student of the month

Erica here to bring you one January’s Guest Designers and I must confess that I am a huge YouTube fan and I just knew we had to ask Nadine from Nadine’s Mixed Plate to be a guest!  What I love about Nadine’s videos is that she is so honest!  I love that she does get in front of the camera so we do see more than just hands!  She tells it how it is and is the sweetest person ever!  Her channel is a good mix of goodness and you have to take a moment to check it out!  Nadine is a planner junkie and she documents her life with pocket page scrapbooking and I love how she creates her own journal cards!  Nadine we are so thrilled that your very first guest designer post is with Clique Kits!  Everyone sit back, grab your drink of choice and we hope you enjoy today’s post with the fabulous Nadine!

Hey guys my name’s Nadine!  I am the face you see on my YouTube channel, Nadine’s Mixed Plate, & the author of the severely neglected blog “My Mixed Plate”. For the past 2 months I have been on the hunt for a new scrapbooking & Project life kit. I have watched many a video on various kits available & yet indecision kept me from picking one to try!  The scrapbooking Gods must have took pity on me & at the end of December I was gifted Clique Kits January kit Tailor Made. If you love unboxing & review videos I highly suggest you take a peek at my video showing my reaction to the items in this kit.  First let me say I was honestly floored by the amount of items included!  The minute I opened it, my mind started racing at the endless possibilities of things that can be done with all the papers & embellishments included.  I was also given the January add-ons and let me tell you, the Waffle flower stamp set had this planner addict grinning from ear to ear like a fool.  I didn’t have time in my video to show all the things I wanted to do with the kit but let me do so here!

I enjoy many things. The first happens to be Project Life. It is, to me, the quickest form of memory keeping.  Print pictures, stuff them in pockets and embellish as you see fit!  The beauty of Clique kits is the color scheme is already put together for you. As serendipity would have it, the pictures I took in the first week of January fit  nicely with the Amy Tangerine Stitched papers provided.  In my 4×6 pocket, I layered two designs to use as backing cards, stamped out a January calendar using the Waffle Flower set on Vellum & embellished.

In order to keep the color scheme fluid throughout my layout, I cut down a 12×12 sheet to make 3×4 journaling cards.  Once the cards were positioned, I realized I loved the paper print way too much to cover it so I decided to journal on vellum & adhere them together. Vellum is a good friend of mine. I often times journal on vellum using MS Word & my trusty printer.   Quick tip:  Vellum adhesive is great for adhering it to anything but also to adhere the acetate words in this kit.

Secondly, I have an extreme weakness for paper-planners.  As February & the Love theme approaches, two of the designer papers screamed “Put me in your planner!!” so that’s what I did!  I cut down each paper to 6.5” x 8.25” the exact size to fit in my A5 planner. Then punched a tab using the We Are Memory Keeper Envelope Punch Board! I stitched the word LOVE using Amy Tangerines template since this divider will mark my wish list area.  Tadaaaaa easy peasy!

Here’s my confession, & it might sound like a total oxymoron, but I am a craft hoarder yet I’m weirdly frugal when it comes to paper. I took the scraps left over from the dividers & made a few Valentines cards. Here’s a mini one that’ll be attached to a treat bag.  Since foil is all the rage lately I punched out a heart on Silhouette double sided adhesive paper then used Martha Stewart Silver Foil to get a shiny little jazzed up heart.  I have to admit I was so very proud of myself for being ahead of the game & alleviating my usual last minute rush to Target to get Valentines day cards.

I have so much more to do with the rest of the kit. I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface.  I thoroughly enjoyed the January Clique Kit & loved documenting my adventures here! Thanks so much for having me!
