Hanukah Decor

blog-image_art-studio

Hi, everyone! It’s Aliza here. This is my first blog post since the summer, so it’s nice to be back here.

Here’s a little tidbit about Jewish holidays: They follow the lunar calendar, so they fall on different dates of the Gregorian calendar each year. Which just means that every once in a while, you are sitting around thinking, “Oh, it’s only November, nothing big is happening too soon.” And then you look at your calendar and realize, “Oh, Hanukkah is just three weeks away!”

When I had that realization recently, I was working my way through my November Clique Kit, and I was struck by the thought that all the beautiful blues in this kit would make for some lovely Hanukkah decor.

My first step was to paint an old mirror frame that I had lying around. (The reason this mirror has been lying around, by the way, is that my children managed to break all the glass squares. )

ckartstudio1.jpg

Because of the yellow tone of the paint, I brushed some blue mist on the frame. It looked terrible. So I painted another coat of white over the blue, and dabbed some of the paint away.

As you can see above, I used a dreidel cut file with the We R Memory Keepers patterned papers to create the artwork for the frame.

I decided to go really simple, in the end, with just a touch of embellishment. Because, really these papers are just so beautiful.

I think I still have just enough of my kit left to make another Hanukkah decor project or two. (Perhaps a miracle will happen, and I will have enough paper for eight days of projects!)

Geek Lab – Printing Journaling in Vellum

geeklab

Hello! Caroli here and today I want to talk about journaling.  For me, journaling is as important as pictures in a layout or mini album. I always need to include at least a short paragraph telling, what, where and when, that’s part of my memory keeping process.

Although I like my handwriting and most of the time I hand write my own journaling on my layouts and mini albums. Sometimes I feel that the printed look fits better for an specific project. But, what to do if you don’t have a 12″x 12″ printer? In my case, I use my regular printer and a sheet of plain vellum!

I simply use Word to create a text box and  type everything inside it, then I print a test on regular white paper just to confirm that the size of the box and letter is OK for the space I have in mind inside my project. Once I confirm the size is OK, I print the definitive journaling in vellum. It’s as simple as that!

Today I want to share this layout I made using this simple trick, I printed the journaling on vellum and I think it looks great, it adds to the clean look.

cliquekits_tapestry_geeklab_carolischulz

Loved the flairs created by talented Spanish designer LoraBailora specially for this kit, I used one so as to adhere the printed vellum to may layout.
cliquekits_tapestry_geeklab_carolischulz2

As you know,  my mother tongue is not English but Spanish, and although I usually use English for the titles of my layouts, most of the time my journaling is in Spanish. Some may think that the mix of languages is weird, but it’s oh so natural for me. 🙂 What about you? Does this happen to you too?

cliquekits_tapestry_geeklab_carolischulz4

I loved the butterfly paper included in the November kit, I cut it all! I used few of the butterflies here and folded them by the half so as to add more dimension to my layout. Also, the gold Thickers included on the add-ons were the perfect for the tittle.

Love how printed vellum looks and the whole look of my layout. 🙂 I hope you liked  this idea and give it a try. Thank you for your visit!! Have a lovely day!

Yearbook – Hello

blog-image_yearbook

Hello, It’s Leeann with you today, I hope you all are well and have been busy crafting after checking out the cliques blog each day. How amazing are all the inspiring projects that pop up. I hope you are in love with this months kit, I am! So today I am sharing this page with you. Today’s focus was all about scrapping more than one photo. I scrap heaps of one photo pages. But sometimes I have lots of pics from a special event or outing. This page  makes my heart happy as it features my family and my beautiful friends from Western Australia. We recently moved state and I just don’t get to see my best friends that I’ve known for a long time! So this is us hanging out in Melbourne seeing the sights. We all had so much to talk about and the kids loved seeing there old school buddies too!

CK_yearbook_lpearce_nov10

So because I had lots of photos I wanted to be a little more creative with this one and because I am a circle kind of girl I chose to create a circle grid. Before I added my photos and embellishments  I added a splash of color using my watercolour paints. Waited for them to dry and proceeded to back each circle with pattern papers and other embellishments from the Tapestry kit.

CK_yearbook_lpearce_nov10_detailA

and here are a few detail shots. You will notice I layered lots of the embellishments and sprinkled the mini hearts like confetti. Added some doodling around each circle for extra detail.

So if this is a design you would like to try, it offers the opportunity to scrap lots of photos and some creative journaling spots.

Can’t wait to see your take on this design.

Happy Recording!

Geek Lab – Vellum Envelopes

geeklab

Hello there! Caroli here and I’m so happy to be posting on Clique Kits blog again, this time using beautiful November kit Tapestry.

Today I want to tell you about one of my fave tools ever: my Envelope Punch Board by WRMK. I love envelopes and vellum, so I thought it would be great to make some and use them on a layout.

As you may know, making a envelope is super easy using this punch board, I made mine in seconds and used vellum because I love the transparent look of it and it, also it will look great if I put things inside the envelope.

Here you can see the layout I made using my envelope. I chose a simple grid desing and tried to add some decorative elements to make it more interesting.

cliquekits_tapestry_geeklab_carolischulz

Here there are some closeups of my layout; I used also some vellum for diecutting leaves, which added to the floral look of it. Don’t you just love that blue floral patterned paper? I do!! 🙂

cliquekits_tapestry_geeklab_carolischulz2

I used the gold Thickers from the add-ons as my title, I love how well they combine with all the floral-romantic look of this kit. I used the lyrics of my fave song these days

As you can see, I used the vellum envelope for storing a card with a lovely message and some gold hearts, love the effect.

cliquekits_tapestry_geeklab_carolischulz3

Hope you like the idea and try using more envelopes in your layouts, they are such a great way of storing messages, hidden journaling or little trinkets on your layouts. Have a lovely day!

Locker Room – Clean & Simple Card

blog-image_locker-room

Hello! Caroli here and I’m so happy for posting on Clique Kits blog again 🙂 Today I want to share with you this simple tutorial for making a clean&simple card.

I used to say I wasn’t a card person, actually it was really hard for  me to make a card, but then I realized that cards can be anything you want and clean&simple look is pretty on cards too. Having this in mind, little by little I started trying and now I can say I enjoy making cards once a while. Also, it’s good to keep a little stock just in case of needing some for a friend or family!

For this card I used a white background and this beautiful patterned paper filled with butterflies included on November kit Tapestry.

cliquekits_lockersroom_tutorial_cardmaking_carolischulz1

I cut some butterflies from the paper and also decided to use some of the burlap twine included on the kit, love the color of this twine.

cliquekits_lockersroom_tutorial_cardmaking_carolischulz2

cliquekits_lockersroom_tutorial_cardmaking_carolischulz3

Once the butterflies and burlap are in place, it’s time to add the tittle. I used the gold Thickers included on the kit, love the skinny typos of these Thickers.

cliquekits_lockersroom_tutorial_cardmaking_carolischulz4

And that’s all, my card is finished! As you can see it was super fun and easy to make, as I always say, sometimes less is more. 😉

I hope you like this idea. If you are a card newbie as me, the best is to start with simple designs like this just to define your style and enjoy carmaking. Have a lovely day! 🙂

Locker Room – Embellishment Cluster

blog-image_locker-room

Hello CK fans its Leeann and I’m excited to be here today to share one of my pages with you. Using the November Tapestry Clique kit. I have a massive love for embellishments they make me squeal, it’s like looking at yummy  candy, but you cant eat these ones.   Today’s post is about creating  layered mats  for your photos and journal cards and also embellishment clusters. This is something that I love doing and you will notice I layer/mat my photos alot. So lets take a wee peek at my page and then get started on the process.

CKNOV_lpearce_oct22LROOM

Lets start with grabbing some photos and designing a four square. In this first pic,  you can see that I like to layer paper and create photo mats.  I do the same for ready to go journal cards.

CKoct22_lp_lrooma

This next pic shows you that I like to add detail, with some machine stitching.

CKoct22_lp_lroomb

Once you are happy making all your layered mats for photos and journal cards adhere together.

 CKoct22_lp_lroomc

Next we are creating a punched out mini circle grid for our embellishment cluster. Once you are happy with the  design glue the circles down.

CKoct22_lp_lroomd

And just a quick tip while I am here. Always look at the packaging, products come in such cute packaging these days that you can use them on your creations. Here you will notice I snipped the end of the flair packaging.

CKoct22_lp_lroome

And I layered that piece under one of the photos, creating a tab.

CKoct22_lp_lroomf

As you can see in this detailed shot I filled each of the punch out circles with twine, flair, printables, tabs, tickets, butterflies, cork heart, paper arrow, buttons etc. See, I told you eye candy right there!

CKNOV_lpearce_oct22LROOMdetail1

And in this detailed shot layers under and also on the top.  Be creative in your layers at the top by cutting them into shapes. That way you still can add your journaling.

CKNOV_lpearce_oct22LROOMdetail2

I hope today was fun and has given you a fresh look on creating clusters of embellishment. Next time you have a handful of scrappy candy create a shape and embellish it! Thank you and I look forward in seeing you again!

Student of the Month-Elisabetta Margini

student of the month

Hello! Elisabetta here, also known as “abcdeli” on my blog and on my youtube channel. I’m very happy and honored to be the March Guest Designer for Clique Kits. Since I received the March Kit some days ago I had so much fun playing with it and today I wanna show you two layouts that I made using the “J’adore” kit (one 12×12 and one 8.5×11).

IMG_1423This is the first layout that I made with the kit featuring my sweet dog Wampy! I really like that “love and adore” paper but in my opinion it is too bold used as a background so I decided to cut it diagonally and I love the end result so much!!

IMG_1429IMG_1427I love the black doilies that are included in the Kit.  Such a perfect little touch!

IMG_1425I also adore the “Bella Rouge” alphas! They coordinate beautifully with the paper and the other elements of the kit!

IMG_1426The thing that I like the most about this page are the origami birds! I cut them from the exclusive 3×4 card that was included in the kit and I think that they make adorable embellishments!  From the rest of the card I punched black hearts to mix with sequins on my page!

IMG_1424IMG_1428I also made a process video for this LO, don’t forget to watch it and to subscribe to my channel if you wanna see all the layouts that I am gonna create with this amazing kit!!

IMG_1431The protagonist of this second layout is the beautiful acetate with the neon green dots. I have to say that lime green is not my favorite color (I prefer girly colors, pinks, pastels…) but I really LOVE how this layout turned out so I can say that sometimes it’s good to go out of our comfort zone!

IMG_1435love all the little embellishments that I received in the kit..

IMG_1434..the flairs are just amazing!!

IMG_1433the tiny texts by “Cosmo Cricket” are the perfect addiction to every single page!

IMG_1432There is a process video for this layout up on my channel so be sure to check it out and leave me a comment if you enjoyed it!!

I really hope that you’ll be inspired to create beautiful layouts with the March Kit, I’ll show you more layouts in the month of March here and on my YouTube channel so stay tuned!
