ck-field-notes-traveler-notes-header

Hello! Here Réka is today with you, and I have traveler’s notebook spreads to share, featuring the gorgeous ‘POOL PARTY’ Traveler’s Notebook Kit!

ck-jun17-tnkit2_4_orig

When I got my Kit I thought a lot how to use the insert, maybe to organize my days as a planner or to write my favorite recipe on it but finally I have decided that I will be document our summer stories.

1-1

The ‘Fun in the sun’ cute file is perfect for every summer stories so I have cut it out of the pink paper with arrows pattern from Pretty Little Studio: Ain’t Life Grand – 4 x 6 Paper collection and adhered them onto my page. After I have used my favorite pink thread and I have embroidered them around. When you use a thin paper for the embroidery base like this you need to be careful, don’t let the paper tear and if you don’t push hard the needle, you can get lazier stitch as me now and yes, I really love it.

3

Next, the flowers, which were fussy cut out of a Pretty Little Studio: Ain’t Life Grand – 4 x 6 flowers pattern Paper and I have made some clusters on my pages. I love these flowers and every piece is hoard.

Some mists, words, the gorgeous pink camera ephemera and the cute ‘Ice cream’ clip went on my spread. You can find more clips in the shop here and remember you can use the code SHOP to get 30% off your total purchase.

This page is the summary page so I have printed the title of the first story on the vellum paper and adhered on it. I will fill in the blank page continuously with the next stories` titles which we will be collecting this summer.

Now, let’s see the next page.

4-4

For the left side I added my photo which was layered some paper and on the other side I have used the Hello card from the Pretty Little Studio: Ain’t Life Grand – 3 x 4 Cards collection. I have also used some beautiful flowers and the words stickers and the always title, which arrived with the kit.

5

Behind the Hello card I have put one tag from the June printable collection and I have written the funny story on it. I have attached with a white thread and made a little bow from it. Some mists and some enamels were the finishing touches to complete my spread.

I hope you enjoy my traveler’s notebook spreads and collect the summer stories. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful crafty day! Réka

Locker Room – Delightful Magnolia Tree

blog-image_locker-room1

Hello! Here is Réka and today I’m sharing with you how I use the cut file as the stitching pattern. For this 8.5 X 11” layout I’ve chosen one illustration from the May Kit excusive cut files which designed by Maryám. I really love these cute houses and these fit my photo perfectly.

ck-may17-cuts-web_2_orig

Firstly I’ve printed the house background, then punched the paper and finally sewed it with white thread.

2

My first thought was to stitch the whole paper but in the end I’ve decided to embroider only around and some places where I knew that the photo did not cover the paper. With this I’ve saved a little time. Two hearts were stitched with pink thread because pink is one of the main color of my layout beside blue and grey.

After I’ve finished the sewing I’ve splashed a little with pink paint.

Decorating was coming! The photo has been glued to the cardstock with 3D glue. I ’ve added two strips on the top and on the botton part of my layout. The pink one was painted with watercolor and the other one was cut from the Pinkfresh Studio Fancy paper. I’ve sewed them with my sewing machine on the paper. After I ’ve made two clusters for the photo’s left and right corner which I’ve used the beautiful embellishments from May Main Kit. When I saw the Delightful label in the kit I knew I would use it for my Magnolia Tree’s photo. On my page I’ve also used the cute bird because we wake up to bird-songl. The Magnolia Tree and data labels were edited in the Microsotf word and then printed. Let’s see the page.

The stitching is a very good solution when you haven’t got the cutting machinee but you really like using the cut files on your page. Beside the stitching is always so interesting because you will see the result only you finished it.

Hopefully, I managed to inspire you to stitching on your page. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful crafty day!

See you next time. Réka

Geek Lab | You Go Girl

Hello everyone!

I hope you all have been enjoying all the beautiful projects the DT has created this month with the beautiful “Jellybean” kit.   It does not only contain beautiful papers and embellishments, but also exclusive printables and  beautiful cut files!

ck-apr17-cuts-web_2_orig

For this layout, I wanted to use the  large phrase title cut file  as the main focus in the page,  so I chose to convert it into a large stand out title.  Here are the picture steps I followed on the Silhouette Software to create this title:

CK. Nathalie DeSousa. April 2017. Capture 1 -You Go Girl.

Here is the image ready to be cut.  DO NOT close the program or image after cutting it!

CK. Nathalie DeSousa. April 2017. Capture 2 -You Go Girl.

Using the offset  command, add an external offset to this image ( i have colored the original image, so you can see how the function works).  You can chose the size of the offset.

Separate the images, just click on the edges of the original image, and move it out of the picture.  Now the offset is ready to be cut.

To make the title stand out, i added a small white border around the title (the offset).  The title was cut from the beautiful Bella Bld.’s “Magnifique” paper  -though the flowers are gorgeous, I was drawn to the colors and paint brush marks on the image-.  I made sure to cut the title from the center of the Magnifique page.

Once the cuts were glued together,  the edge of the title was pierced to add some stitching and texture to it.  After adding hand stitching to the title,  I set out to construct the page.   First,  i trimmed about 0.5in from two of the edges of a light pink card stock.  Then I used watercolors and inks to add some color to the background.

Once the background dried,  the title was attached to the page, making sure it sit right in the middle of the large watercolor background.  The picture of  my niece holding her art TN (she loves TNs as much as I do!) was placed above the title.  I used the exclusive printables, and ephemera included in the Jellybean kit, as well as the puffy stickers from the Make Your Mark collection that are available in the Clique store, to frame the picture.

To finish the page, using the sewing machine, I stitched the  layout to the left over piece of the “Magnifique” paper, making sure to leave two opposite corners free .  These were folded into the layout to be used as part of the clusters formed here. I tried to use these corners to bring some of the colorful accents and embellishments from the Jellybean kit.  Here is the final layout:

Don’t the colors and title work just pop  out of this page?  Though I love the roses, I wanted to take a different approach when using the Make Your Mark  “Magnifique” from the Jellybean kit in this layout.   I am so pleased with the end result, and i hope it inspires you to create stand out titles for your project.

Don’t forget to check Clique Kits to register for a subscription (there are just some spots available) for their gorgeous kits, or sign up for their newer Traveler’s Notebook kit.  You will love them!

I am always a comment away if you have any questions on how this came together.

Thanks for stopping by, today!
