Guest Contributor – Angie Pond

Happy Monday everyone!!  We have been so thankful this month to have our April Guest Contributor Angie Pond sharing so much inspiration with us!  Today I have another layout Angie created using the April kit!  Make sure to follow Angie on her blog to see more of her fabulous work!  Now lets get into her layout using the April kit and the fabulous printables designed by Creative Director Gia Lau!

For the April challenge, I drew inspiration from the different blocks of paper that are shown in the sketch. I used many of the beautiful papers from the Jelly Bean kit and treated each block of patterned paper almost like it’s own little layout.
I used one of the exclusive cut files under my photo. I cut it on white card stock and painted it with watercolors. Then I simply cut it apart and used it as an additional layer under the cute photo of my nephew on his first Easter.
Most of the embellishments on my layout are from the printable files that come with the kit each month. I adore that cute bunny and I even used the “Happy Easter” printable as my title.
The flags in the upper left block of my layout are from the printables as well and they make a great addition along with my journaling.
In the section where my title is, I hand cut a few clouds and used that printable doily shape almost like a sun. The pink cloud comes from one of the Bella Blvd. clips that came in the kit. I simply cut the clip part off and adhered it to my layout.
I did some stamping on the block with the pink polka dots. I used just some black ink and a circle outline stamp to add some more interest to the paper. I pair the word labels and the circles from the exclusive printables with a few enamel dots from the kit to complete that section of the layout.
Thank you Angie for another awesome project using the April 2017 Kit!!   I love all the details in your page and love how you used the exclusives!!  Here is a look at Angie’s completed layout!
Thank you all so much for stopping by today!  Please remember to leave Angie some love down below!  We still have a few April kits left in the shop right now and we also have a great kit sale going on!!  Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful Girls – Guest Contributor Sherry Coogan

Blog Image_Prom Committee

Hello and happy Thursday everyone!  Erica here with you this morning to bring you another fabulous Clique Kits Guest Contributor!  Please help me welcome Sherry Coogan!  She will be creating with the February Bee You kit and sharing tons of inspiration with you!  Sherry also joined us in a little Q&A so you can get to know her a little better!

ck_coordt_headshots-1617_v-copy-16

What is your Favorite tool? Cutter Bee Scissors, Sewing Machine,

Who is your favorite designer/paper company?  Crate Paper

Where do you find inspiration?  Challenges – They are a great jumping point for creativity. I usually have the TV on while scrapping but can’t watch anything that demands my attention.

When you scrap do you listen to music, watch tv or need complete quiet? I usually have the TV on while scrapping but can’t watch anything that demands my attention.

How long have you been scrapping and what is one thing you love about it? Since 2001. One thing I love about it: The creative path it led me down and the connection with like-minded people around the world.

Sherry thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself with us today!  Now lets get to Sherry’s first project using the February Bee You kit!  Grab your coffee, tea, soda or water and get ready to be inspired!

Hello, friends! Sherry here and I’m thrilled to be a guest designer this month! My layout started with a sweet photo of my daughter and her friend, dressed up for a school dance. The pink, black, and white color combination of the gorgeous Hazelwood floral papers were the perfect match for the photo.

beautiful girls.png

Although I adore the over-sized floral paper, I knew it would overpower my layout. I fussy cut several of the flowers and added french knots to add dimension and a pop of black.

img_3502

To mat the photo I mixed a couple of pieces from the cut apart sheet of patterned paper.

img_3503

I needed smaller scale leaves on the perimeter of the layout, so I fussy cut a few from the cut apart sheet. img_3510

For the title, I used a stamp from my stash and the gorgeous Thickers that came in the kit.

img_3532

To pull some soft pink to the top of the layout, I machine-stitched around the edge and layered some ephemera for the cluster at the top.

I’ve loved working with this beautiful kit! Thanks for joining us on the blog today!

Hey everyone, Tiffani here with another layout made with the Hello Sugar January Kit.
ck_jan17_kit
Mixed media supplies are by far my favorite to work with. You have so many options on creating backgrounds and your own personal touches. For this layout I started with white watercolor paper. I prepped my page with gesso and then once that dried I used Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. To blend I used water and my fingers. On top of that I decided to do a brick wall using Rangers Texture Paste.
20170114_081502
I love all the papers in this months kit. These are 3 of my favorite patterns. I love the torn paper look so I added that to one of the edges of each paper. The pictures I chose for this layout are of my 2 closest friends. They have been there for me through some of the hardest moments in my past year.
20170114_081550
I adore all of the embellishments in this months kit. The vinyl stickers and thickers work so well together. I added some twine to the little xoxo tag and added 3 hearts to signify each one of ours.

Happy Tuesday everyone!!  Erica here to bring you our January Guest Contributor Tiffani Keronen!  Tiffani will be sharing with us all month long with the Janaury kit so stay tuned!  Today she is sharing her first project and she included one of the great cut files on her layout!  So without further delay…Say Hello to Tiffany!!
ck_coordt_headshots-1617_v-copy-18

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I cannot believe we are already in 2017. I can’t think of a better way for me to bring it in, than with a layout using the Clique Kits, January kit, Hey Sugar. I have been away from scrapping to deal with personal things, but I’m so happy to be back doing what I love most, documenting beautiful memories to share with my children for years to come.

For this layout I first decided on a cut file. I love my Silhouette and I think cut files just add such a fun element. This year I am making my year to celebrate everything, no matter how big or small. To add some color, I blotted my paintbrush over the cut file, with Heidi Swapp mint metallic texture paste.
20170101_113129
The papers in this kit are so much fun. I love stripes, polka dots and everything hearts. I decided to go with four patterns and I  cut them into 3/4 inch strips.  I love the look of the different lengths.

My three-year-old daughter Symphony has the most infectious smile and truly celebrates every small victory at this age. Embellishments from this kit just fit the fun smile on her face. I used some of the gold hearts from the Heart Day by Crate Paper as well as the ribbon and to happy day embellishment. The gold doilies are from my own personal stash and I added those to bring out the gold hearts.
20170101_113248
It wouldn’t be a layout by me if there wasn’t any ink splatter. I always find that when you feel like you’re missing something, throwing some ink on your layout brings out that little pop.
20170101_113043
I hope you enjoyed my layout and I look forward to sharing more with you this month.

Guest Contributor – Jill Keller

Blog Image_Prom Committee

Hey Guys!  Jill Keller with you today and I am so happy to be doing a guest spot with Clique Kits this month, special thanks to everyone on the CK team for having me!

My first creation is a 12×12 layout using the gorgeous papers and exclusive pocket page cards from Clique Kits.  One of my favorite things about the monthly kits are the exclusives, and the December kit is packed with tons of amazing pieces!  I used two of the cards to mat my 4×4 photo.

heygirl4

Adore those page tabs by CK, so I added a couple of them to my photo layers.  I also stitched the acetate piece straight on my photo, and added a second acetate piece below my photo as another layer.

heygirl3

For the layout background I cut a large piece of those gorgeous butterflies and adhered it to white cardstock, then used silver thread to sew it near the paper seams.  The contrast between the dark blue/black patterned paper and the white is so striking, and it really makes that beautiful pink pop!

heygirl1

Word stickers are a favorite embellishment and the exclusives in this month’s kits are fabulous!  They make the perfect accent for my layout.

heygirl2

After scattering the word stickers down the page I added my title and stitched through it, also adding a flair badge on a silver thread nest as part of the title.

heygirl-ck-layout

I used black and white inks to finish the layout.  There are so many fun colors in the December kits but I focused on black, white, pink and blue on this page, making this baby photo of my girl really stand out.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Clique Kits blog today!

Hello everyone and Happy Tuesday!  Today I am here to introduce you to our December Design Contributor Jill Keller!  Jill will be sharing this month using the December 2016 kit bringing you tons of inspritation!  Jill is a full time mommy and we are sure you have seen her work from places like Pretty Little Studio, The Cut Shoppe and Gossamer Blue!  Her work will inspire you and we can not wait to share what she is doing with the December kit!  But until then we will get to know Jill a little bit and also have a look at what she created with her October Clique Kit!

ck_coordt_headshots-1617_v-copy-13

First how about we get to know a little bit about Jill!  She has taken the time to answer a few fun questions for us!

What is your favorite tool?

Definitely my Silhouette! But I have a deep love for my little piercing tool when I do hand-stitching.

Who is your favorite designer/paper company?

There are so many talented designers and paper companies! I adore PinkFresh Studios and Fancy Pants Designs right now, I can always use their products on a page.

Where do you find inspiration?

I look to my peers! I follow a ton of great scrappers on Instagram and I also follow all the kit clubs, so definitely Instagram for inspiration.

When you scrap do you listen to music, watch tv or need complete quiet?

Does listening to my 4 yr old talk count? hahaha! My kiddo talks non-stop! She has a tiny table in my craft room and is in there with my while I create. Otherwise, silence. Sometimes I’ll pull up something from iTunes but that’s rare.

How long have you been scrapping and one thing you love about it?

I started scrapping years ago, but didn’t get into it seriously until after my wedding in 2008. I started being active online sharing my work about 5 years ago.  1 Thing I love: the process of creating. I wish I were one of those scrappers who is about preserving memories and sharing the story, but it’s truly about making stuff for me. I love looking at products and seeing how they can be put together and then finding a photo that fits the creation. Yes, I am a backwards scrapper, haha!

Jill thank you so much for shaing a little bit about your love for this craft with us!  For even more about Jill and more projects and inspriation please head on over to her blog HERE!  Jill has also been busy creating with the October Clique Kit that is avaiable now in the Clique Kits shop HERE.  Here are some of her beautiful projects!

June Guest Designer – Janet Zeppa

student of the month

Hi everyone! I’m Janet and I have to say that I am so excited to be a guest designer for Clique Kits.

12105912_440401799477994_2393210834515849089_n

I have been a Clique Kit subscriber for over a year now and I am always thrilled to get my “pizza box” full of amazing goodies every month! I love to make 12 x 12 layouts and cards.

For my base I used the gorgeous pink ombre paper from Elle’s Studio and backed it with some black and then white cardstock. On top of the ombre paper I used the gorgeous floral background cut file for June created by JustNick.

I backed my photo with layers of some of the 6X6 papers included in the kit. I used one of the exclusive journaling cards as a place to feature my title created with one of the gorgeous PinkFresh Studio foam words. A couple of embellishment clusters with some scattered sequins and my layout was complete!

Here are a couple of closeups for you.

May Guest Designer – Meredith Turner

student of the month

Hello! I’m Meredith, and I’m so excited to be a Guest Designer for Clique Kits this month!  I’m usually a Project Life scrapbooker, but after moving a few months ago I’ve gotten really behind.  So instead of using this kit for my weekly spreads, I thought I would use it for a special mini album of a trip I recently took with my sister to Boston.

For the base, I started with the grey corrugated paper from the Northern Lights – May 2016 kit. I cut the 12×12 sheet almost in half to 6.5 x 12, so that the ridges were running up and down (vs. left to right- this is really just a personal preference) and folded it in half.

IMG_5059

When we were on the trip we tagged all of the images we posted to Facebook/Instagram with #MorganAndMeredithInBoston so I thought it was a fitting title, using the Fancy Pants alpha stickers and tags from the kit.  I love these striped stickers! I attached the tags to the cover using my mini stapler.

IMG_5061

For the pages, I cut up different 12×12 sheets from the kit into 6×6 pieces. I picked some of my favourites (which was pretty much every paper in the kit) and tried to use both the front and the back to co-ordinate with the images.  The colours and sayings on these papers were perfect for a girls weekend!

IMG_5062

The ‘breathe it all in’ was originally a 4×6 card, but I fussy-cut it with scissors to fit better on the page.  Boston was beautiful, and we definitely spent some time just breathing it all in!

146361931451321s

How gorgeous are the papers in this kit?? The colours, the patterns… I can’t get enough.  I couldn’t bring myself to cover up the beautiful colours on the left so I left it as an accent page.

IMG_5064

And for some pages, all it needed was a selfie!  I love the ‘me’ flair- perfect for any selfie!

146361931451321IMG_5068

One of my favourite parts of Boston was visiting the Mapparium.  You’re not supposed to take pictures inside, but I am obsessed with all things map so I may have broken that rule a bit… It resulted in a terrible quality selfie, but I love the picture too much to leave it out!

IMG_5067

I tried not to repeat the papers too many times, so that I could still use them in future projects.

146361931451321j

Being from Canada, of course we hit up a Blue Jays vs. Red Sox game- actually, that was the whole point of the trip.  The Girls Night Out card was perfect for a drink before the game!

IMG_5060

I wanted to add a little something on the back, so I used one of the flair pieces to act as a bit of a latch to keep the album closed (it’s a bit bulky with all of the pages and embellishments).  To keep the pages together, I placed them all neatly inside the cover and stapled it together with some blue staples to make it pop. Be sure to keep this in mind when you are making the pages (I found it easier to put the pages together before binding) so you don’t put images too close to the inside edge, since they would end up being covered.

I absolutely love how the album turned out! Thank you so much to Clique Kits for letting me be a Guest Designer this month.

Student of the Month – Hannah Lemieux

12189651_440401792811328_2674136232689851612_n

Aloha!! This is Hannah here and I am so excited to be one of the Guest Designers for March!! The “Hell Yeah “ Kit is so much fun to play with. I am loving all the black and white with pops of colors. For the layout I made I decided to go with that concept. Since I love making my backgrounds unique I took one of the Pattern papers and altered it. Yes, i know that sounds kinda scary, right?! I picked the Seven Paper Goldie paper002, which has Amazing black doodled stripes. Now I messed up there definitely was no going back. I broke out my watercolors and started painting more stripes. The Inspiration I had for my background was a shirt I recently bought that was a black and white plaid. I love the the stripes on my plaid shirt are different widths. On my background I played with this thought of making some of the lines wider. Since I had already picked out my papers, I went with twisted citrus in distress ink (watered down to look like watercolor) and some hot pink Heidi Swapp Color Shine for some of the other stripes on the background. I splattered the access of my paint brush in a couple of spots too.

IMG_0628

I love how it turned out, even though it isn’t perfect. I find that is the key to homemade backgrounds. Embracing the imperfect!! The imperfections often adds to it’s uniqueness.
Now it was time to build the rest of my layout. I knew that I wanted to use three 3×4 size photos that I took recently during a unexpected trip back to visit my family. I took some nature shots of things we definitely don’t see much of in Hawaii, like sumac and birch tress. I knew I wanted to create this layout so my kids could see a little of what I used to see growing up but is so foreign to them.
IMG_5398
Because my background was so busy I tried to pick just a few papers that were mostly black and white with pops of colors that were either in my photos or in the background paper I created.
IMG_5396
I layered some of the exclusive die cuts pieces made by Pink Fresh Studios in a few areas to draw your eye around my photos. The wash tape also added a nice layer without being to much because you can kinda see through it.
IMG_0627 IMG_5395
For my title I used one of the pocket page cards from the Paper add by Photo play. The word Wonderful just looked so pretty. I couldn’t help but use it on my layout. I added the word Nature in the Red alphas by Studio Calico. I love these alphas, they are just the perfect size for titles. I only wish they had more of each color.
IMG_5391
For my journaling, I waned to do something a little different. Plus with this busy background there wasn’t a lot of space on the main part of the layout to see what I wanted to write. I cut a little off the the sides of the layout and added the patterned paper on plain white card stock. This gave me a little edge around the layout for journaling.
IMG_0629 IMG_5399
I think it turned out really cool and adds something different to my layout.
Here is a look at the full layout completed.
IMG_5390
Thanks for joining us today!! I hope you were inspired!! Don’t forget to come back and see what the other designers are doing with their March “Hell Yeah” kits too.
Aloha, Hannah
