Locker Room – mini album tutorial

Hello everyone! Today I have for you a step by step tutorial. You will see how I made lovely mini album with photos of me and my boyfriend (perfect for Valentine’s Day!) When I first saw February “Hot Mess” Kit, I knew that I have to make a mini! There are sooo many cut outs, tags, journaling cards to use, that I didn’t hesitate. Also, I reeeaaaally like Maggie Holmes paper with the calendar, perfect to include it in the mini too!

OK, let’s start 🙂 Here are the things I used to make the mini.

DSC_3217

First of all, I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist and an ink to make some splashes on some cards.

Then it’s time to have fun! Before decorating, remember to PUNCH cards. I really often forget about it and when the page is done, it turns out that some embellies or dots or even a photo is placed where the whole should be.

The mini is really simple. There aren’t many embellishments but still it is full of goodies 🙂

If photos are in color I often try to take 2-3 colors from them and decorate photos in those colors to make the page more consistent.

And this is how the whole album looks like! Hope you like it 🙂 Tell me in comments what you think! (This is a .gif file and it might take a while to start working)

Geek Lab – February Printables

Hello! 🙂 It’s Justt here today. Recently I’ve discovered that most of the photos on my layouts are from my Instagram. I also often take hashtags to make a title on the layout. It was the same this time! Layout is called ‘behind the scenes’, just like on the Instagram. You can see some of the printables from February kit there also. I love how they vary! You can choose from black&white to more delicate ones, everyone will find something perfect!

Art Studio – canvas with positive meaning

Hello! It’s Justt here today to show you a canvas with positive words – do more of what makes you happy! I already have a poster with that sentence and I must say that I love it! I do love this canvas too!

The main problem with decorating this was that.. I didn’t have any masks, stencils.. I forgot to take them home from my flat (I have a winter break at my university right now). I decided that I’ll stick some stripes of paper to imitate a mask.

DSC_3202

And of course – I did what I always do with the mist – I put it on a piece of plastic, added some water and pressed it to the canvas.

DSC_3204

Later I splashed it with some more mist which you can find in February Kit.

And this is how it looks like 🙂 I wanted it to be colorful and optimistic.

What do you think? 🙂

To make this canvas I used February “Hot Mess” kit.

Hugs!

How to Scrapbook Extra Photos

Blog Image_YearbookHi everyone its Melissa here and I’m back today some pocket pages made with the gorgeous Hot Mess kit! But before I share my project, I would like to remind you that there’s still time to participate in Clique Kits and Bella Blvd’s hop. Be sure to leave a comment on the blogs so you don’t miss out on a chance of winning an XOXO kit of your own. Click here to participate in the hop! This time last year we went to the next Lake to the north called Wanaka for three day mini holiday.  We live in a very busy tourist alpine resort, and it was great to escape to a quieter lake.  I’ve scrapped lots of 12 x 12 traditional pages about this holiday, but still had several photos left over which weren’t special enough to justify their own page.

Wanaka1The Maggie Holmes Shine collection was perfect for scrapping these photos, especially the ones taken at the Transport and Toy Museum. This next page is the back of the first page, and the next two pages are about the museum.Wanaka22Our oldest son loves Star Wars and was so excited to see old toys!  The cut apart sheet sentiments and “Rad” flair badge explained his delight!Wanaka3I made my own journaling cards with white cardstock, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine, stamps by Honey Bee Stamps and some of the exclusive printable banners.  I love how they turned out!Wanaka7This exclusive card was a fantastic spot for more journaling.  I just added a heart sticker to cover the staple from attaching the acetate piece on the reverse.Wanaka5The vintage images in the Shine ephemera were perfect for documenting the now retro toys, and I used the shadow box for my little card.Wanaka4Its always a perfect day when you get to sit in a Starfighter!Wanaka9I hope you enjoyed a look into how I scrap my extra photos!  These pages will go into our family album, and our family will love to look back on them in the years to come.

Thanks so much for looking 🙂

Playing with Printables

geeklab

Hi everyone, its Melissa and I’m so happy to be back again with you this month!  I’m super excited about our gorgeous February Kit “Hot Mess”!   I just adore everything Maggie Holmes makes, and I love that we have amazing CK exclusives to play with too!

Speaking of CK exclusives, today I’m sharing a layout that features the stunning printables that you can download free if you’re a subscriber (and purchase in the Digital Store if you’re not).  We get two sheets of printables, and this is the sheet I choose to play with:CK_FEB16_Printables2

Usually I print off the circles, punch them with my circle punch and put a clear epoxy sticker on them.  For this layout I decided to print the following three large.Sparkle collageAren’t they stunning, far to pretty to be kept small!  Here they are printed off a different sizes.  I just copied the individual PNG files over to Word, and resized them to what I needed.  I also cut some of the beautiful  Just Nick cut files from the kit on my Silhouette Cameo too.Sparkle prep1Then I cut the circles out by hand with my scissors, because I wanted this post to be about printables, not my Cameo 🙂Sparkle Prep2Here they are, all good to go!  Oh so pretty!!!Sparkle Prep3Now the fun bit!  Ever had a layout design that kept you awake at night (not in a bad way, but because you’re designing in your head)?  Well this is one of those layouts.  Not all my layouts come together easily, sometimes I’ll have an initial vision for what I want, and then I have to physically play with the photo, paper and embellishments until it comes together – hence I didn’t video this one, because it took forever – well not really, I’m being dramatic 😉Sparkle1I knew I wanted the title to be “Sparkle + Shine”, so I started with that.  I really needed a complimentary photo that showed sparkle, so this photo of my little one when she was 10 months old was perfect!  I popped the title circle up on foam to make it stand out.  I sprinkled some of the Heidi Swapp Colour Shine that came in the kit (I got Hot Pink).Sparkle2Once I had the main large printable circles in position I cut some smaller circles with my Cuttlebug and a Sizzix die.  It cuts 5 different sizes at once.  I thought the bow and diamond papers from the 6×6 paper pad (kit add on) were perfect for this girly layout!Sparkle3Next was my favourite step of embellishing, using flair, die cuts, stickers and embellishments.  So much fun!  Sparkle6I embellished this printable circle with the banner cut file (I backed it with 6×6 papers), a die cut, and word sticker.Sparkle5The rest of the printable circle from above was used on the bottom of my layout.  I often add liquid adhesive to my chipboard to ensure they don’t move.  If you’re running low on adhesive make sure you check out the CK store here.Sparkle8Thanks so much for looking!  I hope I’ve inspired you to think outside of the box when you use your CK printables.  I made a page with last month’s kit where I enlarged one of the word printables to use it as my title.  You can see it on my blog here – its the second layout.

Bless you 🙂
