Locker Room: Awesome

Good morning scrappers! Have you been in our shop lately? There’s lots of goodies to be had. Like, Crate Paper, American Crafts and We R Memory Keepers to name a few. I just received a big box from Clique Kits last week and I felt like Christmas came early, but my wallet disagreed with me. LOL. Today I want to share this adorable layout with you. Edward is CRAZY about collecting these little Mine Craft dudes so I wanted to create a layout for him. I think I’ll buy a frame and hang it up in his room if he likes it.

Initially, I was going to grab a sketch and start scrapping, but then I wasn’t sure I wanted to do a sketch. I was all over the place. And then I looked over at the bowl of washi tapes on my desk and thought to myself, ” I really need to use those.” I started this layout by pulling a few washi tapes out of the bowl that would go with the color scheme of my layout. I just love the “Cool Kid” collection by Crate Paper. It is so perfect for scrapping your boys. My son is already trying to take my rubber embellishments from me so I just ordered another set with my add-ons for this month. I used several strips of washi to decorate my paper.

Then I used Picmonkey to create a collage of my photos. This is a free program if you just need to do basic editing.

Once I had my photos printed, I pulled out a few die cuts that I wanted to use.  I LOVE the tags and the “Toys Rule” cut-apart. I just started moving everything around until I was happy with the placement. At the last minute, I decided to create another collage of photos to tuck behind the top tags.

I added a few embellishments here and there. The rubber embellishment would not stay on the paper with a glue dot so I used a gel medium and it worked great! Here are a few close-ups. I can never add enamels right… They never look right, but they are there and wouldn’t come off without messing up the layout so I left them alone.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Student of the Month- Lisa Fritzler

Hi Everyone!  Lisa here with you today and I thought for the blog post today, I would share with you what I have been creating with the July Clique Kit (Carpe Diem.) I even have a video to share with you. I started out with the gorgeous wood grain pattern paper from the collection. This has to be my favorite paper and I would seriously hoard it. I love wood grain though. And the only thing that would make it better would be if they made it scratch and sniff.

The next thing I did was try to find a picture that I wanted to scrapbook. I have made it a challenge to myself to pull out some older pictures to scrapbook, so I pulled out an older picture of my son when he went to a petting zoo.

I looked through the papers I had left and the music paper jumped out at me. I feel like sometimes music paper could be related to being “girly” but i decided to give it a go. I added some layers of pattern paper behind the photo to add a bit more interest to the picture and to help guide you eye to it.

I then cut out some pieces from the cut apart sheet like the days of the week strip and the “Today” border. I added the wood vernier “This & That” piece, flair badge, and enamel key to a cluster on the bottom right side of the picture.

I then cut down the arrow transparency. This was just to get rid of the excess plastic. I then found some old frames in my stash as well as some other sticker and chipboard pieces. I added those to another cluster on the left side of the photo. I did this just so I could balance out all of the embellishments that were on the right side of the picture.

After the last final touches and journaling the page is complete. I hope you enjoyed today’s post, please watch the video to see it all come together.  Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel to see more projects using the July Carpe Diem Kit!  Have A great rest of your day!
