“ABC Dude” Process Video

I wanted to pull out the colors in the October kit, Sapphire, to use on a back-to-school page.  I thought the combination of navy, mustardy yellow, and aqua were a great palette, and some of the greys and blacks on the Pinkfresh patterned papers reminded me of a chalkboard look.

I wanted to do something with “ABC’s”, so I used a cut file to cut out my letters, making the rectangles just smaller than my photo to make the photo stand out more. You can see how I manipulated the cut file in my video below. I backed the letters with different colored papers.

My initial plan was to use kraft paper as the background, but I just wasn’t feeling it.  I had ONE whole sheet of patterned paper left in the kit, and it was a perfect fit!  I added a few more black splatters to match what was already on the paper, and then just layered my cut files and photo on.

To draw more attention to the photo, I want to have some “arrows” pointing towards it, and the triangles from one of the patterned paper were perfect for the job.  I tried to create a visual triangle with the colors at the top and bottom with the colors on the abc cards.

You can watch how I completed this page from start to finish below.  Hope you enjoy!

Everyday has a Story

They say a photo can say a 1000 words.  But that’s only if you are the one who knows the story behind it!  When I am scrapbooking, I often have to write out the full story so that my children (and anyone else who looks through my books) knows what this particular photo means to me.

For this page that I created with the October Kit, Sapphire, I had a bit to say, but didn’t want it to take away from the design of my page.  So I created a little pocket behind my photo to hide my journaling.

I added a piece of paper to the back of my page to help hold me journaling tag in place.

The tag is one of the exclusive cards in the kit.  I added a little punched strip to the top and a die cut from the PinkFresh Die Cuts pack.  Then I stitched it all together.

My story is written on the back.

You can also see one of the October cut files under my photo that I layered with patterned paper, die cuts, and flair!

Be sure to tell your story on your pages!!

Locker Room: Everyday has a story

Hello everyone! It’s Maryám here, and I’m so happy to be here with you again. Today I’m going to show you my first layout with the October Sapphire kit.

For this layout I’ve used a paper that comes in the kit. I don’t usually create 12×12 layouts, but the papers of this month are SO beautiful, that’s why I’ve decided to use this one.

This paper comes with a lot of black splatters, so that was so easy to me to create the design. I’ve put my photo, cut some flowers, added some embellishments, added the title, and basically that is!

Here are more details of my page:

Guys, thanks so much for stopping by today!

I’ll see you next time.

Love This Cabin Life

art-studioHi Everyone!   Audrey here to share a little bit of “art” with you today!

When I saw the sapphire kit this month, I REALLY wanted to try and use these colors for a fall themed page.  At first glance, it may not seem like a fall-ish kit, but with just a touch of brown, you can really achieve a fall-like feel!

I began by adding some brown mists in different shades to my background and painting them on with a water color brush.

I then punched some leaves from a few of the more “solid” color papers in the kits in navy, mustard, mint, and pink.  I clustered these leaves behind the photos with some of the other “real” copper colored leaved included in the kit.

I stitched a circle to help ground the photo and the title together.

I was hesitant about adding in that little bit or orangy-red, but I’m glad I did!

How is this kit inspiring you to create a fall page?  Please share!

Clique Into Summer 2016 – Process Video

Hello everyone! Caroli here and today I want to share this layout I made using the fabulous Clique Into Summer 2016 kit. This is a limited edition kit and features the collection You Are Here by Simple Stories. The kit is full of details that surely can help you documenting your summer memories.

As for me, I have made several projects so far, and now I made this simple layout using the kit and some cutfiles created by our in-house graphic designer Inna Moreva. I specially love the palm tree branches, I’ve used them a lot on all my projects ❤

As you can see, it’s such a simple but colorful layout, the pic was asking for such a flowery frame 🙂

Locker Room: Hello

Hello friends! Leigh, here to share a Locker Room Layout and Process Video for my Hello layout.  I wanted to emphasize the papers in this kit for maximum impact. To do that I chose a white background and different patterns punched into leaf shapes.

Using a Fiskars palm frond punch, and papers from the 6×6 Millie And June Paper Pad by Fancy Pants Designs to draw your attention to the magenta flowers in the photo.

By choosing the magenta pattern as the only solid color background patterned paper for the leaves, it kept the emphasis on that color in the photo. The rest of the fun patterns in the leaves play a supporting role and add interest.

In this close up, you can see how I curled the edges of all the leaves up after stitching them to the layout. I then ran the die cut label from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Snip-its add-ons (available in the Clique Kits Shop)  through my printer to print the journaling.

Love of my life

Hello! Donna here to share a page I created using the June Kit “La Dolce Vita” featuring Elle’s Studio Little Moments.

This kit is super beautiful! I was inspired by the butterflies and soft pastel colors in this kit. I played around that inspiration and this is the result.

Gelatos and watercolors are my favorite ingredients to my pages/projects lately, so you will see a lot of those to more projects. For this page, I created a subtle colorful background. And added little bits of texture around the page.

Here are more detailed shots. The heart shape was a last minute addition. I was looking at the page and thought it still need something. I used a yellow PITT pencil to lightly draw the heart shape.

Then I used a black waterproof pen to write along the lines of the heart shape, “Love of my life”.Donna-Espiritu---La-Dolce-Vita-June-2016---Elle's-Studio---layout-03d

And here is the process video for this layout so you can see how I created it.
Enjoy watching!

Happy crafting,

Editing Cut files

Hi friends!  Candace here to share my first blog post with you as a design team member.  I am so excited to be here and share some ideas with you today on editing cut files.

Whenever I am stuck for ideas on a layout I go to my cut files.  By using cut files it can easily give you a design base for your layout.  I love that Clique Kits includes amazing cut files and digital printables with their kits every month.  For November’s kit I had already done some layouts with the included cut files so I went online to look for some free ones.

I found one that I liked but it had too many triangles and included words on it that didn’t fit the theme of my layout.  No worries!  All I did was open the cut file in my Silhouette design studio and erased the parts of the cut file that I didn’t want.  This can be done two ways.  You can either use the eraser tool and carefully erase what you don’t need or you can delete entire elements.  To delete entire elements you will need to ungroup the cut file  so all elements of the cut file are separated.  You then can easily select the parts of the cut file you don’t want and you can delete them.

With the base of my layout created with the cut file the layout came together fast.  Here is a look at the final layout.

And a few close ups…

I have also included a process video for you!

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have any questions just let me know.  Have a beautiful day and a lovely Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone! Sandy here to share with you a layout I made with the I AM Gold kit and the theme for my layout is “connected.” I AM CONNECTED….everyday through social media I post snapshots of everyday moments, celebrations, vacations and even a selfie. It is because of social media I stay connected to my family and friends and I have developed new friendships.

The I AM GOLD kit was made so that we can document more about ourselves and know that if I look through my social media feed like Instagram and Facebook. I can find pictures of me that I can use for the I AM GOLD kit. I want my kids to know the connection I have with my family and with my friends because it is through all of the people and experiences that has made me…ME! I want my kids to be able to look through my I AM album and know that who I am because of all the influences I have in my life. I AM Connected.
