Geek Lab- April Cut Files

This month’s cut files are super fun to work with!  I used both the floral, and the phrase files on my page below with the April kit, “Jellybean”.

I loved the lines of these flowers, so I wanted them to stand out. I didn’t back them with paper and cut them from white cardstock so that they would contrast against the colorful background.

The flow of the font of the sripty title goes perfectly with the floral cut file.

The background paper is a gorgeous periwinkle ombre print.  I added some white gesso and pink and seafoam mists which I smooshed on the gesso.

I used the Pink Paislee paper in the kit (paper #14) that has the overlapping circles and cut them out and folded them in half.  I was originally going to make a banner from them, but I decided on just leaving them like little clusters on the page.

I did very little embellishing, only adding a few gold foiled accents and some enamel dots.  I wanted the colors and the cut files to be the star of the page.

You can watch my process from start to finish here:

The Finishing Touch {Locker Room}

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hi friends,

Melissa here with you today and I’m sharing a couple cards using the awesome March Kit – Play. For this post, I’ve got a Cards with Melissa video for you. In this video, I’m taking two cards and showing you how to add the finishing touches with embellishments.

Specifically, I’m using the enamel dots and wood buttons that you can find, as add-ons, in the shop with the March kit.

hi2

Aren’t those buttons adorable?

For this first card, in the video, I’ll be showing you a card that I’ve already placed the papers, and even a couple of die cuts. But, it was missing something. I’ll show you the thought process to how I chose the buttons, and triangle enamel dots, and even get into the detail of why I chose to place them in the direction that I did.

loveyou2

For this second card, I’m showing you how simple embellishments, like the enamel dots and wood button, really do help ground and add that perfect finishing touch.

Are you ready for the video? Enjoy!

Here are the two cards in their full glory.

Thanks for joining me today!

Student Of the Month: Elisabetta Margini

student of the month

Happy Saturday Clique Kits fans!  Today we have our March Guest Designer Elisabetta with us today sharing some more projects she created with the March kit J’adore!  This is Elisabetta’s last post with us this month but you can check her out on her YouTube channel and her blog for more inspiration!

Hi everyone! Elisabetta here to share with you two layouts that I created using the March J’adore Kit.

IMG_1459Lately I’ve been loving using very large photos and I find it challenging to create a layout with those kind of pictures.

IMG_1463IMG_1467IMG_1462one thing that I like a lot about this page are the enamel dots. I wanted to change the colors a little bit so I used nail polish!!

IMG_1455IMG_1457IMG_1461IMG_1466  IMG_1464I have to say that I really like the end result 🙂

For the second layout that I’m gonna show you now, I’ll have a process video up on my YouTube Channel soon!!

IMG_1500I had so much fun making this layout with the March Kit!

IMG_1505IMG_1504 IMG_1503 IMG_1502 IMG_1501I still have plenty of layouts to show to you that I made with this amazing kit so don’t forget to check my blog and my Youtube Channel out!! and don’t forget to let me know what you think of these two layouts! 🙂
