August Kick Off: Let’s Go to Malibu!

CK_Aug17_Logo-02

Hi everybody! It’s me, Gia. I know-long time no blog post. That’s why I am thrilled to be back today to celebrate my favorite kit of the year, on a day that just so happens to be my birthday!

CK_BlogHeader_Aug17-01

Yay! How cute is that flair by Maryam Perez! I love all of the talent and collaboration that go into the design of every single Clique Kit. How about those perfectly coordinated resin scallop shells? And the sequins in this months kit- Erica did an unbelievable job putting that sequin mash together. I am so excited for you ALL to get your kit- whether it is the 12 x 12 paper based main kit or the delightful on-the-go version-the Traveler’s Notebook Kit- this month we are taking you to one of the hippest places. Anywhere in the world is gonna feel like Malibu!

Malibu TN kit

I have just two words right now that sum up this month’s fun twist! Holographic and Neon! It’s a little bit hard to capture the gorgeous holographic highlights in the Pink Paislee Summer Lights collection in the photos- you will see what I mean when you get to hold it your hands!  When I first opened my box, I just wanted to eat it all up. Not to mention the TN Kit contains not one or two, but a WHOLE PACK of Neon gel pens from Kaisercraft. I kid you not this is like a birthday and Christmas all rolled up in one box!

Inspired by the Mood Board!

So the mood board by Lacey Gasper this month kind of jump started my mojo this month. I took one look at that giant scallop shell pool float and I thought to myself- I have to use that “look” on a layout. Take a look!

CK_Aug17-Moodboard-v2

Yes we have seen a lot of tropical motifs this past year- between flamingoes and palm trees and pineapples (and I am crazy about them all), but this scallop shell in luscious iridescent pinkish-lavender captured my attention as something refreshingly different!

I searched up “seashell” in the Silhouette Design store and loved this one by Totally Jamie

I backed the cut with different papers from the 6×6 paper in the TN kit and stitched around the edges for some texture, finishing it off with some sequins for embellishment! Here are some close ups.

Kinda Wish I Was a Mermaid!

But the next best thing was seeing all of the fun mermaid stuff in the August spotlight collection to scrapbook photos of my darling daughter in her mermaid tail.

This idea for this scalloped cut file was one of those Aha moments between Lacey and I to work with this month’s kits and I fell hard for  this GORGEOUS final design Lacey created! I know I will be cutting it again and again, but for this 8 1/2 x 11 layout I wanted the subtle white on white effect for the texture with bits and pieces of ephemera giving it the feel of water’s waves around an underwater mermaid’s lair.  (Don’t you adore that holographic seahorse?) Grab some puffy mermaid stickers right here while supplies last!

Thanks for being here as part of this community! I can’t wait to see what you create!

September Clique Kits Blog Share

Hi everybody. It’s Nicole here, wishing you a fabulous Wednesday! Welcome to the September Pep Rally. This month, we hope to inspire you with the “Moon Child” kit. This kit has lots of products from Kaisercraft, Kesi’ Art, Pretty Little Studio, Doodlebug Designs, American Crafts, Fancy Pants Design and Clique Kits to give you a wide variety!
For our challenge this month, we want to see a layout about who you love to the moon and back?!
The Pep Rally, for those of you who are new to the Clique, is our monthly subscriber and design team blog share typically held the third week of the month and participants earn product credits-yes, free stuff to do what you love-who can beat that? It’s out with the old, in with the new time at Clique Kits when we (hopefully) have all killed our kit from the previous month and have lots to show off, and we start to chat and hype the excitement for the coming month’s kit. In other words, we party! We don’t leave out our guests-there is always a prize for a hopper who comments on each post and likes and shares on social media! Just leave a new comment for each like and share for a separate entry in the random drawing for this month’s prize. One lucky person will win this month’s Moon Child kit! Get the word out and have your friends join our Pep Rally because they might end up with this gorgeous kit at their doorsteps!
Here’s today’s line up:

Art Studio: Adventure

Art Studio

Hello Everyone! It’s Maryám here and it’s time to share my last layout of this month, in this blog (because you can see more projects on my blog).

Today is Art Studio’s day and for me that means watercolors, gesso and paints!

When I started this project I thought in the exclusive stars paper that comes in our kit, so I knew that it will be a good idea to use stars.

I drew some stars with my watercolors. After that, I’ve cut the stars, and I’ve added them to my page.

Here’s my final page. I love how it turned out!

More details:

Here is the completed process video of this layout. I hope you like it!

Thanks for watching! see you soon ❤CK_DT1516_Siggies-_Maryam

Yearbook: Documenting Current Life

blog-image_yearbook

Hello everybody! Caroli here with another project using September’s kit Moon Child.

moon child

When I first saw this kit the floral sheet of paper by Kaisercraft it really caught my eye, love its  colors and feminine look. Also, I thought it was perfect for fussy cutting, and considering this is my fave technique ever, this inmediately became my favorite paper from the kit.

I made this layout for documenting an important fact: me getting back to work after almost 10 months of maternity leave.  It’s been a smooth transition to this new life as a working mom now with two kids, I have great coworkers and a awesome boss, who have made easy my return to the office. Of course I miss my kids a lot, but it’s not been as hard as I thought it would be, so I wanted to document this happy moment and my feelings.
As I said, I love these flowers and liked the idea of overlapping some of them using foam dots.

The Thickers included in the kit are so cool and great for titles, in combination with the chipboard alpha by Fancy Pants, love the effect of these two together.

These cute butterflies by Pretty Little Studio go so well with the flowers, I used few to embellish my page.

And here’s the full project. I love the clean and delicate look of this layout, the colors in this kit are so beautiful!

I hope you like this idea, I had a lot of fun this month playing with Moon Child kit and enjoy sharing my project with you, see you around!

Geeklab: Photos with Volume

geeklab

Hello everyone, how are you today? Caroli here again and today I want to show you this layout I made with lots of circles and volume.

If you know me you will know I love circles and volume, I use a lot of 3d embellies and foam dots on my pages, but why limit volume to embellishments and paper? This time I also want to add volume to my photo.

I will start by printing the pic I want to use twice, and also use my good old circle punches.

cliquekits_septemberkit_moonchild_carolischulz

Then I will cut the focus of my photo as a circle and cut little circles of the rest of it, making sure they overlay in some parts of the main photo, this is very impoprtant to achieve the effect of volume of the photo. Finally, I will use some foam dots to stick the circles and will work on my layout.

This is how my project came out, I love the bubble-like look. Also the colors of this kit are perfect for my baby boy photos, don’t you think he is a cutie pie?  🙂 ❤

I hope you like this idea, it’s so simple but the result is pretty and fun. Thanks for stopping by and see you soon on another post this month!

Yearbook: Fave Shoes

blog-image_yearbook

Hello! Caroli here and I’m so glad of posting for the first time this month using the beautiful kit Moon Child.

moon child

Today I want to show you this project I made for documenting something very simple: the pretty shoes of my baby boy! I love the idea of documenting simple facts like this, because otherwise we probably will forget about them in future. Making a layout about something cute and not important at all like a pair of baby shoes seems perfect to me 🙂

When I was pregnant I discovered mocs style shoes and I love them. They are cute and have a lot of benefits for babies, so I got my boy a pair of them and this is what I am documenting here.

As you can see, I used a grid design and some instax pics, it’s such a simple composition but I like how it came out. The colors of this kit are really pretty, all soft but with a touch of bold.

cliquekits_moonchild_carolischulz

I love cacti and as soon as I saw this one in one of Kesi Art papers I knew I wanted to cut it and use it as embellishment in my page.

cliquekits_moonchild_carolischulz2

I also cut some feathers from Kaiser Kraft patterned paper and used them to embellish this  card with a dream catcher, I think they look even prettier with the extra feathers, not to mention the puffy dots by Fancy Pants, how cute are they!

cliquekits_moonchild_carolischulz3
Something I really loved of this kit are the Thickers by Dear Lizzy and those chipboard alphas by Fancy Pants. Love the combination of hand-brushed words and block printing for my title.

cliquekits_moonchild_carolischulz4

I am so happy with this layout, now my boy will be able to see how cool he looked when he was 6 months old rocking his cute mocs shoes 🙂 This is what I love about scrapbooking, the possibility of turning something ordinary into an extraordinary memory.

Have a lovely day!

Study Hall: Hello Adventure

study-hall

Hi there,

It’s my second to last post for Clique Kits and I wanted to try something new with this beautiful September Kit.  (I’m not sure how they always pull together the most fantastic kit every single time btw.)

So instead of a scrapping about a picture of something that was meaningful to me, I wanted to write about something that was meaningful in a scrapbook layout.  What I felt, emotionally and physically when I took this screenshot last winter!  I mean who wouldn’t take a screenshot if the temperature outside is -24?!?!

I just wanted a monochromatic layout with just blues, blacks and white; a chilled out version of a night scheme.

Starting with an 8 x 12 starry night background I placed it on the woodgrain full page.  Then adding strips of varring widths of paper, I layered on top of those. Using a few of those exclusive project life cards and Pretty Little Studio words along the way, it helped  round out the color scheme I was going for.

I couldn’t resist adding 4 full rows of Fancy Pants Designs Dot stickers.  It just added so much detail with very little work on my part.  ;0)

There is one paper in the grouping that had sentiments written by Kaiser Craft but I chose instead to line those strips with the accents seen between the words and not the words themselves. Just another element of layering I can’t hold back from.

I’ve been also trying to hold back and not use this Acrylic ‘Hello Adventure’ just yet, but I couldn’t help myself.  I also added some black stars from my own stash as well.

With journaling to finish it off, and add that something I wanted from the beginning, I’d say I met my goal with trying something new!

Thanks Guys!

Art Studio: Capturing Life Today

Art Studio

Hi everyone. I have a fun, creative, mixed media layout to share with you using the September Moon Child kit. I’ve been playing with my stamps and spray mists. I saw this sketch on Creative Scrapper’s blog, I immediately wanted to give it a try. Especially since I had a 4×6 photo that I wanted to scrap, but didn’t know what design I wanted to use. Sometimes, it can be tricky scrapping a 4×6 photo onto an 8 1/2″x11″ layout.

Creative Scrappers - The Cut Shoppe August2016 297(1)

I used the arrow stamps by Precious Remembrance to create a fun background for my layout. Isn’t it fun. I love Teal! It’s my favorite color. Also, I had a few scraps left over from the exclusive paper from this month’s kit and decided to use them. Sometimes, when I love a certain paper, I have a hard time throwing away the scraps. So… I hoard them. Hey, there’s no shame in that. Right?!

DSC_1478

For fun, I added the big tag in the background that I had from my stash. And I used the polka dot paper that I had from my stash since Cooper is a Dalmatian with very few spots, I decided to add a few spots to the layout. I hand-cut the star and sentimental journaling from patterned paper.
