Hello everyone! Donna here to share my first layout using the August kit, “Rio“, featuring Fancy Pants Designs Millie and June collection

ck-aug16-kit_4_orig

First, I want to share the watercolored background before I placed the embellishments and photo. It’s very simple but I liked how it turned out.

Donna-Espiritu--CKRio-layout01_watercolor1

I prepped the surface first with some gel medium. I drew some flowers, scattered them around. Then I with the same brush, I flicked some more watercolor in different colors.

Donna-Espiritu--CKRio-layout01_watercolor

This is how it turned out. I think it’s pretty lol but I surely need more practice

Donna-Espiritu--CKRio-layout01

I love the combination of colors in the Millie and June collection. I used the sequins to as center of the watercolor flowers

Donna-Espiritu--CKRio-layout01a

I also stamped some faded butterfly image using black ink. I purposely stamped it like that. I didn’t want to full, inked butterfly but just a subtle image

Donna-Espiritu--CKRio-layout01c

That little white and gold dotted bow is super cute

I hope you liked my page. Will be back in a few days to share my next page using this gorgeous kit.

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy crafting,

Geek Lab: Me

geeklab

Hello everyone. Nicole here with a fun layout. I am not sure if you’ve noticed, but I LOVE patterned paper. I love how you can get a semi-funky look by mixing different papers together. Sometimes, I don’t want my layout to look like everything coordinates perfectly. I like to mix it up a bit.

For this layout, I used a mixture of Fancy Pants Designs, Cocoa Vanilla and Clique Kit’s exclusive journaling cards! I love the sentiment of the journaling card from the July “Raskog” kit and decided to use it for this layout. The others journaling cards came with the Rio kit!

girl..._fancy pants designs_clique kits_layout_Cocoa Vanilla Studio

I used a few of the add-ons on this layout. I love the washi tape and enamel dots. I simply cannot get enough of them. I tied a piece of ribbon from my stash onto the clip and stapled the string from my tag onto the layout to prevent the string from moving around. For the photo, I used a photo editing program to create a collage of photos and then printed it out so I’d have a nice square sized photo for my project. I painted the veneer with the Don’t Citron Me Coloringz from Shimmerz Paints and sprayed some in the background of my layout. We have some Shimmerz Paints in the store! Click here to check out the add-ons and mixed media products we have in the store.

Scrapping Text Messages

blog-image_yearbook

Hi, all! It’s Aliza here again with another layout using the fabulous August kit. This layout shares the story of how it came to be that we bought one ticket for my son to see Hamilton.  The whole conversation and decision occurred through a series of text messages, so I included one of those texts in my layout. I love taking screen shots of text messages as a way to remember conversations. Sometimes  they are funny or sweet, they capture relationships, and they tell stories.

img_7140

I converted the screen shot to black and white so it would better fit with my color scheme.

adeutsch_august2016_Hamilton

Once all the papers and photos were laid out, I chose some embellishments. Some of the ephemera and stickers helped to tie the design of the page together by adding touches of pink, blue, black, and gold around the page.
IMG_6215

And some embellishments helped to support the story, like this gift tag.

IMG_6214

And, this might not be an exact quote, but I’m pretty sure he was thinking it.

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Locker Room: Hello

blog-image_locker-room

Hello friends! Leigh, here to share a Locker Room Layout and Process Video for my Hello layout.  I wanted to emphasize the papers in this kit for maximum impact. To do that I chose a white background and different patterns punched into leaf shapes.

LOdynskiAug2016HelloFull

Using a Fiskars palm frond punch, and papers from the 6×6 Millie And June Paper Pad by Fancy Pants Designs to draw your attention to the magenta flowers in the photo.

LOdynskiAug2016HelloLeft

By choosing the magenta pattern as the only solid color background patterned paper for the leaves, it kept the emphasis on that color in the photo. The rest of the fun patterns in the leaves play a supporting role and add interest.

LOdynskiAug2016Helloright

In this close up, you can see how I curled the edges of all the leaves up after stitching them to the layout. I then ran the die cut label from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Snip-its add-ons (available in the Clique Kits Shop)  through my printer to print the journaling.

Locker Room: Naples

blog-image_locker-room

Hello everybody! Elisabetta here to show you the first layout I made with the gorgeous August Kit. 🙂

IMG_4973 copia

This picture was taken in Naples, one of the most beautiful italian cities! I went there with my friend Francesca in April. It rained almost all weekend (the picture was taken in one of the rare moments when the sun was shining) but we enjoyed it anyway. 🙂

IMG_4974IMG_4975

The thing that I love the most about this layout are those gorgeous flowers that I cut from a paper that’s included in the kit. I absolutely adore every kind of flowered paper and I find it so relaxing to cut the flowers and use them as embellishments on my pages. 🙂

IMG_4976

Another great thing about the kit are the Fancy Pants bows!! I adore them 😀 this gold is just perfection, isn’t it?

IMG_4977IMG_4978

I can’t wait to see what you’re going to create with this kit, I’m having so much fun with it at the moment!! I’ll see you tomorrow with another post, thank you for looking. 🙂

Art Studio: Cali!

artstudioheader

Hello Friends! Leigh here, to share an Art Studio layout with the gorgeous Rio Kit!

One of the things I love most about Art Studio posts, is that it gives me a chance to try out some new techniques with mixed media. You can use any stencil or art screen to create this technique.

LOdynskiAug2016CaliLayout

You can see the script on the white background card stock, that was created with a Heidi Swapp art screen and some texture paste. I love the subtle tone on tone effect it gave, and it almost looks like the paper came that way.

LOdynskiAug2016CaliLayoutbottom

Next, you can layer on some papers from the kit. I chose to keep with an achromatic color scheme, which is all neutrals and no colors. There are plenty of black and white options in this month’s kit from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio B sides. Cut in strips, and bend them up after stitching on them.

LOdynski2016CaliLayoutright

You can layer different black and white papers, and the gold die cuts  from the kit  behind the photo to accent it.

Add your title and gold Color Shine and you’re done! Super quick page since the texture paste dries so fast!

Geek Lab: Fresh

geeklab

Hello Clique Friends! Leigh here, to share a Geek Lab tutorial using one of the citrus cut files for this month! So perfect for summer!

CKLOdynskiAugust2016FreshFullLO

The August 2016 Clique Kits Rio Kit is just so perfectly fresh! Can’t you just taste the citrus flavors now?

7775792_orig

This exclusive cut file is one of many available in the Clique Kits Store for August!

Simply add patterned paper behind the half slices and vary the colors across the page. I love the way this cut file looks when some of the spots are left open, and it is lifted up on foam adhesive.

LOdynskiAugust2016FreshLeftSide

Here you can see the strips of patterned paper were stitched on at the top, and the dimension and texture added by lifting the cut file up off the background card stock.

LOdynskiAugust2016FreshRightside

Close up of the title, also from the Clique Kits August Exclusive Cut files. Those translucent sequins included in this month’s kit are perfect for repeating the transparency of the ice and drink in the photo. The variety of embellishments included this month make it easy to add interest to your page with different textures. LOVE this kit so much!

Need a Title? Just Use a Song

Blog Image_Yearbook

Hi, all! I am quite excited to begin sharing my projects with the fabulous August kit! I think I say this every time I get a new kit, but the colors just blow me away. Lots of black and white together with bright shades of pink, blue, orange, and green. It is so much fun to work with.

13659120_10206535711246790_3158973205349706611_n

So, back in December, I heard a song. And when I heard the song, I said, “Yes! That song just captured the entire essence of my being!” Those might not have been my exact words, but something along those lines. I later learned the song is by Courtney Barnett, and it is called, “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go to the Party.” The refrain that just got me is this: “I wanna go out, but I wanna stay home.” As an introvert, this line expressed so much of what I feel, like, all the time.

closeupEven back then, I knew I wanted to use those lyrics in a scrapbook page, but it did not come together until recently. As I have scrapped and blogged several times this year, I have begun to take dance classes at the ripe old age of 41. I love it, but it does mean I have to leave the house to do it. Hence the inner struggle between going out and staying home. I also included in my journaling, the struggle between going out and following my dreams, and being around and present for my family. Because those are all parts of this dancing story.

alizadeutsch_august2016_I wanna go out

If there are song lyrics you love, hold onto them. Because they might help you scrapbook a story.

Thanks for stopping by!
