop!

Wander

Hi everyone. I’ve been waiting since May to scrapbook these adorable alpacas. The Sundance kit was perfect for these photos. I love the patterns in this collection and decided to use a variety of patterns for the background of my layout. I love patterned paper…

One of my favorite types of die cuts is frames. I love creating a collage of photos to print them on a smaller scale to use on my layout. This tip works perfectly for printing small photos just small enough to fit within the frames.

I layered the frames side by side then used a few die cuts, acrylic and stickers to decorate the frames.

Since I ran out of space to actually hand-journal on this layout, I used the sticker words to help share my story!

Thanks for visiting today!

Yearbook: Adventure

Hi ladies. I am back today with another fun layout I created using the September Sundance kit. The patterns and die cuts in this month’s kit is so pretty. I love them. I’ve had these photos for a few months now, but didn’t have the right papers and embellishments to go with them. I pulled the blue and cream colors from the photos to create a well balanced layout.

I wasn’t sure at first if the washi would go with this layout, but I managed making it work by adding the tiny red plaid star sticker to help pull the red into the layout. I used a pen and ruler to create faux stitching on the heart sticker.

I layered several die cuts together at the bottom of the photo to help pull the photos together. And to balance it out, I added a few more at the top right photo in the corner. Then I added my hand-journaling to complete the layout.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Geek Lab: Adventure Card

Hi friends,

Melissa here with you today and it’s a bittersweet post! This is my last one… not just for this current kit but also for my term as a design team member. I have absolutely loved my time here with Clique Kits but, I had to make the decision. I love designing and teaching and empowering other creative types but, it’s time to take a break from DT’s and focus on me and what I want to do. I’m looking forward to no deadlines and such. But, I will say, this team will be one I will miss. I hope you know that Clique Kits has a GREAT things here. Beautiful kits (will always be my favorite), amazing inspiration (I’m excited to see what the next team does) and a fun community (have you joined us on Facebook yet?)

For my last card with you all, I wanted to, once again, show you a card using the gorgeous cut files that are exclusive to the CK kits. I loved the fall leaves square but, was more drawn to the individual leaves. In my head, I pictured utilizing the circle stickers and then embellishing with the leaves. It turned out better than I even thought. I hope you like it too. Here is the finished card a few close ups:

melissae_cksept17_adventure1

I also used the little asterisk shaped cut files that were part of that square. I actually like the texture they bring with the tone on tone of the white cardstock. I was equally excited when I realized you can see them in the photo too!

melissae_cksept17_adventure2

How cute do those leaves look??? They really add the perfect amount of texture and help the card have a bit of interest. Those stickers are fabulous but, when in a pinch for that “one more thing”, cut files are the best!

I decided to hand write the first part of the sentiment on to one of the stickers. I just could not find the right alpha in my stash or anywhere else so, handwriting it is. Thankfully, I do like my handwriting!

melissae_cksept17_adventure3

Thanks for joining me here today!

The past year has definitely been an adventure I have enjoyed and I’m also looking forward to moving on! See you around!

Go Outside & Play

CK - Art Studio header

Hello friends! I have a fun mixed media layout to share with you today using some watercolor paints from Shimmerz Paints and stamps from Altenew. And of course, all of the other gorgeous papers and embellishments used are from the September Sundance kit. LOVE this kit. It’s so pretty and it’s perfect for scrapbooking those special outdoors events.

I used a some watercolor paints in the colors of beige, blue and green to draw different paint stroke lines down the page and across the page to create a fun background for my layout. While I was trying to figure out how to incorporate the tiny circle stickers on my layout, I found a button in my stash that was the perfect size for the sticker!

DSC_9000

I cut some flowers from the patterned paper to use as a die cut on my layout. I needed some flowers and that blue flower in the patterned is gorgeous!

DSC_9002

I splashed some gold paint onto the layout too. I love how much a touch of gold makes this layout pop. Such a fun, happy layout.

DSC_8997

The tiny word stickers fit within the sticker banners perfectly! I always like using sticker banners with some kind of sentiment so I made these stickers work for me!

Thanks so much for visiting today! I hope I’ve inspired you to try using watercolors and stamps on your layout. Don’t forget, the Clique Kits shop has a variety of mixed media products available. Click here to see what’s available.

Study Hall: Simple Card

Hi friends,

Melissa here with you again and I’m sharing my third, out of four, project using the gorgeous September Sundance kit! I hope you are enjoying this kit as much as I did and are creating lots and lots! How can you not with such beautiful product and amazing inspiration from our team? Yay!

Today I’m sharing a relatively easy card to make. I just had fun with this one. No fancy design notes. No frills or extras. I just took it back to basics with this card and had fun. I went to a design that I’ve used many times on my cards… because I love it… and because it’s such a versatile one to boot. Essentially, I create half of the card with patterned paper, a diagonal slope, and minimal embellishing.

Here it is with a few close-ups:

melissae_cksept17_daughter1

Those florals are so easy to use! I also threw in some of the washi tape from the 1 Canoe 2 collection. While these papers are from the Fancy Pants collection, I wanted to show well all of these collections and kit items go together. Love it!

melissae_cksept17_daughter2

I did use a few things from my stash. The gold enamel dots are from my stash and I used two stamps that were from past kits or sponsors. You can also find them in the store… I used a set from Latina Crafter and Honey Bee Stamps. They are no longer in the shop but, you can go check out the individual manufacturers to see all the wonderful product they have!

melissae_cksept17_daughter3

How fun is that acrylic heart? They are included in the kit and so perfect for that finishing touch!

Thanks for joining me today! Until next time…

Locker Room: Enjoy the Journey Card

Hi friends,

Melissa here with you again and I’m sharing the second, of four, projects I have made using the stunning September Sundance kit.

I love Locker Room posts! The title always reminds me of half time at a football game (totally appropriate right now since it’s football season GO HAWKS!) and the coach is getting every one fired up again… whether it’s because the team needs a kick in the toosh or maybe they are rocking it out and don’t want to lose steam. So… this type of post always has me wanting to give you a pep talk! Maybe you have no mojo… maybe you are going strong… whatever it is, I hope that I can just provide with a couple more tools for your creative toolbox and how to make the most of your kit!

Here we go!

20170812_192448

I know, I know. This looks like the makings of an Art Studio post but, it’s not. This piece of cardstock was a booboo. I messed up with my ink for another project. Almost threw it out but, noticed the colors went perfect with the papers in this kit. So, I added a few more splatters and decided to use it as my cardstock base. See? Even our “mess ups” end up useful! Don’t throw them out just yet!

20170812_220537

Alright, so this next part has a lot to share. One of the ways I love taking on a new perspective and/or stretching my product is to look at what I can fussy cut. The flowers and leaves were so perfect to do this with! It definitely helps to utilize every single part of the kit. I also wanted to incorporate one of the cut files. I love how cut files can add more to the projects and, the best part? You never run out! I’m also going to be using some of the stickers on this card and those fun alpha stickers.

20170812_220858

I want to point out something with this card, so far. When I use mists and inks on my cardbase, I notice that I use less product. Why? Because the inks provide a couple of things… texture and color. That way, I can bring in a little pop of something with the pattern papers and embellishments but, not too much. The result is my product/kit lasts longer! And I can make more! Which is exciting when I love the collection and papers and all that! Yay!

Here is the final card with the finished sentiment and embellishments…

February Designer in the Spotlight – Beth Snyder

Hello Everyone!  Erica here today to bring you our February Designer in the Spotlight!  This month our kit featured the beautiful Hazelwood collection by 1 Canoe 2 and we could not wait to meet the designer behind the collection!
headshotfullsizeoutput_3929

Beth Synder is the owner and one of the many faces behind 1 Canoe 2!  She has taken some time out of her day to answer a little Q&A for us today!  So grab your choice of drink, sit back relax and say hello to Beth!

1. Tell us a little bit about your creative process and what inspires you?We are makers at our core. We love to play with paper and glue and bits of fancy things. We are based in a small town in the Midwest, where the skies are big and the flowers are wild. Inspiration is all around us in nature and life, but our customers are the biggest inspiration. Making things for all of our followers is what keeps us excited!

2. Where and when are you most creative?
Personally, I’m a morning person. If I could get up at 4am and work till noon, that would be ideal. The other two artists on our team are night owls and often work at the office in the morning, take a break in the afternoon, then paint till the wee hours of the morning. There’s something about the quiet hours when the world (and social media) is asleep that draw out the best work. It’s probably the limited number of distractions.

3. What are some of your must have supplies?
Gouache paint, a couple of really good brushes, and an Xacto knife! And washi tape.

4. Have you always had a love for design and can you share where we can find
more of your work?
We are new to scrapbooking, but we’ve had a bustling stationery company for 7 years! You can find planners, notebooks, greeting cards, and lots of other fun stuff on our website (www.1canoe2.com), or in a shop near you!

5. 3 things people probably do not know about you.
  1.  I won an Emmy for television graphic design in my former job.
  2. I’ve broken my arm 4 times.
  3. All I really want in the world is for all the great people I know to know each other and be best friends.

6. Favorite:
● Book: Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder, or The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert
● Movie: Steel Magnolias and Bridget Jones’ Diary (the first one)
● Candy Peppermint patties
● Drink Gin and Tonic, or Diet Coke
● Music Fleetwood Mac
● Color GREEN
● TV Show The West Wing
● Smells I have a terrible sense of smell! But probably lilacs.

7. We love the name 1 Canoe 2! Can you tell us how the name came about and
how 1 Canoe 2 was started?
1canoe2 is all about the spirit of friendship and team work. We like to think of one canoe, two girls. We started out on Etsy and have gone on to sell to over 1000 stores worldwide, including Anthropologie and Paper Source. I ran the business out of the basement at my house for 4 years before finally moving first to a little red barn, and now to a renovated bank building in our little town.

8. A piece of advice you would give to your younger self.
You be you. And never apologize for it.

9. The Hazelwood collection is one of our favorites and the response from our
subscribers has been incredible! Any plans for another scrapbooking collection?
We are just wrapping up the artwork for a new collection with American Crafts that will release in July! It’s called Creekside, and is all kinds of outdoors, starry skies, and family travel oriented. There are some SERIOUSLY CUTE accessories coming with it too. I can’t spill the beans yet, but let’s just say that you’ll squeal when you see the collection.

Beth thank you so much for being our February Designer in the Spotlight!  I know our readers are just as excited as I am to see the new collection!  To check out more from 1 Canoe 2 head on over to their website and blog and follow them on Facebook!
