Field Notes | My Travel Journal

CK- Field Notes -traveler notes - header

Hello Clique Kits Friends!!

Nathalie back with you today!   We are still unpacking our bags after a month long vacation in Ecuador.  The 5 week break from scrapbooking was hard for me (as i do it on a regular -almost  daily- basis),  but space was limited on the bags.  So instead i opted to bring with me my personal journal (aka TN), lots of stamps, watercolor palettes, stickers, and a pieces of the many different past Clique Kits.  Today i want to share with you some of the entries created while on vacation.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1

Every time there are small pieces of paper left  from any particular kit, i tend to trim them to fit into my TN, and store them back in the kit’s bag so i can always use it with the coordinated embellishments.   This is the case for one of the entries of my journal.  I had prepped the pages, before hand, by gluing the last piece of the “Pint Size Fun” paper from Shimelle’s Little by Little collection  featured in the PLAY kit to one of the TN’s pages.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1-3

I took all the alphas, and embellishments from the PLAY kit with me, so it was easy to add the details to the page while on the air.  To create the title, I simply aligned the alphas to the bottom of the page, and added a few die cuts to balance the spread.

One of the best things I packed for the trip was the HP Sprocket (best travelling photo printer!!!), so i was able to obtain prints on the spot, and use them on my TN.   For this picture, I layered the exclusive printables from the PLAY kit behind the picture, and added embellishments in a small cluster.  The Altenew stamp (which i picked up at the Clique Kits Store) came in handy to add the small detail on the picture.  The sentiment was typed with my grandfather’s type writer -which he has happily handed down to me, and is now living on my desk!!!!-  Here is final layout:

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 1-4

Love the final look of this page!  It is clean and simple, and was an ease to put together (though the sentiment came together upon arrival in Ecuador).

This next entry was created with the Clique Kits Spring Card kit (which I picked up on one of the Store sales), and a large photo .

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 2-4

After enlarging the picture to fit into a letter size page, I trimmed it and glued it to the TN spread (Yes, I packed photo paper with me, and used my cousin’s printer!).  I picked a photo with lots of white space on it, so i can easily embellish onto the picture.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_MY PERSONAL JOURNAL 2-3

All the MME embellishments included in the Spring Card kit happen to match the colors of some of the exclusive printables in the POOL PARTY  TN kit (which i purchase to take with me on the trip!) so it was easy to combine them to create clusters at the corners of the picture.  This spread was all about the picture, so a little embellishing went a long way.  Here is the final spread:

What can I say!.  Love how easy this came together with a few pieces from some past Clique Kits.  Sometimes it pays to rework your paper scraps into new projects, as well as to mix pieces from different kits to come with a new one that fits your needs.   If you would like to check these kits remember some of them are still available at the Clique Kits Store (take advantage of the July sale happening at the moment!!).  All the kits are beautiful and oh so versatile!.

I will be back to show you more of the entries of my travel journals,  but remember you can always contact me with any questions you might have on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Guest Designer Rachel Lowe – Love Summer Layout:

I am so thrilled to be here as a guest designer for Clique Kits all the way from Australia!

When the Malibu kit arrived it was a swoon moment, how beautiful is it!

KIT2

I have created a 12 x 12 layout today.

IMG_5889.JPG

I love white on white and so I started with using this wonderful Clique cut file Love, which is the Valentine 2016 cut file.

I knew I wanted the theme of my layout to be Love Summer.

I then chose another Clique cut file which was the August 2016 cut file as it reminded me of a Hibiscus flower.  When I cut this I kept the centres of the leaves and then cut the petals from the patterned paper.

I wanted my Hibiscus cut file to have height so I foam taped the petals and leaves.

Now for the fun part, embellishing! I created a polaroid shaped mat for my photo and added some random machine sewing on it to add texture.

I hand cut the mermaid from the journal card paper and scattered the sequin mix around her.

I created a cluster embellishment to the left of my photo, layering for visual interest.

I added a sticker heart to the top of my page adding a word sticker Summer. Often my title is not prominent on my page but more of a subtle theme that is evident through out my layout.

Here are some close up photos for you:

I love simplicity and pretty, that being my aim of this layout. I hope you agree!

Thank you for joining me today and I will see you again soon.

Study Hall | VACATION

Hi there!

Nathalie here with you today.  I hope you all are doing well!

Here in Canada we are enjoying our Summer season, and that means travelling.  This year we headed back to my native Ecuador for a month long vacation, and brought back over 5000 pictures to live by until our next trip.  I was lucky to come back to find the gorgeous Malibu Traveler’s Notebook kit at my door step!  Right away,  the colors of the papers in the kit, and all the add ons were an open canvas to start documenting some of our vacation adventures.

Malibu TN kit

This month’s TN kit is loaded with many so many goodies that can easily also be reworked into a scrapbook layout.   Here is small video showcasing how the layout came together:

As you can see, the kits are versatile!.  In this case I used the Malibu TN kit to create this colorful, and vibrant page about our vacation resort.  It all started with the cut file (which i had previously designed), which you can easily download below -just click on the picture-.

Vacation -cut file

All the letter spaces were backed with the different 6×6 papers included in the Malibu TN kit, except the letter “o” which was backed with the subject’s picture.  After all the letters were secured, then i used some foam tape to add a bit of dimension to the page.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_VACATION

To add more color to the layout, I used some Prima’s The tropicals watercolor palette  to create a mixed media background.  The colors used match those of the papers in the Malibu kit.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_VACATION-2

To bring the eye to the picture of the layout, a few clusters were created around the “o”.   The clear stickers from the Pink Paislee’s Summer Lights can easily be backed with white cardstock, so that they stand out on the colorful papers.

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_VACATION-6

To complete the visual triangle on this page, i used a combination of all the Malibu kit’s embellishments.   The exclusive printables (the escape sign) along with the fussy cut heart,  die cut pieces and the holographic star bring the page together.    Here is a look at the completed layout:

CK_NATHALIE DESOUSA_AUGUST 2017_VACATION-7

I am loving the final look of this page (even after a 6 week scrapbook free vacation)!  All the colors in the background complement those of the Malibu TN kit, and bring the picture to life.   Not to mention that those Neon pens included in the kit are so smooth, and they even work on top of mixed media!!!   If you haven’t checked the kit yet, then visit the Clique Kits Store to  see all that is included; there are still a few TN subscriptions available!!

Remember I am always a comment away if you have questions about how this page came together.  In addition, I would love to see what you create with the cut file, so don’t forget to tag me if you use it in one of your projects.

Til next time!

Geek Lab- The Ocean is Calling

Hi everyone!  I have totally ripped through this entire August Kit, Malibu, featuring Pink Paislee Summer Lights collection.  I love the water color look and the gradations from yellow to blue to purple and pink.

For Geek Lab today, I thought I would use some of my trusty tools: my Silhouette Cameo, my sewing machine and a circle punch.

I began by cutting this cut file from the store from a CK Clique Into Color Kit from a year or so ago.  The images are large paint strokes, and I wanted to create a “sand” layer, a “water” layer, and a “sky” layer up my page.  Once I had my layers down, I stitched over most of them with coordinating threads to add some texture and interest.

Once I had the layers on, I punch some circles from coordinating papers and overlapped them on two colors.  I wanted a place to ground my embellishment and the circles did just that.

Finally, I embellished each circle area with chipboard and stickers.

You can watch the whole process here:

What are your favorite tools to use on a page?

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

-Audrey

Share Your Space – Réka

Hello! It’s Réka, and I’m so excited to share a little tour of my craft space with you today. Beginning of this year I made a little investment and purchased a new desk and a shelf from IKEA. It was a really good choice and I fell in love with them.

IMG_9417

Let’s see my desk. It is in our bedroom, opposite to the bed and the reason is why it is here, because that is the place of TV where it sits but when we finish the renewal in the other bedroom, it will be go to there with the bed and I can start to decorate the wall and the whole room finally. I can`t wait it, so exciting to create a new world in the house, which is only my own.

So far only one thing has gone to the wall yet which is my dream catcher and below there is my Silhouette Cameo on the desk. I was waiting a lot for my Cameo and when I look at the dream catcher and its message  „Follow your dream” it always inspiration for me that I am able to reach everything what I want, sometimes it takes so long but it is worth to wait. Believe me.

IMG_9461

When I choose my desk I knew these thing must be put on it, so I decided to buy the bigger one and beside I still have a lot of space to create. However sometimes I start to work on the desk and at the end just finish it on the floor.

I love the drawers of the desk. They are so big and able to hide a lot of thing. I often use boxes or baskets to organize the items by category, for example one for enamels or one for flowers. This is a proven method to keep tidy easy.

FullSizeRender (21)

IMG_9482

Between the drawers there is my printer which is one of my favorite tool I often use.

IMG_9478

The other one of my favorite thing is the shelve for my craft stuff.

IMG_9443

I just decorate it as I want, how mood I am. It is a little gallery. It also contains a lot of boxes and baskets, my cute things and layouts, some old creative books.

IMG_9445

I also love the lights and it was the first thing which went to the shelf.

My mother always says If everything has an own place after that I can keep tidy everywhere. I always remember her words.

This is it… “my studio”. I hope you enjoy this post! Thanks for dropping by and have a nice day! Réka

Soak Up The Sun | Yearbook

Hellooooo! Steph here again with another Travelers Notebook project for you!! Have you signed up for this kit yet?? Because it’s amazing!! CLICK HERE for more info on it. 😉

IMG_4661

For this layout I balanced both pages with strips of pattern paper at the top and bottom. Keeping the colors light and airy, I chose a color scheme that worked well with my black and white photo and was available within my kit. I think this blue distressed woodgrain pattern paper may be my favorite. 🙂

IMG_4663

I used the left side of my layout for journaling and kept it simple so it didn’t get too busy. Then my photograph and title went on the right page.

IMG_4664

I loved this giant phrase die cut!! So cute!!

IMG_4665

I hope you are all enjoying your summers!! Have you created with the Travelers Notebook kit yet? How do you like it??

Locker Room-Sunset

Hi everyone!  Aren’t you in LOVE with the August Kit, Malibu?  I love the soft, watercolor look along with some of the brighter neon colors!

I have a whole bunch of sunset photos that I sometimes have a hard time scrapping because the colors are so vibrant (and there are a lot of colors), but I don’t want to take away from the photo by adding too many other distracting elements and patterns on my page.  But this collection was PERFECT because the colors are soft and the patterns are not too bold.

I cut from sun shapes with my Silhouette Cameo from the Just Nick store and colored each sun in with watercolors to try and match the shades in the paper.  I backed each sun with some patterned paper in a similar color.

I added a few layers behind my photo, and a cluster of die cuts and chipboard pieces from the kit in the bottom left corner.

The title is fussy cut from one of the patterned papers, and I wanted to add a little iridescent bit to it, so I added in the sunglasses.

To create a visual triangle, I added some iridescent clouds and stars to the top right of the page, too. And for a finishing touch, a few exclusive sequins scattered around, too!

What photos will you use with this sot, colorful kit??

Geek Lab: Good Times

Hello, it’s Nicole with another fun summer layout I created using this month’s Clique Kit. Ah, the colors are so pretty! I can’t get enough of this kit. I really like the ice cream motifs in this month’s kit so naturally, I had to use them. Luckily enough, I had a photo to go with my theme too. Love when that happens.

I decided to mix a few patterns together for the background. Then I used several chipboard, stickers and die cuts to embellish my layout. This layout came together pretty quickly!

I tucked a few stickers behind the filmstrip die cut to make it pop! And there goes the smiley face again. I can’t get enough of these.

I added a piece of string to the “Good times tag” then adhered it below the photo. Then I added a few more die cuts and stickers behind the photo.

A few more close-ups:

Thank you for visiting today!

Geek Lab: Beach Boy

Hello friends! I hope you had a great week. I must say, I am loving the colors in this month’s kit. And since I live 4 blocks from the beach, I have a  good amount of beach photos to choose from. I am a big fan of taking candid shots and scrapping them. It’s a good thing because my son does not like it when I take his photos. Sigh

I am sharing a layout where I played with  a variety of patterned paper to create a fun background for my layout. I selected a few patterns that I felt, matched the photo perfectly. Once I had the background designed, I added the photo and started adding embellishments.

I decided to add the vacation vibes frame on to the photo to use as a place to add my journaling! I used a slick writer so my ink would not smear. Then I added a few die cuts! LOVE the wave die cut.

I used the chipboard alphas from the July Kit paired with the silver metallic alphas from this month’s kit to create a fun title. Oh, and I had to add the smilies! So cute.

A few more close-ups:

Thank you for visiting today!

Clique Agenda: Let’s make plans

Hi everybody. I am sharing a planner page spread I created. Since I already decorated my summer months pages in my planner, I decided to use this month’s kit to decorate my October pages and added a few plans while I was at it. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off… but it totally works.

The adhesive patterned sheet in this month’s kit fit perfectly in the MAMBI planner squares. I simply cut a few out using scissors and added them straight on to the page.

I love the gorgeous mermaid so I had to include her on the spread.

I left plenty of room in the left margin so I can include notes etc.

What do you think? Are you a planner girl? I’d love to see your planner pages using this month’s kit! Post them to your Instagram or another social media account and tag us! If you’re looking for other embellishments to add to your planners, check out our shop!

Have a wonderful day,

-Nicole
