field-notes

Hey everyone! Stephanie Gold here with a Traveler’s Notebook layout that’s sure to either inspire you to create in your notebook OR inspire you in life!! Haha you will see what I mean… 😉

2016-10-11-1

Sometimes I just need a little pick me up… A reminder that I CAN achieve my dreams even if I only make a little bit of progress some days. Today this layout is all about reminding myself to stay focused and keep working hard!

2016-10-11-2

2016-10-11-3

I created a couple little flaps using this gorgeous daily washi tape and some journal cards.

2016-10-11-4

The day I created this my brain was being flooded by all the things I thought I was doing wrong or not good enough, so my “journaling” ended up being short, bold, positive phrases.

October Kickoff and Fair Trade Month

1

Hi everybody, it’s Gia here and it has been a while since I stopped by here on the blog for a monthly kickoff post. This month is really special because on the 1st we introduced our new design team for the term with an incredible blog share-I hope you will take the time to hop if you haven’t already. These ladies did an outstanding job showing us their signature style while answering some “ice breaker” questions about themselves. I also saw some of the newest product from the Clique Kits shop including the latest American Crafts and Simple Stories summer and fall releases. These big manufacturers are always on our list of favorites from scrapbooking’s fast fashion design world. Names like Paige Evans, Amy Tangerine, and brands like Pink Paislee, Crate Paper, and Simple Stories are always in demand.

At Clique Kits, from our inception as a new company 3 years ago ( oh my goodness can you believe it has been that long?) it has been important to us that in addition to being part of the fandome of these major industry manufacturers, we show equal support to the small businesses, start-ups, indie artists and other resources for unique supplies to bring to our subscribers and followers.  This decision which is largely ethics and values driven (take a look at our mission statement and you will see what I mean) led us to some of our now favorite companies like Pinkfresh Studios (featured in this month’s kit Sapphire) and Pretty Little Studios, Freckled Fawn and other small woman led small businesses whose products we love !

2

Handmade and indie artists are another group we love to support and showcase in our kits and shop. Some examples are things like handmade crocheted embellishments, and products made in small batches such as laser cut felt and acrylic pieces. Last but not least, we love products  made from eco-friendly materials like recycled paper or reclaimed textiles. We once featured origami hearts made from recycled anime comic books from Japan, and 2 Octobers ago we had strips of torn recycled sari cloth from India.

For our holiday kits this year, Clique Kits is teaming up with an artist, designer, and small business boss named Alexandra Micchiardi, owner of Meli Melo Studio webstore and Etsy shop for complimentary stamp sets to use with our annual limited edition holiday kits.

Also in the shop right now is a travel stamp from Meli Melo that I had a wonderful time using with my Limited Edition “Wander” travel notebook kit on my recent trip to Thailand.

Everyday Has a Story

study-hall

Hey everyone! Stephanie Gold here and I am THRILLED to be posting for the very first time on the Clique Kits Blog!!!! Eek! I’m still pinching myself.

2016-9-27-2

I put together a layout for you today using the incredible Sapphire Kit. When I saw this yellow pattern paper, I was immediately obsessed. I cut an 11 x 11 square to put in the center of white cardstock so I could journal around the edges.

2016-9-27-4

I layered a bunch of the different elements that came in the kit to accent my black and white photo. This is what we call our Annual Gold Family Silly Face Selfie. We take a silly photo every year on the first day of school. We are a pretty silly family so these are some of my FAVORITE memories.

2016-9-27-3

This giant die cut that came in the kit was the PERFECT phrase to use as my title. The smallest, most minute details of an ordinary day can prove to be some of our most cherished memories.

2016-09-27-1

I have a pretty simple style. I like to have clear focal points and distinct “white space.” What kind of style do you have? Do you ever stray and mix things up? I can’t wait to get to know you all better and see your beautiful creations from this kit!! Much love everyone!

Geek Lab: Try Printing on Velum

geeklab

When you open that kit and see the specialty paper like a fantastic gold foil and vellum paper in the October Funfetti, you can do just about anything with it and love the results, it’s so pretty on it’s own.

PicsArt_10-14-10.26.51

But if your looking for a unusual embellishment to add to your layout, I’ve got an idea for you.  I ran mine through the printer as a journaling piece in a recent layout and I thought you might like to know how.:)

Supplies that I used for this project:

  • Inkjet printer
  • vellum
  • restickable glue stick

98e137fa-5374-4e19-8bef-188ad1698399

Here is what I did:

  • Using Word, I typed what I wanted and printed it out.
  • With your velum, use the restickable glue stick to attach a piece of velum larger than the printed area taking care to make sure the edges of the velum are secure against the paper.
    • The restickable glue stick is exactly like what is on the back of sticky notes.  It will totally peal of without residue or harm to the surface.
  • Insert the paper with vellum attached into printer as before and print your document again.
  • Let dry completely before attaching it to your layout.

This process works for all types and kinds of paper and I sure hope you’ll like the results.

I sure did!

Study Hall: Borgo20

studyhallHello everyone. 🙂 It’s Elisabetta here! Today I’m going to show you a layout that I adore. As soon as I saw the triangle acetate pieces from the Clique Kits Store, I knew that I wanted to use a lot of them on a single layout, and this page turned out exactly as I imagined it.

IMG_2854 copia

I just LOVE how pretty and colorful these triangles are! This design would look great on a 12×12 layout too!

IMG_2856

Borgo 20 (venti=twenty in italian) is a restaurant where me and my friends use to go every now and then. It’s a small place but you can eat some great italian food.

IMG_2859 IMG_2858

Since everything is already so colorful, I decided to use a black & white photo so that it didn’t get lost on the page. The triangles pointing to it also helps drawing the attention to the picture.

IMG_2860

IMG_2861

The gold little arrows that you’ll find in the alphas set are perfect to use with the acetate triangles!

IMG_2863 IMG_2866 IMG_2867

As always, you can watch the process video for this layout! Let me know what you think! Have a great day scrappy friends and thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Yearbook: Birthday

blog-image_yearbook

Hello everyone. 🙂 Elisabetta here to show you a new layout!! As soon as I saw the cut apart paper with the 4×4 squares on it, that’s part of the kit, I knew that I wanted to cut them in order to create a grid layout!

IMG_2826 copia copia

I wanted this page to be simple and not too busy. I added just a few embellishments.

IMG_2829

Wood veneers are one of my favorite items this month. I used them all and they are perfect for every page! I bet you’re loving them too. 🙂

IMG_2828 IMG_2830 IMG_2831

There are a lot of fun texts on the 4×4 cut parts and they are perfect for every occasion. You can use them on a grid layout as I did, or in an Instagram album that you can find in the shop!

IMG_2832 IMG_2833

I hope I’ve inspired you to use this paper in a fun way! Have a great day scrappy friends 🙂

Be your own paper designer !

studyhall

Here is a little scrapbooking insider tidbit for you:) When a company, like Pinkfresh Studio, is designing a line of paper there will be repeated elements throughout the collection ( or they would just look like separate pieces of paper, right?!)  Designers will choose Color and Shapes as the two main ways to create a cohesive collection. So, when I have no idea of where to start because I’m in a creative funk, Those are the things that I look for and try to pull inspiration from:)

paper3

On these two pieces of ‘Happy Things’ paper, I admired the triangles. The way they were orientated, overlapping, transparent and dimensional.  So I thought I would recreate the paper in my own way with the pictures being the majority of the triangles.

PicsArt_10-14-04.08.04

I chose a picture with no faces or orientation so It would be easier to cut from and not worry about missing eyeballs.  Sky shots, floors, or other non portrait like pictures would work very well.

PicsArt_10-14-03.59.40

Then, I stitched and pasted the pictures, velum and other fussy cut triangles from the kit to create the ‘paper’ on which to have my full pictures on. I also stitched a few floating triangles as well to add some texture.

PicsArt_10-14-03.58.06

From there my creative juices started flowing and I was able to add the final touches with some alphas, height, wood veneer and watercolor splashes.

PicsArt_10-14-03.55.04

So my humble advice is not to fret when your stuck. Just be your own scrapbook paper designer and I’m sure that you will love the result.

XOXOXO

Geek Lab: Dream Big

geeklab

Donna here again with my last but not the least layout using the October kit: Funfetti

One of the things I couldn’t do when it comes to scrapbook style is “white space”. I imagined a page with lots of white space, but again, ended up with loads of stuff tucked in and layered here and there. Unconsciously that’s what I did. When I finished I thought wow, where’s the white space I told myself lol! DonnaEspiritu-CK-October06

I made the triangles in the printable file as banners and doodled on the edges using a black pen. I cut the scallop edges of the pink ombre paper (also in the printable) freehand and doodled on it as well.DonnaEspiritu-CK-October06a

DonnaEspiritu-CK-October06c

I used my gelatos and achieved these super cute splattersDonnaEspiritu-CK-October06b

DonnaEspiritu-CK-October06e

One of my fave parts in this layout. I love macarons and ice cream and reminded myself I’ve got to include them on my page no matter what.DonnaEspiritu-CK-October06d

I hope you got inspired by my page today. Thanks for dropping by!
Happy crafting,

Geek Lab: Today

geeklab

Hello ladies!! Elisabetta here to show you another 12×12 layout made with the October Funfetti Kit. I really wanted to focus on the printables for this layout. I’ve always loved printables because they are yours forever and you can print them over and over again!

I especially loved this month’s geometric shapes and circles and I thought about including them all in one layout!!

IMG_2835 copia

As you can see, I also cut my picture in the same geometric shape and I placed everything in a kind of diagonal way on the page.

IMG_2837

For the title, I decided to use the Amy Tangerine’s word thickers that I found in the Clique Kits Shop. I think that their neutral color looks great among all those colorful diecuts.

IMG_2839

I think that printables are also great to use when you’ve almost killed your kit and you don’t have a lot of supplies left. As you can see, I didn’t use a lot more than printables: just a piece of vellum to frame the page, some wood veneers, letter stickers and that’s it!! Very simple and fast!

elisabetta october geek lab IMG_2840 IMG_2842 IMG_2846 IMG_2843

I hope this layout inspired you to use the printables more on your pages. I also uploaded a process video on my YT channel so you can see my whole process. Have a great day scrappy friends 🙂

Let everyday sparkle

blog-image_yearbook

I love how this latest page I created using the October Kit: Funfetti turned out. I had total fun with it.

My friend and daughter were ‘selfie buddies”. They take tons of photos together. I actually envy them because I couldn’t get a decent selfie with my own daughter when I try. She would always get the phone or wouldn’t smile. lol! But with her “tita ninang Aica”, she’s all smile and behaved! I don’t know what my friend does that makes my daughter stay but I love it when I see them like this.

DonnaEspiritu-CK-October04

For my page, my first idea was to create a collage-type of scrapbook page. I printed tons in this series but ended up with this lot only, the photo sizes were too big.

For the background, I brushed different colors of paints and mists. I let each layer dry first before brushing another color. Though I had an accident when splashing black ink. I didn’t notice that it hasn’t dried totally when I adhered my photos so I got smears in some areas. I had two curvy strips for a fun overall movement

DonnaEspiritu-CK-October04b

I like how the fussy cut balloons made the page more festive, more fun

DonnaEspiritu-CK-October04a

I tucked in strips of the vellum paper in some photos, cutting the edges using my pinking shears. Then I randomly scattered some of the gold sequins and my page is done.

DonnaEspiritu-CK-October04c

Thanks for dropping by!
Have a nice day 😉
