Clique Cards Spring Edition: Create your own background

Salutations everyone! I always love a challenge of creating my own backgrounds on my pages. When I first laid eyes on the Clique Cards Spring Edition, it was no exception – I had to create some background, especially with that gorgeous Altenew stamp set and I had some layouts in mind.

For my first page, I decided to cut large, narrow triangles to create a repeat pattern on the top and bottom of my page.

Being Awesome FN, @colortypes sophie @ cliquekits, #cliquekits #cliquecardsspringedition #papercraft #inspiration #DIY #scrapbooking

I love the bold effect this created and I went on to adhere my photo and embellishments. I thought a sprinkling of some of those lovely white sequins helped to soften the overall effect. We were at the museum when this photo was taken – I am grateful for the daily reminder from my kids on the importance of being curious and to learn continually.

For my second layout, I used the “hello” stamp from Altenew and covered the entire background with it. I decided to create an ombre effect, so it was certainly fun switching colors and stamping on the entire cardstock.

Hello 123 FN, @colortypes sophie @ cliquekits, #cliquekits #cliquecardsspringedition #papercraft #inspiration #DIY #scrapbooking

I thought it was appropriate to create a background of this nature for this picture in particular – one taken on the day we discovered that we have been blessed with Bub #3. We can’t wait for his/her arrival come this November! This page is very special for me, as it will be the first  layout for my third baby’s album. The embellishment found in the kit were also ideal for this page as I had the numbers 1, 2 and 3 in the kit as well as that lovely calendar diecut.

Thank you for joining me today. Here’s a tag to round it all off, as we celebrate our everyday (and also because I can’t seem to stop using all the lovely stuff in the kit. There’s so much!). Hooray!

Hooray Tag FN, @colortypes sophie @ cliquekits, #cliquekits #cliquecardsspringedition #papercraft #inspiration #DIY #scrapbooking

Spring Card Kit Fun!

Hello! Allie here today, and I am excited to share a few more projects using the Clique Cards Spring kit!

Mint to Be_My Minds Eye_Allie Stewart_Card

I love the “Mint to Be” quote and thought it was so perfect for the colors in this kit! I will definitely be giving this card to my husband. The mint and gold look so pretty together!

Hello_My Minds Eye_Allie Stewar_Card

For this fun card, I used the triangle motifs in the On Trend collection! Cutting triangles out of the patterned paper makes the card extra special.

Love_Pinkfresh Studio_Allie Stewart_Card

For this card, I mixed the April Main Kit with the card kit! I love how the card kit is so versatile!

Have you made anything with your card kit yet? I think my favorite item is the stamps–I love the brush script! Thanks for joining me today!

Locker Room: Layers and Layouts

lockerroom

Hi it’s Tyra and I’m here to share two examples of how I use my favorite technique I use with cards — layers — and apply the concept to creating layouts! If you attended Clique Kits National Scrapbooking Day Event, you might have noticed the first creative challenge involved playing with layers! I mentioned that I pull layered looks together by using any combination of:

  • Color
  • Theme or
  • Pattern

I also keep my sizing easy.  In the case of scrapbooking layouts, many photos are sized to either the popular Instagram sized 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm),  4 x 6 inches (10 × 15 cm), or 5 x 7 inches (13 × 18 cm). So, similar to how I cut cards I’ll usually cut layers for my layout up to 1/2 inch to a full inch larger so that al those pretty layers peek through!

So, here is a card with lots of lovely layers:

CK_Babingtom_May8_Dream

And here are a few layouts where I applied the same principles:

CK_Babington_May8Outside

CK_Babington_May82015

I love how these clean and simple layouts using May’s Kit “Carnival” turned out:

I hope I have inspired you today! Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Awesome mini-album

Hi all! Donna here again to share my last project using Clique cards: Spring Edition.

CK_Spring2015Cards4

For this post, I made a mini-album instead of cards. I used everything in the kit, as much as I can. BUT I still have lots of 6×6 papers in the pad left. Awesome!

Here is what I did

DonnaEspiritu-minia

DonnaEspiritu-mini2

I basically cut the color cardstocks into 4inx8in and then folded in half. I used several strings of DMC thread to bind the mini-album, stitched them together. Then I used half of a 6inx6in paper to cover the spine.

DonnaEspiritu-minib

Here’s a look at the pages inside

DonnaEspiritu-minic

I challenged myself not to use bulky embellishments for the inside pages,  just the stickers and ephemera included in the kit. Even if you put some photos inside, it will not be too bulky. I just love the colors and gold in this kit!

That’s about it for today, I hope you liked my project!
Thanks for dropping by!

Spring Card Kit

Hello Clique Kits friends. Marcia here, I have a few more cards to share with you using the Clique Kits Spring Card Kit. This kit is amazing!!! Gorgeous My Mind’s Eye On Trend papers and die-cuts, gold stickers, sequins, and an awesome stamp set from Altenew, and exclusive Clique Kits flair buttons. Take a look…

Hello

I used the Altenew stamp set here for the Hello and then fussy cut it out. I LOVE that the set has small text as well. Combined, they make truly eye-catching sentiments on cards. This stamp set is quickly becoming my favorite!

Hello_Sneak

I knew with all those pretty sequins, I would make a shaker card. I cut this gem with my Silhouette on gold cardstock. Using a couple layers of vellum to hold my sequins, I carefully stitched around the gem using gold thread. It sets off the gem pattern paper wonderfully!

Friends

A different Altenew sentiment from the same stamp set was used on this card, stamped and fussy cut out again. The kit comes with exclusive flair buttons and I used one on this card.

CK_Card_Friend_Detail

Everyone needs Birthday cards, right? With those gold My Mind’s Eye stickers in the kit, I couldn’t resist making a few birthday cards too.

One last card to share…. This time I used the Altenew stamp set to stamp on vellum and embossed it with gold embossing powder. The vellum softens the pattern paper beneath and really lets the sentiment shine.

I hope you enjoyed my cards. If you would like to purchase a Clique Kits Spring Card Kit for yourself, use coupon code Marcia10 and save yourself 10%! Trust me it’s well worth it.

Clique Cards Spring Edition: All Occasions Cards

Hello there everyone! Sophie here today to share some cards I made with the awesome Clique Cards Spring Edition. I love the refreshing color palette of this kit and the tons of stuff packed into it. So here are some cards I have created, which I kept flexible, so I can use them for different occasions.

Here’s the first, “Everything is Awesome”.

My Minds Eye Awesome Card FN, @colortypesink @cliquekits, #cliquekits #DIY #inspiration #ckcardspring

When I found out that a good friend was expecting her second child (one she has been waiting for), I was so thrilled and decided that a card was in order, especially one using that gorgeous piece of patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye with all those gold crosses! So loads of confetti, sequins and a gold banner to celebrate the occasion. Love the stamps in the set from Altenew. So much potential! I stamped the word “celebrate” using different tones of inks to create and ombre effect, before outlining the word in gold. While I made it to celebrate a pregnancy, I think it will work well for a birthday or happy event too (just tweak the number accordingly!).

My Minds Eye Celebrate 2 FN, @colortypesink @cliquekits, #cliquekits #DIY #inspiration #ckcardspring

For the next card, I kept it simple. I cut strips of paper and created a 3D bloom before adhering the circular die cut “love” in the middle. I also layered vellum on top of my cardstock to soften the colors.

My Minds Eye Love Bloom Card FN, @colortypesink @cliquekits, #cliquekits #DIY #inspiration #ckcardspring

Finally, to toss things up a little, I made a gift tag. See that rosette? I used the glassine bag found in the packaging to create it. Nothing like upcycling! I think those puffy gold crown and moustache stickers are reminiscent of photo booths that are so popular at parties these days. So on they went, for a touch of fun.

My Minds Eye Best Day Tag FN, @colortypesink @cliquekits, #cliquekits #DIY #inspiration #ckcardspring

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to sharing you other fun stuff I created with this wonderful kit in my next post!

Happy Spring! Clique Spring Card Kit

Happy Easter Clique friends! Marcia here today to share a couple of cards I created with the Clique Cards Spring Limited Edition Kit. This kit is GORGEOUS!!!! I am tripping on all things gold right now and this kit with the My Mind’s Eye On Trend papers is just a delight. I think you are all going to love it too. Take a peak…

SpringCardKit

All that elegance and gold is perfect for weddings. Do you know of a June bride? Since my daughter was recently married, I thought a wedding announcement would be just as perfect. Of course an announcement needs a photo ….

CliqueCards1

Being a photographer and a scrapbooker, I love including photos on my cards! Banners like this under the photo are a great way to use up your scraps.

CKCards_Detail

There are lots of embellishments in this kit that work for birthday cards as well, and who doesn’t need birthday cards! The Celebrate sentiment came from the digital downloads exclusive for the card kit.

CelebrateCard

Celebrate_CardDetail1

This last card could be used for a birthday or just a card to say hello to someone special. I used a Spellbinders die on the cardstock included in the kit and layered to pattern paper with the die cut cardstock. I just love that shaped enamel heart.

BeHappy

BeHappy_CardDetail3

I think the receiver of this card will be instantly happy when they see this.

BeHappy_CardDetail2

I hope you enjoyed my cards today. I promise to have some cards using the stamp in my next post. This kit is still available for purchase in the Clique Store, look under the Limited Edition Kits. Even though monthly subscriptions are sold out, anyone can still get their hands on these beauties. These are going to sell fast though so don’t wait too long.

Anything Goes: Tokens of love and appreciation

Hello, It’s Tyra and I’m here to share a few lovelies I created with the beautiful March kit, J’Adore!

When I first discovered the wonderful kit club that is Clique Kits, I have always loved (and still do) the versatility the kits offer for card making and other paper crafting!  Whenever I break open my Clique Kit I immediately make a few cards before I start creating layouts!  Creating cards gives me the ability to use a smaller “canvas” to explore the different design combinations possible from each kit.  So, today I want to simply share a few projects inspired by the fabulous papers and embellishments from J’Adore!

Last but not least,  I used the Ori Kami stamp set from Altenew and Kesi Art dies together with the papers from J’Adore to create these library pocket sentiments! Simply add a gift card to these lovelies for a simple token of appreciation!

Happy Day

Hello everyone, it’s Danielle here with you today. I have made a card with the January Tailor Made kit. I don’t make cards very often, but sometimes I get triggered by a piece of paper or an embellishment that would be perfect to make a card with.

I had that happening with this ‘Happy Day’ part of one of the papers in the kit, so that became the base of my card. I added it to a white cardstock background and stitched some of the grey strips with hearts on it. I cut out a frame of the paper with the red dots and hearts and added it with 3D tape to create some depth. As a finishing touch I added one of the clear stickers and two enamel heart shapes.
