Student of the Month – Hannah Lemieux

student of the month

Aloha!! This is Hannah here and I am so excited to be one of the Guest Designers for March!! The “Hell Yeah “ Kit is so much fun to play with. I am loving all the black and white with pops of colors. For the layout I made I decided to go with that concept. Since I love making my backgrounds unique I took one of the Pattern papers and altered it. Yes, i know that sounds kinda scary, right?! I picked the Seven Paper Goldie paper002, which has Amazing black doodled stripes. Now I messed up there definitely was no going back. I broke out my watercolors and started painting more stripes. The Inspiration I had for my background was a shirt I recently bought that was a black and white plaid. I love the the stripes on my plaid shirt are different widths. On my background I played with this thought of making some of the lines wider. Since I had already picked out my papers, I went with twisted citrus in distress ink (watered down to look like watercolor) and some hot pink Heidi Swapp Color Shine for some of the other stripes on the background. I splattered the access of my paint brush in a couple of spots too.

IMG_0628

I love how it turned out, even though it isn’t perfect. I find that is the key to homemade backgrounds. Embracing the imperfect!! The imperfections often adds to it’s uniqueness.
Now it was time to build the rest of my layout. I knew that I wanted to use three 3×4 size photos that I took recently during a unexpected trip back to visit my family. I took some nature shots of things we definitely don’t see much of in Hawaii, like sumac and birch tress. I knew I wanted to create this layout so my kids could see a little of what I used to see growing up but is so foreign to them.
IMG_5398
Because my background was so busy I tried to pick just a few papers that were mostly black and white with pops of colors that were either in my photos or in the background paper I created.
IMG_5396
I layered some of the exclusive die cuts pieces made by Pink Fresh Studios in a few areas to draw your eye around my photos. The wash tape also added a nice layer without being to much because you can kinda see through it.
IMG_0627 IMG_5395
For my title I used one of the pocket page cards from the Paper add by Photo play. The word Wonderful just looked so pretty. I couldn’t help but use it on my layout. I added the word Nature in the Red alphas by Studio Calico. I love these alphas, they are just the perfect size for titles. I only wish they had more of each color.
IMG_5391
For my journaling, I waned to do something a little different. Plus with this busy background there wasn’t a lot of space on the main part of the layout to see what I wanted to write. I cut a little off the the sides of the layout and added the patterned paper on plain white card stock. This gave me a little edge around the layout for journaling.
IMG_0629 IMG_5399
I think it turned out really cool and adds something different to my layout.
Here is a look at the full layout completed.
IMG_5390
Thanks for joining us today!! I hope you were inspired!! Don’t forget to come back and see what the other designers are doing with their March “Hell Yeah” kits too.
Aloha, Hannah

January Student of the Month – Kelly Barron

student-of-the-month

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to bring you our first Student of the Month for January!  I have been following Kelly on YouTube for awhile and I love her style!  I am so very excited to have her as a guest for Clique Kits using the January kit!  Please make sure to check out her YouTube channel and subscribe to see more work from her using the January kit!  Please say hello to Kelly!

Hi everyone! I have loved all things crafty for as long as I can remember.  My mother taught me to cross stitch and latch hook, and that was a love throughout my childhood.  I have also dabbled in cake decorating and crochet.  I stumbled upon scrapbooking after my son was born in 2000 and have been in love with the hobby ever since.  There is just something so special about playing with pretty papers and embellishments that is just therapy for my soul, with the added bonus of documenting our lives. I also love to knit and usually have a couple of projects on needles at all times. I have been married to my husband for 17 years and we have two teenagers who keep us on our toes!

Kelly BarronClique Kits

Hey guys, it’s Kelly and I’m so excited to be sharing my first layout using the Alegria kit!  I love the bright colors of this collection.  I have been working quite a bit on my December album, so when it came time to make a 12×12 layout, I chose one of my favorite page designs.  I find that when making the first layout with a new kit it is easier for me to stick with something that I like to do in regards to the design.

Celebrate---CK

On this close up you can see the dimension of the various layouts.  Save your glassine envelopes!!  They make great layering pieces on your pages.

I love to journal on tags and place them in the glassine bags, especially when I use mixed media on my layout. I have a process video if you would like to take a peek at my process. I’ll have some more videos to follow using this kit!

Student of the Month – Alicia Tillman

2015-11-10 03.11.52

Hi there everyone! I’m Alicia and I am so happy to be guest designing here for you with the Clique into December kit which is nothing short of amazing!  Just to give you a little info about me: I live in Minnesota, USA with my fiancee (of 14 years hahaha), our pomeranian Swiper (yes Dora’s arch enemy), and my two daughters who are 4 and 9 and really the light and entertainment of my life!! I have been scrapbooking for a couple years now but have been a creative soul my whole life!  In my free time I love to hang with my family, binge watch Netflix shows, and of course scrapbook…and sometimes I can manage to do all 3 at the same time HA! Well enough about me let’s get to what you’re really here for!!

2015-11-25 09.02.10

This is the project that I created with this lovely kit and it is the intro page for my December Daily this year! I am using a Snap 6×8 album so I started by cutting a piece of watercolor paper from my stash to size to use as my background paper.  Honestly I didn’t want to use a 6×8 piece of my patterned paper from the kit because they are just too precious to me LOL!  I took some red Distress Ink and a polka dot stencil and then did some splatters with an aqua color to match the PinkFresh Studios paper to add some texture and interest to the background.  Then comes the fun part! Playing with the kit!!  I took one of the 4×4 glassine envelopes that came included and put some of the amazing PinkFresh sequins into it.  I also used some of the silver glitter POW paper to punch out some tiny stars and circles, and finished with a little bit of white glitter from my stash.  I just love what it adds to the layers not to mention because it moves around in the envelope its fun too, right?!

IMG_0089

Here you can see a bit closer of the main cluster.  I also layered in one of the exclusive 3×4 cards behind the photo and decided to add the majority of my title directly into the white space of the photo.  For that I used the gold tile alphas that came with the kit from Pink Fresh and I just love how it turned out! I feel like it really almost became part of the pic.  I finished the title off at the bottom with those awesome PinkFresh Puffy alphas and OMG! They are the BOMB for sure!!

IMG_0091

I did also end up creating a pocket to house a shipping tag from the kit and finished that off with some of the red hemp cord!  I will eventually end up doing some journaling on there just as soon as I figure out what I’d like it to say!!  I then went through the die-cuts from Christmas Wishes and selected some that I thought would go.  I didn’t wanna over do it because it was the intro page, but I wanted just enough interest to grab your attention and make you want to look through the album.  For some finishing touches I used one of the hashtag flairs (which again, hoard worthy for sure lol) and some of the acrylic shapes from PinkFresh which are one of my favorite embellishments from the kit!  I really hope that you enjoyed this project and will follow me over on my Youtube channel to see more of my December Daily using this awesome kit!!  I will leave a link to the video below if you’d like to check out the process and I hope that you will subscribe if you like what you see! Thanks again to the whole Clique Kit family and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Hugs~Alicia

Dream Catch Me Where I Fall…

student of the month

Hi there CK fans!

It’s Tarrah McLean joining you on the Clique kit blog today! I am so excited to be here as a guest designer sharing a layout with you that I have created using the gorgeous November Kit ‘Tapestry’.

Dream 1

As soon as I saw the exclusive feather digital cut files I knew I wanted to create a dream catcher look on my layout…I cut the different feathers from some of the Wildflower patterned papers included in this months kit. I used the hemp twine to attach the feathers at the bottom….

Dream Detail

My title just came to me as I was creating this layout…I wanted to tie in the dream catcher theme with my title and came up with Dream Catch Me Where I Fall….I used the Dream word from the Dear Lizzy Gold words add on and the small blue and gold letter stickers from the Wildflower sticker pack…

Dream Detail 2

I traced 2 different sized circles and cut them out to create the circles at the top, I then layered other papers and one of the frames over my photo. I also added some ephemera and of those beautiful flair buttons. I chose to use a black and white photo considering the amount of colour already used in the layout! I finished my layout by adding some journalling around the biggest circle.

Clique Kit Guest Designer

Thank you so much for joining me on the Ck blog today! I hope you are inspired to pull out your Tapestry kit and create something wonderful!

Happy creating..be sure to keep on the look out on Instagram and Facebook for the other projects I have created too!

Tarrah x

A Quintarium of cards!

student-of-the-month

Hi CliqueKits readers, Norine here today with some cards for card week!  I’ve been scrapbooking and card making since 1997 and I love being able to share inspiration and techniques with other like minded paper lovers!  I’m very happy to be guesting here today, and even more so when I saw all the yummy things included in the card kit!  Wowzers!!  The variety of papers, embellishments and stamps in the kit made it easy to come up with 5 cards right off the hop!  (I have a philosophy in life….anything worth doing is worth overdoing!  Hence 5 cards in one day!!)

cliquecard1

For the first card, I stamped the sentiment on the vellum paper and embossed with white and then colored the back side of the vellum with markers.

cliquecard2

The card above has 3 flag banners made from paper in the paper pad.  I thought it would make a cute “happy gestation period” card!

cliquecard3

And the gold cardstock in the kit!?  SO many possibilities with that!  Here, I die cut the word and adhered it over top everything else.  And those geometric butterflies.  I die!

cliquecard4

This is my favorite card of the lot!  Simple but effective!  I cut the bottom of the Hello There sentiment off.  You can do that y’know!  And stick them right back together when you want to use the whole stamp again!  Again with the white heat embossing and marker coloring on the back.

cliquecard5

For this last card, I die cut the letters from the gold foil paper with Tim Holtz alphabet dies.  A strip of the same paper along side the striped paper, a bit of twine and a scattering of sequins and you’ve got yourself a fun card!

I hope this gives you some ideas or inspiration!  Let us know what you love best about the CliqueKits card kit!

Guest Designer: September 2015 “I’m in the Clique!”

student of the month

If someone would have told me that I would be guest designer for a scrapbooking kit club, I would have looked at them like they were crazy! I consider myself to be an everyday scrapper. I hold scrapbook designers right up there with Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama!

(Teach me your ways!!!!)

I have certainly grown in my scrapbooking abilities, enough to get noticed by others…which is awesome! I thought I would celebrate my super cool accomplishment by making this layout.

IMG_8850

I used the September 2015 Captured kit along with a piece of textured white card stock from my stash.

IMG_8852The kit came with a piece of black crepe paper that I ruffled on the side of my photos.  I further embellished the crepe paper by threading a strand of sequin with silver thread. I used an exclusive Clique Kit digit die cut, “Love This”, to add additional dimension to the layout.

IMG_8851The kit included papers and embellishments from the Cocoa Vanilla Hello Lovely collection. One of the papers included several cut aparts which I layered on the side of the layout. I added an exclusive flare that was given to me by the wonderful folks at Clique Kits which also served as the inspiration for my title. The title features a die cut “hello” and gray puffy font stickers from  Evalicious. I added the Kal Barteski pink font by Thickers from my stash.  I finished the layout with a few butterfly die cuts from Cocoa Vanilla and black mist from Heidi Swapp.

IMG_8854It took me less than 20 minutes to put this layout together! I love the overall relaxed look and I am so happy with the finished product! And I am glad to be a part of the Clique!

Happy scrappin’!

Student of the Month-Alicia King

student-of-the-month

I am happy to be a guest designer on Clique Kits today! and i am loving all of your pages too! so much inspiration here ♥

this month’s kit just screams summer! just having got back from our family trip to idaho, i knew  that our pictures from the lake would be perfect to use with the kit.

“Sand & Sunshine”

DSC_3084-001

DSC_3085-001

aren’t the gold alphabet stickers awesome?! and the gold pineapple washi tape and vellum worked so good with my photos ♥ i love to mix and match different embellishments for my titles.

made a mini pennant banner out of paper scraps and then used my sewing machine to stitch it on to my page.

DSC_3090-001

DSC_3086-001

a favorite tip to share that I do frequently is when you are trimming that edge piece with the bar code, save those scraps! because they make great border strips on your pages! i also like to run the edge of my paper with some scissors for that distressed look.

DSC_3104-001

i love layering embellishments, and that pink flamingo ♥

“Hello there PARADISE”

DSC_3091-001

DSC_3081-001

this fabulous gold pineapple washi tape makes great borders…and I LOVE the mini polka dots in the background!

DSC_3082-001

this paper was perfect for my title, just added the “paradise” embellishment!

DSC_3083-001

and I love to cut out words out of paper, these were a good fit!

typed my journaling on the computer, and then printed on cardstock. I usually go for the printed look, but I have been better lately at using my own handwriting, it makes your pages more personable. and sewing! I just love adding little stitches here and there to my pages, thread is inexpensive and you can pick up a lot of colors to coordinate with your layouts.

“YOU & ME”

this was actually the first page I worked on using the Ambrosia Kit. I really wanted to use this picture, since we just celebrated 14 years of marriage, say what?!

DSC_3076-001

and again I paired the little journaling card “look on the bright side” with “life is good” and went along with the rest of my journaling. just little things can make a great impact on a page.

Alicia thanks so much for being one of our August Guest Designers!  We love what you did with this months kit!  To follow Alicia please check out all her social media links listed below!  Enjoy your day!
