I AM Here with Gia

iamgoldcliquekitsHappy Sunday everyone! Gia here with another Clique into Summer post for you. We are almost to the end of Summer School and will be wrapping up this amazing journey we have had working on autobiographical albums and pages using our I Am Gold kits featuring the fabulous Simple Stories I Am collection. My topic this week is “I Am Here” and is all about my life right here and now. Clique Kits subscribers and those of you who purchased the I AM Gold kit and workshop will find my downloadable PDF on the I Am Gold workshop page featuring some inspiration in mini album formats using journaling prompts with lots of project photos!

Today I am sharing a layout of a simple selfie of myself right now with a quote that I really identify with. The quote is by one of my favorite artists-Frida Kahlo- and I hand journaled it right on to the white space around my photo which I printed at home using my Canon Selphy.

To create my background, I thought it was appropriate to use a stamp of Frida herself and my Hero Arts ombre ink pads in pinks and oranges in a pattern with some pineapples. I used some of the skinny Freckled Fawn washi tape from the shop to create a border and some scraps from my I Am Gold kit. The Aloha in the title is a custom piece hand cut from wood veneer and the vellum hearts by Seven Paper were also from the Clique Kits store. Don’t you love those teeny puffy hearts? They are from Seven Paper and were also from the store-another add on from this month. I know that the monthly add ons and the recent July 4th Sale led to stock selling out lightning fast. But the good news is- there will be more brand new product hitting the shelves very soon! You will definitely want to stay glued to this blog and to the Clique Facebook page this week when the August Kit and add ons are revealed! August Reveal starts Wednesday July 15th!

I hope you have been sharing your layouts, minis, and albums about YOU using hashtags #IAMGOLD and #CliqueintoSummer15 so that we can find you! We will have the big wrap up post next week and YOU could be featured and win some prizes!

I AM sharing my story

I AM Gold banner

Hello everyone, it’s Danielle here with you today. This week it’s my turn for Clique into Summer with the I AM Gold kit. My version of I AM is I AM a traveler, as traveling is my biggest passion in life and I travel as much as my schedule allows me to. If you bought the kit, you will have access to my I AM a traveler class, starting today.  You can find it under ‘the clique’ tab on the Clique Kits website. In my class I teach you how to easily document on the go and I’ll take you through my process to prepare.

For the project I’m sharing here on the blog today, I documented the documenting…ok, that might need some explanation 🙂 I’m lucky to have a travel buddy who gets my scrapbooking hobby, who understands why I do it and why this is important to me. So you will never hear him complaining when I take picture # 263 of the same object while we’re traveling. He also takes pictures himself and sometimes I use his pictures in my albums, to document his point of view or how he is looking at things. When I got his pictures, I started to notice that he secretly takes pictures of me while I’m taking pictures. Those are not always the most flattering ones of me, but I actually really like these pics. It shows more than anything how I’m preserving memories and I noticed that over the years he took a whole bunch of them. So I decided these pics needed an album of their own.

I made this mini album that I binded with the WRMK Cinch on both the left and right side, so the pages open alternately to the left and right. On this first page you might wonder where I am…you can find me in the middle on the bridge.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

I Am an Insta Junkie

Hello my darling Clique Kits fans! I hope you’re carving out some time in your days to get your scrap on! I’ve been trying to make sure I do something creative every day and it has really helped me keep my mojo going!!

Today I want to share with you a layout I made using the sold out I Am Gold exclusive kit featuring the amazing I Am collection by Simple Stories. I absolutely LOVE this collection! It’s so versatile in that you can create layouts about yourself (which is always good, because your kids are going to want to know more about you too, and not just see a million layouts about them! lol), but it’s also great for making those layouts about our kid’s personalities and anyone else too! Love it!

For this layout I wanted to create a grid showing off my obsession with instagram. I LOVE instagram! I love that you can put fun filters on photos and share them via instagram on facebook too. I’m a bit of a junkie to say the least! lol So I found some of my favorite instagram photos and made them all black and white so they wouldn’t be too busy for the eye, and printed them all out on a contact sheet on my printer.  The layout came together really easily! I just arranged the photos in a grid and placed a few little embellishmets here and there and a little stitching and there you have it!

I fussy cut one of the 4×6 cards that had the I am on it for my title and used the small stickers from the sticker sheet for the rest of the title. I love that little heart geotag!

Because there are so many photos, I didn’t want to put too many embellishments on this layout, because I really wanted to focus to be on the pictures. So I just added a few sequins and some mist splatters to give it a little more visual interest and left it at that.

I hand cut the “Insta” part of the title out of patterned paper and popped it up with pop dots to make it stand out more. Then I finished off my title with those fabulous gold hearts and that adorable arrow sticker!

I also wanted to share another layout I made using the last bits of my kit. My son sent me this meme and it inspired this layout:

I knew it would be perfect for this picture of Ethan holding their second place trophy for their hockey tournament a few years ago!

I just got those fabulous Hero Arts Ombre ink pads and I was itching to use them, so I grabbed this Altenew stamp set that came in the kit (it’s also available for purchase in the store separately) and used it to make my background. I also used some Tim Holtz distress ink that I put on a piece of packaging with a little water and smushed it around and dabbed it randomly around my page. I love that technique!

The “awesome” in my title is a Heidi Swapp alphabet from my stash that I colored with the Tim Holtz ink also.

I really love the Altenew Thoughts and Reminders stamp set. It’s got a lot of great sentiments that you can use for your scrapbooking and cards alike! You can use my coupon code SARAH10 to get 10% off this set and anything else in the store if you have a hankering for some shopping! 😉

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

I Am Gold: Clique into Summer ’15 Workshop Kickoff

AWelcome to the second annual Clique Kits Summer School workshop! The Clique Kits team is so excited to bring you eight full weeks of inspiration using the Limited Edition I Am Gold Kit which has of course already sold out. All subscribers are automatically able to access the workshop lessons on the website using their usual log in and password access.  The workshop will be available for purchase in the store starting June 7th for just $10 for non subscribers and no special kit is necessary to purchase in order to participate!  So let’s get this party started, shall we?

Here is a peek at what is to come this summer!

The workshop will consist of inspiring lessons released each Sunday from June 7th-July 12th with a wrap up and grand prize giveaway on July 19th ! Each lesson will consist of either a pdf format or a video and sometimes both!

The collection in the spotlight that forms the foundation for the I Am Gold workshop is the I Am collection by Simple Stories designed by Amber Crowell and her team at Simple Stories. When Lacey, Erica, and I were at CHA-Winter last January we first saw the I Am collection at the Simple Stories booth and knew that it would be perfect for my vision of this interactive online class. First, I wanted to help each other strip away all of our harsh self criticism and inhibitions and learn to love taking more photos of ourselves putting more of ourselves in our memory keeping albums. Second, I wanted to share different concepts for autobiographical scrapbooking so that our voices can be heard and our stories can be told.  And last, since we all know that summer time is for fun and rest and relaxation- maybe that means travel or maybe that means spending more time being with loved ones- the important thing is to keep it simple. So summer school is all about  finding ways to use the latest products designed for ease of use like smaller album sizes, pocket pages, and tips like photo  prompts to help you get it all done quickly and easily without compromising on great looking pages!

And now for some peeks at some I Am Gold inspiration coming soon !
