Locker Room: You are dearly missed, Australia!

IMG_0133

Hello! Cassandra here and hope your week has been great! I am back to share another layout with the September Capture kit! Love every bit of it!:DIMG_4673

To create this layout, I first chose a patterned paper as the background paper then layered it with a 11.5″x11.5″ white card stock. Then I splattered red ink from Maya Road randomly around the card stock.
IMG_4670Next, I added a few vellum hearts from the Cocoa Vanilla Hello Lovely die cuts pack so that it won’t appear too plain!IMG_4671Then the rest would be layering it bit by bit. I like to first arrange everything so that I can get an overview of my end product and snap a photo so I know roughly where to put them. Though tedious, this has proven to help me make all my layouts more cohesive.IMG_4673All materials can be found in the September Capture Kit:_184304_origThanks so much for dropping by and hope you have enjoyed my project! We would really love to see your creations! Please hashtag cliquekits on Instagram or tag us on Facebook! Till my next update, take care and God Bless!CK_VarsityTeam_Cassandra

September Kickoff: One Kit Three Ways!

promcommittee

CK_Sept15-Logo-01

Happy September friends! It’s Gia here to kickoff a new month! I know September is a busy time of year for most-its back to school and routines after summer vacation in the northern hemisphere.  Perhaps it has different associations elsewhere, but wherever you are, Capture is a beautiful and versatile kit that does not really have a specific theme, making it perfect for anything goes! I decided for this month’s kickoff post I would show you how I used this month’s kit 3 very different ways!

Simple scrapper: Minimalist 8 1/2 x 11

When I first saw the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla paper collection I saw a lot of absolutely lovely florals and pinks, but there is much more than meets the eye in this kit. The pops of black and white with the grey neutrals and the pastel blues and peach shades add so much possibility. I took advantage of some of the hidden gem B sides and little cut apart pieces from the different papers here to create a very quick and simple layout focused on a photo that pretty much speaks for itself. (#Stay Cool….Oh yeah!) One of the trends in memory keeping that will continue to gain momentum is the minimalist trend. Who doesn’t love the idea of keeping it simple, yet still loving the modern, stylish look?

The September kit includes a piece of black crepe paper and some of you might be looking for ideas for how to use this. In case you missed it, Erica has shown a gorgeous layout using the crepe paper as a ruffle in her layering in a previous post. I am definitely going to scraplift that idea!  In this layout I created a banner of black and gold tassels using the crepe paper for my black tassels. Simply use a scissor to cut strips in a piece of crepe paper about 2 inches wide. Roll it and tape it on the uncut edge with double sided tape. Here I also made a couple of tassels from some gold mylar I had in my stash.

My alphabet (and numeral) stamp from Kesi-Art is my best friend lately for fast and easy journaling, along with my Hero Arts Ombre ink pads. The school store has re-stocked them some in the newest colors! Pick them up while they last! Here are some tips for trying out a minimalist layout:

  1. look at the backs of your papers for B side patterns
  2. white space-lots of it
  3. add interest with texture rather than lots of embellishment (in this layout I used white lace and white foam thickers which added texture without taking away from the simplicity)

Two Page Layout: Lots of Photos

Last February I took a trip to Las Vegas and since it was my first time there I took a ton of photos. I am not a project life scrapbooker, although I have made many attempts to be and really gave it my best try.  For this 2 page spread I used my Canon Selphy to print out my own photo collages which have some digital icons added to them to add to the design. This is easy to do using free online programs or apps. The focal point of the layout though is the photo of the Elvis impersonators, which is what my journaling is about. I used some white gesso and a stencil to create the map piece from the black corrugate cardstock included in the September kit. Two of the cards are Clique Kits exclusives, and two are cut-aparts from one of the included 12 x 12 papers.  I was able to fit 19 photos on this spread! Whew! That is a record for me!

Traditional/Mixed Media 12 x 12 Layout

This layout really highlights the lovely florals and pinks in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection. I wanted to use the dreamcatcher die to express the feeling of the photograph of my daughter’s dreamy silhouette on the pier close to sunset. To make my title I used the Evalicious alphabet from the kit layered over some Pinkfresh Studios washi tape that I first subdued a little bit with gesso. Mixed media layouts have never really not been popular with certain artists, but I believe that more and more traditional scrapbookers are trending toward using gesso, gel medium, texture paste, in addition to the usual paints and inks in their layouts. This month’s kit is a wonderful kit to use to experiment with this style and there are many items now in the school store to help you along the way! wildflower&co

Yearbook: Unexpected Moments

yearbook

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Can you believe tomorrow is October 1st? How did that happen?

Today I’m going to share a layout I created with the October Kit – Masquerade Ball. I love all the bright orange and purples in this kit. They are perfect for every day pictures and you could even mix them with some Halloween embellishments or a different paper line and scrapbook those Halloween memories! I just love how versatile the kit is when it come to themes. This is actually something the Clique gals consider when creating a kit, versatility!

I played around with the orange elements for this layout. One reason I did this was because my little nephew who is sleeping in this photo, LOVES orange. It’s his favorite color.

Photo Op: Those silly moments when something unexpected happens. My Mom & I took my nephew shopping and he fell asleep before we even got to the first store. So we took turns going shopping. When my mom was in Costco, I took this picture of my sleeping nephew and me while waiting in the car. It seems like such a silly moment, but I loved this moment of him just crashing in the car before getting to the first location. Though we did say the word “Cake” and he was awake.Gasper_LO1_OctKit

I layered products on this layout. I also used some of the stickers and those great flair pieces that are included in this kit. I added different arrow elements pointing at Colin to bring focus to him.  I also used the 3×4 journal cut-apart from BasicGrey that says “I absolutely Love this” and I cut the top portion to create the heart curves.

Below you will also see a green pocket. I love the little pockets in the kit. They are neutral to make them one of a kind! I sprayed one with green ink and stamped “Rise & Shine” on it. I then placed a DIY tag with my journaling inside of it.

I also adore the alpha set in this kit! It is awesome to have a variety. I decided to sew these on the page with my sewing machine. I kept the tails of the thread longer for an extra element of texture on the layout.

Gasper_LO1_OctKit_Close-up1Thank you for joining me today! I hope you are inspired to take photos of those little moments this week! Maybe something that happens often or something that is unique to the moment. Capture those memories to enjoy and share later.
