Special Guests Katie Skiff & Kelly Holbrook

Hello everyone!  Erica here to bring you some fabulous cards from a couple of our favorite card makers!  These two ladies were hand picked by Clique Kits Co Founders because for one they are amazing designers and for two they are past Memory Works ladies just like us!  Katie Skiff & Kelly Holbrook are amazing and when we released our Spring card kit we knew we had to get one of the kits to each of them!  Since April is our anniversary month and we all about going back to our “Orgins” we wanted to bring in some past Memory Works girls to spotlight!  First up we have Katie Skiff!  Katie is talented card maker and you can find her on YouTube here!

Katie Skiff
Hi there, I’m Katie Skiff and I’m excited to be joining you on the Clique Blog today!  Thank to you the fun ladies here for the chance to play around with their new Spring Card Kit!  I was so excited when I saw all the GOLD!!
I pulled everything out, and the first thing to catch my eye was the cute lil Flair that said You Did It!  I thought that would make for a perfect addition to a Graduation Card.  As I dug deeper, I came across the Gold numbers in the die cut pack, and I wanted to use the envelope/bag on the card to slip in a gift card or some money for the graduate.
It all came together nicely after that.  I added the bag to the front of the aqua cardstock, and added another die cut piece before I tied on the ribbon.  I popped up the gold numbers and added the flair.  This really was very simple, but with all the colors and pops of gold it really stands out!
I do have a special graduate in mind for this cute card!

Thanks again for the opportunity to play and I look forward to sharing more with you this month!

Next we have Kelly Holbrook!

One of my favorite things to do is to cut notches for little details to poke out. Here, I used a tab which serves a dual purpose, because it also accents my sentiment on the inside of the card.

Happy Days - detail 1 Happy Days - detail 3 Happy Days 2

I knew that I wanted to include the big flower die cut on the front of my card in a unique way. So, I decided to make the inside of the card part of the design. I included a tag, so there would still be a clear spot to sign it.

Smile - detail 1 Smile - detail 3 Smile 1

So much inspiration from these two ladies!  I love how they used the Spring Card kit and now want to dig into mine!  To grab a kit of your own please head on over to the Clique Kits shop and check them out HERE!  Thanks so much Kelly and Katie for sharing with us today!

Clique Spring Cards

Hello Clique friends!

Marcia back today to show you some of the things I have created with the awesome Clique Kits Spring Card kit. This kit features the oh so popular My Mind’s Eye On Trend 2, an adorable Waffle Flower Crafts bow die, and a fabulous Honey Bee Stamp Set that is only available now in our Spring Card Kit! Take a look …

12705340_557682557729997_5592280439155163829_n

I have to tell you those flamingos and pineapples are my favorites. They were the first things I used to adorn my cards…

YouRock

My daughter’s Vet School white coat ceremony is Saturday!!! I made this card for her. The glassine bag will work perfect to stick a little gift card into. Just what my girl needs … a little $$ to make it through the next 52 weeks of her externships. Yup, I am one proud mama!

Check out this adorable bow! I love that Waffle Flower Crafts die!

BowDie

My next cards make use of more of the dies in the ephemera die cuts pack. These dies make it so easy to put a card together fast! Can’t decide what paper to use … use 2 and cut them on a diagonal for a different look….

Bow_WaffleFlower

Yes, there was a fabulous Honey Bee Stamp set as well. I used it on this coffee cup I created from an SVGcuts Good Day at the Office digital cut file. It looks like the real deal, doesn’t it. I am going to fill it with chocolates for my office assistant who is retiring. It would make a great teacher gift too. I stamped the sentiment here with VersaMark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder.

CoffeeCup

The butterfly was stamped on vellum and then embossed with a white embossing powder before I fussy cut it out.

If you like what you are seeing, then you better hurry and snatch up your Spring Card kit in the Clique store before they are gone!

Thanks for stopping by!

January Student of the Month – Bernii Miller

student of the month

Hello there Clique kits fans, Bernii here with you today to share with you my very first layout that I have created with this month’s Alegria kit as a guest designer.

berni

I am so in love with this kit and as soon as it arrived on my door step here down under I instantly started planning out what pages I wanted to create. So today I actually have two layouts to share with you. The first one was based on the 6 x 6 ” Happy Place” paper pad that I grabbed as an add on from the shop. I simply pulled out the papers that I loved and cut them down to 3×3  squares.

Before adding my watercolour to the back ground I made sure that I brushed those areas with clear gesso so that the cardstock would not buckle and bend. It also helps the black fine line pen to adhere and write better over the watercolour which can tend to be a little glossy.

I just had to add in this exclusive flair to the layout somewhere. It is one of the cutest little foxes I have seen about.

Here is my second layout I also managed to make on the same day with the same kit, although this time i used the Putty My Colours cardstock that I also purchased as an add on from the store. You can find it HERE. To prep this page also I used clear gesso in a thin layer as I knew I wanted to create a mixed media background.

this is bliss layout by Bernii Miller for Clique Kits Alegria Kit. 1

I based this layout on the Hero Arts arrow stencil that I used modelling paste with smack bang in the middle of the layout. I wanted this to act as an anchor point / photo mat for the little 2 x 3 photos that I wanted to use. I then went around the stencil with yellow thread and sprayed over some yellow color mist.

Here is  a closer look at how I created that centre stencil.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope I have given you some inspiration to play with your Alegria kit.

Art Studio-Adventure is Out There

blog-image_art-studio

Hi friends Candace here today sharing a quick layout I made using distress ink and stamp blocks.  I have seen many designers use this technique but I have to say that I was a little afraid to give it a try myself.  I thought that Art Studio would be the perfect time to give it a try.  I was surprised at how easy it was and how great it turned out!

Supplies:

Distress Ink (or another watercolor ink)

Paint brush

Stamp blocks in various sizes

Paper towels

Cardstock

Water

Get to work!:  Place a small amount of watercolor ink on your acrylic stamp block. Next, add a small amount of water so you have a small puddle on your block.  Press the block firmly on to your card stock till all the ink has spread out underneath the block.  Lift the block straight up, clean off any excess and repeat as many times with as many different colors as you would like.

To create my layout I used two different shades of blue distress ink then added some yellow accent color around the page.

Here is a look at the final layout!

And a few close ups…

Thanks for stopping by!  Go ahead and try this technique and make sure to post it on the Clique or tag us on Instagram so we can all swoon over your creation! Have a beautiful day!

Pursue Whatever Sets Your Soul On Fire

geeklab

Hello Clique Kits friends! Marcia here today, sharing a layout created with the December Girl Cave kit featuring the fun Pink Paislee Memorandum collection. I don’t think we have shared the kit here on the blog yet, so let me show you…

4608541_orig

One of my favorite parts of any Clique Kit are the exclusive digital cut files. I thought I could use the “Pursue Whatever Sets Your Soul On Fire” title on a graduation layout. I decided to enlarge the title to make a dramatic statement. My daughter graduated from college with a degree in English with the hopes of someday becoming a writer or an editor. The label paper at the top of my layout worked well to record this. Her passion has always been writing since she was a little girl. Now she is soon to graduate with her Masters degree … yeah!!!!

SoulOnFireThere are lots of fabulous embellishments this month, like these wood veneers from My Mind’s Eye, the Pretty Little Studio acetate tags, and these self adhesive sequins from Jillibean Soup. Oh, and I love the Pink Paislee Memorandum washi tape sheet.

ButterflyGlassesDetail

I challenge you to use a big title on one of your next layouts too. Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to shop the Clique Store’s Black Friday sale for some awesome deals!

Our happy journey

geeklab

Hello everyone! Donna here and I’m back for today’s post using the awesome Dream Quest kit for June.

One of the things I love about Clique Kits is it’s unique and always up to date with the trend. What makes it unique for me are the printable and cut files included when you purchase a kit. How awesome is that, right?

Let me show you my layout

DonnaEspiritu-CratePaperJourney-layout03

I played with the papers by cutting and stacking them up as seen. I added some paper twines to my usual messy threads this time.

DonnaEspiritu-CratePaperJourney-layout03a

I made use of the wooden Maya Road embellishment and adhered the arrow on top of it, instant dimension.

DonnaEspiritu-CratePaperJourney-layout03b

Another shot from a different angle

DonnaEspiritu-CratePaperJourney-layout03c

I kind of created two sections here in my layout. I placed the cut out word arts and printable at the left edge side vertically and again clustered/layered the little bits on top each other as seen. The cute white and gold flair gave it a nice touch.

That’s it for now, see you again in a few days for another post using Dream Quest.

Happy crafting!

Clique Kits June Guest Designer – Brenda Smith

student-of-the-month

Hi lovely creatives!  Brenda here for my first guest post!  Can I just say how exciting it is to be posting my pages for you.   Especially the pages I got to make with the June Clique kit.  This has to be my favorite so far.  The colors and patterns are so pretty!

This first page is all about last year’s trip to the mountains in Arizona.  Every year (except this one) the parents have taken my three kids camping but last year was the first time I got to go with them.  It was so much fun.  We had a camper, a tent and a completely empty campground.  Pretty much perfect.

the page:

clique kits, dream quest @lillylanephoto #cratepaper #journey

Just take a look at that gorgeous alpha!  Isn’t it gorgeous!

For this page I wanted to stick with the draw as much attention to the photos as I could.  I hand cut the layered papers so they would be too perfect and added 5 of the little tags under the photos.  The circle elements draw your eye from the top to the bottom of the page.  The colors of the papers matched the photos so perfectly, too.  It’s almost like this kit was made for them.
