A Tailor Made Project Life

Hello Clique Kits Friends!! Sarah here today with my first post as part of the Varsity Team!! I’m so excited to be here! I have been in love with Clique Kits ever since they came to be, and I just love their kits more and more each month! I wanted to share my first week of Project Life that I made using this awesome January Tailor Made kit! This is my favourite kit so far (but I say that every month! lol!) The new Amy Tangerine line (Stitched) is so fabulous wtih all these super fun triangles and graphic designs I just love it!

I’m bound and determined to complete a whole year of Project Life this year. Last year was an epic fail for PL, but I’ve armed myself with the new Becky Higgins Project Life app and although I will never use it to make digital PL pages (I just love cutting and gluing paper too much), I have found it so useful for keeping track of the pictures I want to use each week! This way if when I get behind, I won’t feel so overwhelmed with it because I already have the pictures all figured out! Then all I need to do is print them and play with the paper and embellishments!

I got a sewing machine for Christmas from my mom (she was sick of me holding hers hostage at my house!). Can you tell? I have used it on every layout or project I’ve done since Christmas! lol It gives the PL pages so much more visual interest and texture and it’s really easy to do too! I just practice on a spare piece of paper first whenever I change my stitch pattern on the machine and then I don’t have to worry about not liking it on my page! Also, I don’t worry about being super straight with my stitches…I think it adds character to my pages!

These transparency stickers that come in the kit are awesome to add on top of photos which I love doing with my PL layouts because it adds a little more fun to the pages I think! I actually backed a lot of the transparent stickers on a white sheet of paper before I used them because I wanted them to stand out more!

I hope I’ve given you a few tips and tricks for your Project Life spreads! I’d love to see what you do with your kit!

Blessings

Locker Room: Layout with Triangles

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hello there!!! Caroli here and today again I’m playing at the Locker Room 🙂 This time I want to share with you a step by step tutorial for making a simple layout using our January kit, Tailor Made.

So, let’s start! First thing I made was placing my pic in the rigth side of the paper, as base I used this grid patterned paper from Amy Tangerine’s Stitched.

cliquekits_tutorial_lockerroom_carolischulz

As I said, the main element in this layout will be triangles, so I’ll use chipboard ones from Creative Embellishments included on the kit as pattern for cutting some paper triangles, and also I will adhere paper to them to make them more versatile.

After cutting triangles of several sizes and patterns this is how I placed them on my layout:

In order to give volumen and make the layout more interesting, I used foam dots behind some triangles, placed some a bit behind the pic and some other over the pic.  I do love how chipboard ones look in combination with paper 🙂

Now it’s time to place my title, and of course I’ll use the gorgeous Thickers included on the kit, I simply adore them ❤  I also used grey alpha from my stash to complete the phrase.

At this point this is how my layout looks like, it’s almost finished:

I just need to add some more embellishments, journaling and some splatters of mist and it will be done.

And this is the final result, such a simple yet interesting layout with lots of tiny details that make it special 🙂

Hope you liked the idea of this layout and give it a try, let me know if you do it so 😉 Have a great weekend!

January Designer in the Spotlight – Nina Yang

Hey Clique fans!  We hope you have been enjoying the January 2015 kit Tailor Made featuring Amy Tangerine’s Stitched collection.  This month we included a super adorable heart die in the kit from Waffle Flower Crafts and also have a stamp set and star die as a January Add-on.  We are so in love with Waffle Flower Crafts we just had to have them as our January Designer in the Spotlight!

waffle-flower-crafts-header

Nina Yang is the beautiful face behind  Waffle Flower Crafts and today she is sharing a little bit about her creative process, her everyday, and her company with us all today!

nina-yang-avatar-240

Q.  Can you tell us a little bit about your creative process?
A.   I usually start a project by trying something new… It can be a new product, a new technique , a new type of crafts, or a new color combination. Sometimes I will have something very specific in mind but most of the times, I just play and see what I will get.
Q.  Where and when are you most creative?
A.   Alone at home in my little craft cave – a small closet attached to my office.
Q.  What are some of your must have supplies?
A.   A scoring board, a bone folder, scissors, stamps and inks!
Q.  Who are some of your influences?
A.  As for product designing, inspiration from my other hobbies, my everyday life and my past experience defines my design. I try not to take inspiration from other stamp designers. It is hard to tell whether you were inspired or you copied a design. I’m actually trying to avoid “trends” unless we are one of the first or we can make it different and unique.
Q.  3 things people probably do not know about you.
A. – I wasn’t big on pink until I started making cards. Now I cannot put my hot pink inkpad down!
– I am stuck at Candy Crush Level 254 for 2 months now. When can I get a free pass again?
– Neither my husband nor I cook, so all you can find in our fridge are diet coke, yogurt, milk, orange juice and baby carrots.
Favorite:
Book:  I like reading technical manuals… Does it count?
Movie:  Léon: The Professional by Luc Besson
Candy:  Dark Chocolate
Drink:  Diet Coke
Music:  Alternative (I don’t know what it means, it is what my iTunes says)
Color:  Emerald Green, Hot Pink and Sunshine Yellow
TV Show:  Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)
Q.   How long have you been designing stamp sets and dies and what inspired you to get started?
A.  I’ve been playing with computer drawing programs for 15 years. I cannot draw by hand but I can make the lines work on a computer 🙂 I made a few box templates to share on my blog when I first started blogging. The templates got popular and it encouraged me to learn more. I was first offered the opportunity to design stamps and dies back in spring, 2013 after joining a manufacture design team.
Q.  Where did the name of your company Waffle Flower Crafts come from?
A. It was more than a decade ago, I took an Adobe Illustrator class at school. I combined a few tricks I learned and ended up with something similar to what we have in our logo now while attempting to draw a sunflower. LOL
Q.  We love your product packaging.  Can you share how you came up with the color and design of your packaging?
A.  Oh, the packaging?! Thank you for the compliment! I started by trying to follow what some of my favorite stamp companies were doing but I couldn’t find a supplier that carries the same clear bag… I had to choose a different bag size which led me to try to be totally different from all the others. It was a risky choice but I got nothing to lose. I’m glad that you like it! I think the packaging says something about me and why I am doing this. I just want it to be “fun” and “happy”.
Nina, Thank you so much for taking the time to share a little bit about yourself with our fans!  We are so excited to include your products in this months kit and we hope you enjoy the projects our team has created using your products!
We hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about the face behind Waffle Flower Crafts.  Head on over to their website, Facebook Page and remember to follow them on Instagram!
Thanks so much for stopping today!  We have a great week of posts and sneaks for you this week so stay tuned to the blog and Facebook!

Geek Lab – Enjoy the Snow

Blog Image_Geek Lab

Hello Clique-fans! It’s Danielle here today with a layout from the Geek Lab. For this layout I wanted to create a snow background to match the picture. I used one of the stitch cut files (picture on the left) that came with the January Tailor Made kit and re-arranged the circles to create a snow look (picture on the right).

Enjoy the Snow layout, @Danielle de Konink, @Cliquekits, #cliquekits #scrapbooking #DIY #CKTailorMade

I cut this out on a sheet of cardstock and used it as a mask with white spray ink on kraft cardstock. Very easy and simple to create snow on your background.

Enjoy the Snow layout, @Danielle de Konink, @Cliquekits, #cliquekits #scrapbooking #DIY #CKTailorMade

Here is the layout I’ve made with this background. As you can see, the Amy Tangerine Stitched collection can be used for any kind of subject, that’s why I love it so much!

Enjoy the Snow layout, @Danielle de Konink, @Cliquekits, #cliquekits #scrapbooking #DIY #CKTailorMade
