Sunday School: Trust your instincts

sunday-school

Happy Sunday all! Today, I am sharing my  very first Bible page. I LOVE seeing what others do with Bible pages and I’ve been wanting to give it a try for awhile now. For my page, I used several shades of acrylic paints and lots of stamps. I finally got the chance to pull out my butterflies and floral stamps.

I used a good amount of stickers and die cuts on my pages too. And stencils. Seriously, I had such a great time altering this page and tag.

What do you think? Think you’re ready to give it a try. I plan on doing several pages using inspirational quotes that I’ve found on Pinterest.

Thanks for visiting today!

Making plans

clique-agenda

Hello all. Nicole here sharing a planner page I created  for December using the November “Swan Lake” kit. I love the exclusive flair and journaling cards that came in this month’s kit. They really compliment the kit nicely. We even included a unicorn flair. SO cool! For my planner page, I used my square punch to punch a few squares from the journaling cards, cut-apaarts and die cuts and adhered them to the planner. I also used some stamps and transparency die cuts. I really like the variety of embellishments in this month’s kit.

January Student of the Month – Bernii Miller

student of the month

Hello there Clique kits fans, Bernii here with you today to share with you my very first layout that I have created with this month’s Alegria kit as a guest designer.

berni

I am so in love with this kit and as soon as it arrived on my door step here down under I instantly started planning out what pages I wanted to create. So today I actually have two layouts to share with you. The first one was based on the 6 x 6 ” Happy Place” paper pad that I grabbed as an add on from the shop. I simply pulled out the papers that I loved and cut them down to 3×3  squares.

Before adding my watercolour to the back ground I made sure that I brushed those areas with clear gesso so that the cardstock would not buckle and bend. It also helps the black fine line pen to adhere and write better over the watercolour which can tend to be a little glossy.

I just had to add in this exclusive flair to the layout somewhere. It is one of the cutest little foxes I have seen about.

Here is my second layout I also managed to make on the same day with the same kit, although this time i used the Putty My Colours cardstock that I also purchased as an add on from the store. You can find it HERE. To prep this page also I used clear gesso in a thin layer as I knew I wanted to create a mixed media background.

I based this layout on the Hero Arts arrow stencil that I used modelling paste with smack bang in the middle of the layout. I wanted this to act as an anchor point / photo mat for the little 2 x 3 photos that I wanted to use. I then went around the stencil with yellow thread and sprayed over some yellow color mist.

Here is  a closer look at how I created that centre stencil.

Playing with gesso

artstudioheader

Hi everybody. Hope all is well. I have been really excited to share this layout with you! It was my first time playing with gesso and I can’t wait to play with it again. Before I started this layout, I decided that I wanted to include a book page so I rummaged through my old books to find one that I could rip. I used some gel medium to hold down my note paper. This stuff works great for adhering papers and ephemera to your layouts. Once I had my papers adhered, I grabbed my fun circle template that I bought from the CK store and some whipped spackled to play with. I’ve never played with whipped spackle, but love what I’ve seen scrappers do with it. It was really easy to use. Simply grab a metal spatula and whipped spackled and apply it to the template.

Once you’ve covered the entire template, carefully lift the template and wash it off with cold water. The gesso didn’t take too long to dry. In fact, I think it dried in a hour. While the gesso was drying, I printed my photos, stamped a few images onto the layout and punched out a few circles to use on my layout. I used the paint dabber to add a bit of pink around the edges of my layout.

Guest Designer: Kate Kennedy

student-of-the-month

Hey y’all, my name is Kate Kennedy (kraftinkate to the youtubers) and I am so excited to be the May Guest Designer for Clique Kits. When I received my kit back in March, I was stoked to see all the Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine. The papers are so fun and colorful and just what I needed to jump start my excitement for the upcoming summer months.

This is the first layout I made with the kit and I have to say I had a bit of a hard time cutting into the awesome papers. So, I pushed them aside, and pulled out that awesome pineapple stamp that is available in the store. I had visions of gold embossed pineapples as background so I set forth creating one. I embossed several pineapples with gold detail embossing powder then fussy cut them all out. Now, I am Not a fan of the fussy cut … at all, and although it looks like it might be tedious to cut, it really didn’t take long at all.

Once I had them all arranged the rest of the layout pretty much fell in place. I added some layers behind my photo and a few of the epoxy embellishments and really let the pineapples be the main embellishments. The photo is of a plaque in our pool that I thought was really neat. Can you tell I am super pumped for summer? 🙂

Here are some photos of the layout and be sure to check out the process video below for more details.
