January Clique Kits Blog Share

@clique kits, #cliquekits #diy #projectlife #scrapbook #scrapbookkit #card

Hi everybody. It’s Nicole here, wishing you a fabulous Wednesday! Welcome to the January Pep Rally. This month, we hope to inspire you with the “Alegria” kit. I am such a big fan of Kim Watson’s work so when I saw that she was coming out with her very own collection, of course I wanted it and so did the Clique Kits girls! We just love her. 🙂

For our challenge this month, we went with an “Anything Goes” theme.

The Pep Rally, for those of you who are new to the Clique, is our monthly subscriber and design team blog share typically held the third week of the month and participants earn product credits-yes, free stuff to do what you love-who can beat that? It’s out with the old, in with the new time at Clique Kits when we (hopefully) have all killed our kit from the previous month and have lots to show off, and we start to chat and hype the excitement for the coming month’s kit. In other words, we party! We don’t leave out our guests-there is always a prize for a hopper who comments on each post and likes and shares on social media! Just leave a new comment for each like and share for a separate entry in the random drawing for this month’s prize. One lucky person will win this month’s Capture kit that is sold out! Get the word out and have your friends join our Pep Rally because they might end up with this gorgeous kit at their doorsteps!

Here’s today’s line up:

Feel free to hop in any order, if you get lost, you can always come back here to find your place. This month, I thought it would be fun to play with die cuts and tags. LOVE the tags in this collection. I can’t get enough of them. Seriously. I decided to paint on my tag to make it work for this layout.

A few close ups:
Cardstock: My Mind’s Eye, Paper: Puffy Stickers: Tags: Fancy Pants Designs, Flair: Clique Kits, Wood veneer: BasicGrey, Acrylic paint: Studio Calico, Stamps: American Crafts, Mini Stapler: Tim Holtz, Paint splatter stencil: Clearsnap.

Now, hop along and see what our design team and subscribers have been working on. Don’t forget to check out the gallery on the website landing page featuring our Varsity Team (design team) projects using the December kit and check out the Monthly Kit page for all the details about next month’s amazing Clique Kit Hot Mess. Take care!

Locker Room – Graphic Heart

blog-image_locker-room

Hello Clique kit fans, Leeann here today sharing another fabulous page created with the Alegria kit featuring Fancy Pants Designs – Happy Place! today I wanted to share with you this graphic heart,  made from cutting  squares into triangles. Graphic shapes are on trend and this heart, well what can I say it’s a winner in my books and so easy to create.  And if you own a square punch why not use that and make smaller size hearts to embellish your pages.

The possibilities are endless.

So lets get started I first sketched and ruled this graphic heart shape out so that you have something to work from!

CK Locker Room LP4

Start by selecting your papers from the Alegria kit. I cut 3″x 3″ squares for this page. Then simply cut each square thru the middle  leaving you with 2 triangles.

CK Locker Room LP3

Once you are done cutting you can place them on your background card-stock. It fills the background perfectly! Adhere  in place. I added each detail by cutting a few more triangles from scraps and layered them for more dimension and texture.  I also added some machine stitching and  a little watercolor paint.

The next step was to finish the page off by adding your photo and title and hidden journaling.

CK Locker Room LP5

and here’s the finished layout and a few close up shots.

“Today was awesome and fantastic”

Thank you for popping by today, I hope that you give this a try and you could share this with us at the January pep rally on the 20th.

That would be fun!

Geek Lab: Celebrate Everyday

geeklab

Hello everyone! Donna here to share another layout using the fun January kit Alegria featuring Fancy Pants Designs Happy Place.

7589276_orig

But first, let me share a little bit of photo editing. I am using an old version of Adobe Photoshop (CS3) but I am pretty sure you can do the same steps in higher (or even much lower) versions of PS.

Every January, our family and friends gather for a little thanksgiving celebration. And I look forward to it because that’s when hubby and I started having our family photo with our daughter. This year is the second one. I have another layout using the photo from last year that I will be posting on my blog.

This is the photo I used. Notice the little green and white specs on hubby’s face and shirt? That’s what I edited out. There were strobe lights in the party that’s why there were green little specks on our faces etc.

photo1

Open your photo and duplicate. Then click the healing brush tool option. You will have to choose the brush size depending on the size of what you want to clear or edit out. The white specks on hubby’s shirt were little bit small so I chose a small round brush tip (solid, 100% opacity). While holding the Alt key (Windows), choose an area you want to “Copy” onto the little white specks. Then click on the specks.

photo4

Next was the green speck on hubby’s face. Click the healing brush tool option again and select “Patch Tool” this time. You will encircle the area you want to fix. Then move your cursor to the area where it’s clear and drag it to the area to be fixed. Make sure the area you are copying from has the same color or texture to the area you are fixing.

photo2

I also fixed the black circles under my eyes and the greenish spot on DD’s forehead. Duplicate the photo again. Let’s do my eyes first. Using the Patch Tool again, I circled around the area under my eyes where the dark circles were. Then I just dragged the cursor to my forehead where t’s clear and can be copied to the area I want to fix. Do one eye first then the next eye. Now, once the dark circles were covered, lower the opacity of the “duplicate copy” of the image. I did mine around 35%. This way, my face won’t look too Photoshopped lol! I just slighly lighten the dark circles. Then I did DD’s forehead next using the Patch Tool as well but didn’t lower the opacity anymore.

And here is the photo on the layout I made

Happy crafting,

Art Studio – Textured backgrounds

artstudioheader

Hello Ck fans it’s Leeann here. Today I’m sharing  how I created this textured background using up some left over alphas. And I’m  using the January Alegria  kit because it’s fancy and gorgeous of course!

11215799_531766023654984_616730259138062611_n

So lets get started – I’m using the pinkfresh studios alphas ( happy things) leftover from the  October funfetti  2015 kit. You can used any alphas you have leftover for this! I randomly place them on a piece of white cardstock. Applied two coats of gesso and allowed each coat to dry.

CK art studio 1

Once dry I used my water colour paints. I created a pool with the black watercolor paint and brushed over the letters. Add flicks and splats. Once happy with the amount of color blot with paper towel to soak the excess off. Allow to dry. I love the result of the letters they pop under the color!

CK art studio 2

I added  some detail by randomly machine stitching zig zags in a bright yellow thread. I love using my stamps to add pops of designs. I have an assortment that I go too all the time.

Once you are happy with all the mixed media layers grab the January Alegria kit and get scrappy.

CK art studio 3

and here’s my page. I loved using the teal and yellow puffy stickers they really pop against the black!

Geek Lab – Embellishments making and layering.

geeklab

Hello Clique Fans, its Leeann here today. I cant wait to share this project with you all. I’m using the January 2016 Alegria Kit featuring Fancy Pants Designs  – Happy Place!

I decide to pull out a few of my punches and team them up with the Fancy Pants Designs Happy Place Ephemera pack, Clique Kits: Journal Cards, flair, hemp twine and a few of the Fancy Pants Designs pattern papers. I wanted to get stuck into these packs and make an embellishment full of dimension and layers.

Let take a peek at my project.

“smile / sweet”

CK Jan GeekLab LP 01

CK Jan GeekLab LP 02

CK Jan GeekLab LP 03

Start by selecting  a few of the tabs, tags, arrows etc from the Fancy Pants Designs ephemera pack and a few from the Clique Kits journal pack and  lay them out. Cut a few 1″ strips from the pattern papers.

CK Jan GeekLab LP 04

Next select a few punches.

CK Jan GeekLab LP 06

Punch out a few shapes from the pattern papers. Now all you need to do is start layering the strips of pattern papers and  punched shapes, adding bits of the ephemera at the same time. Once you are happy with your placement staple. You can add more by cutting the tags in haft, adding glue to the ends and slide them in and under. Don’t forget to fan the layers, use your fingers to lift each piece. So that you see the layers.

CK Jan GeekLab LP 05

and the end result!

CK Jan GeekLab LP 07

I hope today was fun and you go and make a few of these for your next project. They are great on any type of project too. Thank you for popping in today and I look forward in sharing more creative things with you soon!

Yearbook – Remember…

blog-image_yearbook

Hello, its Leeann here with you today. I am so happy with this page and the little memory notes I jotted down. It wasn’t that long ago that we sold this farm and moved state. I have so many photos to scrap and memories to record. The yearbook is all about documenting and preserving those memories. And here’s a great way to do this, why not print your photos mini and group them on your page.

I’m using the January Alegria kit, featuring Fancy Pants – Happy Place collection.

I was inspired by the mini film strips in the Fancy Pants Ephemera Pack and the Clique Kits Journal Spots. Once I decided on my design.  I jumped straight in, as it was simple. I wanted each of the mini squares to have texture so I created layers using pattern papers from the Fancy Pants collection. I couldn’t help but fall in love with all those puffy stickers too, seriously how awesome are they! I jotted a few of the things we did, there’s way more of course!

“Beautiful happy life”

CK JAN Yearbook LP 001

Here’s a couple of detailed shots, showing you the layers. Once I have the layers sorted I then add my embellishments!

CK JAN Yearbook LP 002

and finally I like to use  my fingers to crinkle and lift each layer!

CK JAN Yearbook LP 003

Well I hope today has been of some inspiration  to you. If you have a few tiny photos maybe you would like to try this design and jot those memories down. Its quick and a lot of fun. I look forward in sharing more projects with you soon.

January Student of the Month – Kelly Barron

student-of-the-month

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to bring you our first Student of the Month for January!  I have been following Kelly on YouTube for awhile and I love her style!  I am so very excited to have her as a guest for Clique Kits using the January kit!  Please make sure to check out her YouTube channel and subscribe to see more work from her using the January kit!  Please say hello to Kelly!

Hi everyone! I have loved all things crafty for as long as I can remember.  My mother taught me to cross stitch and latch hook, and that was a love throughout my childhood.  I have also dabbled in cake decorating and crochet.  I stumbled upon scrapbooking after my son was born in 2000 and have been in love with the hobby ever since.  There is just something so special about playing with pretty papers and embellishments that is just therapy for my soul, with the added bonus of documenting our lives. I also love to knit and usually have a couple of projects on needles at all times. I have been married to my husband for 17 years and we have two teenagers who keep us on our toes!

Kelly BarronClique Kits

Hey guys, it’s Kelly and I’m so excited to be sharing my first layout using the Alegria kit!  I love the bright colors of this collection.  I have been working quite a bit on my December album, so when it came time to make a 12×12 layout, I chose one of my favorite page designs.  I find that when making the first layout with a new kit it is easier for me to stick with something that I like to do in regards to the design.

Celebrate---CK

On this close up you can see the dimension of the various layouts.  Save your glassine envelopes!!  They make great layering pieces on your pages.

I love to journal on tags and place them in the glassine bags, especially when I use mixed media on my layout. I have a process video if you would like to take a peek at my process. I’ll have some more videos to follow using this kit!

To see more of Kelly’s work and follow her on social media please check out her links below and as always have a wonderful day and for our friends in the states have a Happy New Years Eve!

Yearbook – My Year in a Layout!

blog-image_yearbook

Hello everyone, how are you? Caroli here and today I am posting on the yearbook section the first layout I made with the fabulous January kit ALEGRIA.

The purpose of this section is to document our lives, and today I want to document the fantastic year I had this 2015.  This is the moment when we all look back and analyze how our year was, and I must say that this year was more than awesome for me and my family!
We got to travel few times -including a dream trip to Walt Disney World- I got to spend time teaching scrapbooking classes and enjoyed  working for some fabulous DT, my little girl and I saw Katty Perry live, and finally after hoping for this so long I got pregnant, just to name few of the blessings we received this year.

This is the layout I made:

cliquekits_januarykit_fancypants_carolischulz

As you can see, I wanted to use a lot of pictures but I did want to keep a lot of white space, so I printed pics in different sizes but always keeping a tiny format, some are square and some other round or rectangular.

cliquekits_januarykit_fancypants_carolischulz5

For my title I used one puffy scrip word from the Fancy Pants set included on the add-ons of the kit, and complement it using some Bella Blvd. alphas I got left from December kit.

cliquekits_januarykit_fancypants_carolischulz3

In general I love ephemera packs and the full package included in this kit just blew my mind! I love this Happy Place collection and the diecuts on this ephemera pack are just perfect. I used a few signs and one of those pretty geometric birds, they are oh so lovely!

cliquekits_januarykit_fancypants_carolischulz2

An important part of this layout is the journaling, since I wanted to wrote about the great year we got to spend and how thankful I feel about that. I used one of the pretty journaling cards included on my kit.

cliquekits_januarykit_fancypants_carolischulz4

As always, I finishes my layout with some mist splatters and few fluffy stars and hearts included on teh Mixed Words set from the add-ons.

I hope the simple idea behind this layout, I love how clean but yet colorful result, and all the good memories it documents.  I send you my best wishes for this new year, thank you for visit Clique Kits’ blog today and happy new year!
