Share your space with Magali Le Luc

Magali here today to share my crafty space with you and
I have found a mantra made for me and my craft space!

creative.jpg

Each time I want to show my craft space, I am a little anxious about what people could think (especially the ultra extremely organized crafters),
but we are all different, aren’t we?

And even if my space is always (or nearly always) a mess, I must admit that I need it.
Most of the time, I lose things when I try to organized my stuff and I tend to feel very inspired when I have embellishments, papers and all sorts of things all over my table. I love creating several pages with a same embellishment set.
But today, I’ll try to show you how a messy creative person organizes her space.
Don’t be surprised, I was feeling so ashamed
that I took the mess out of the room before taking the photos!
(keep in mind that this would have been too hard for organized people eyes).

Let’s start!

I recently moved in a new room of my basement, as we broke down a wall in the basement to create a large family room. As I wanted to keep a closed room (in which kids cannot come alone), I’ve decided to move into another room of the basement. In the previous craft room, I had a large table with shelves on the wall (all built especially for the space by my lovely sister). The dimension of my new room are a little different so the table and the shelves are not exactly made for the space
but I continue to love this large white table with the shelves on the wall. This is also why we can now see the connection between both part of the table.

On the picture below, you can see half the length of the table.

craft room (6)

I always work on the pink mat.
I have all my inks on a  little carousel. This is always super easy to grab the colour I need.

And as I love to have everything on hands, needless to say that my favourite organization tool is this Clip It Up. I can easily see every embellishment sets I have and it’s placed in the corner of my table, right in front of my working space (on the right on the below picture).

craft room (10)

Right beside this carousel, you can see my Clique kits. I keep them separated by kit in large plastic transparent bags!

craft room (16)

On the right side of my mat, I have my paper collections
and all my tools in a big white carousel too!
As you can see, all my papers are in a big plastic box
(that you can find in an hardware store). I place the papers by colour and when new collections arrive, I place them in the front, by collection.

craft room (8)

At the opposite part of my table, I have made a giant box for my letters.
I love letters, so I have tons and tons of them in every colour. A few months ago, I was not able to organize them anymore, so I decided to gather them all in the same box!
(the box is around 2 1/2 feet long). In that box, I organized my letters by colour.

craft room (4)

As you can see on the picture below (sorry, there is so much light coming from the window, that it was hard to take a proper photo), I have red pots from IKEA over my table, where I place my staplers and my date stamps).

craft room (7)

Under the table, I have large racks with drawer boxes! I absolutely love these drawers.
I place the products for my different DT teams, my ribbons and laces, my white and black papers, my paper trims, lots of stamps, etc.

craft room (15)

And I am not sure if you noticed it earlier but I have a kneeling chair. I sit all day long in a traditional office swivel-chair, so I need to give rest to my back when I scrapbook.
That’s why I’ve opted for this chair and I love it! craft room (1)

I am a punch lovers, so I have all of them ready to use.
Some are on a rail (thanks IKEA again!). I love that I can see them very quickly.

craft room (12)

The rest of my punches are in the lower stage of my Raskog cart (yes, I have one too, but you won’t see it, as I had not the time to decide what to place
in it yet and it’s nearly empty).

craft room (14)

Right behind me, there is this shelf. This is newly installed so I have not a lot of things in it (and that’s why it seems so organized!).
At the top, I have my Big Shot, with the dies.
Below are my Project Life cards in the plastic box.
The wicker baskets are still empty (I’ll certainly place my die cuts in them).

The plastic box at the bottom is a box where I put all my tiny paper trims.

I hope you enjoyed the Tour! 🙂

Hello!

Today, I am very happy to show you a new layout made with the Play Kit (March kit), that you can buy in the store here. I am totally in love with the bold colours of this kit and I am sure you are too. Don’t forget you can even add some products matching this kit offered in the store.

I love the different die cuts from Shimelle! They add a funny touch to any layout.
And some of them allow to add beautiful journaling spots to your layout. I’ve decided to show you how to use one of them to create an original journaling.

mleluc_march_yearbook

As you can see, I’ve used the little blue typewriter to highlight my journaling. I’ve written my journaling with the computer using the Traveling Typewriter font. It’s important to write the journaling on a narrow piece of paper, as this is the detail that creates the wow effect.

As you may already know, The Cut Shoppe is our sponsor for the March challenge, and I’ve decided to use a cut file for this occasion. Look at the effect on the background! Love that!

mleluc_march_yearbook3

mleluc_march_yearbook5

I also love the Play kit because it can be used for lots of different colour combos. Mine is yellow, navy blue and blue. It was mainly chosen because I used the Bear Hug Paper from the Little by Little Collection of Shimelle.

As I only used the right part, it gave me the colour direction of this layout.

Here is a better look on some parts of my layout. Enjoy!

And I have to say I am a little bit sad today, because this is my last blog post on the Clique Kits blog, as I have to leave the team for personal reasons. I want to thank you all the team, Erica, Nicole and Gia for this wonderful experience over the last month!
As the CK kits are full of products, I have lots of products left from past kits, so be sure you will see some other layouts from me made with them!

Have a wonderful day!

Geek Lab | One + One

Hi Clique Kits fans,

I am very happy to be here with you today, to show you a fun way to customize the wood embellishment (one + one = us), that you can find in the March kit (Play kit)
available in the shop.

magalileluc_march_geeklab

magalileluc_march_geeklab7
As you can see, I’ve tried to create the same effect than in the letters from the kit.
I’ve painted half the letters with a new product from Aladine: the Izink 3D Texture Paste.
magalileluc_march_geeklab2
It’s a kind of light coloured texture paste, very easy to apply.
To obtain this effect, I’ve used washi tape as masking tape. I did not have any more masking tape, but that may be better to use masking tape than you favorite washi tape, except if you want to leave the washi on the letters.
magalileluc_march_geeklab3
Then, I’ve applied my texture paste directly on the wood with my finger. The best is to follow the lines of the wood, and the embellishment is perfect for that.
Let the texture paste dry at least 10 minutes. Then take off the washi tape and enjoy!
magalileluc_march_geeklab4
I absolutely love the result!!

Then, this wood embellishment can be used in your layout.
Here are some close ups for you to see the details.

Have a great day and don’t hesitate if you have some questions.

Locker Room | Love card

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hi everyone,

Today, I want to show you a little card made with the Bee You Kit.
I absolutely wanted to create a Valentine card with this kit and here it is.

magalileluc_fb_card

As you can see, I’ve used layering to create dimension on the card, but I’ve also create a real volume with the central butterfly. It’s made it with the cork butterfly on which I’ve glued a paper butterfly cut in the Flock Hazelwood American Crafts paper. I think this paper was my favourite of the kit. There is so many way to use it.

An other way to use it is to add a beautiful background and that’s also what I did on the card.magalileluc_fb_card2

The little epoxy pink triangle is here to add a touch of colour above the butterfly and is perfectly assorted to the corrugated paper below the tag.

You may also have noticed that I slightly transform the tag from the Hazelwood paper. I’ve used the tag but I cut the lower part to add the beautiful border with white crosses on pink (also in the Hazelwood paper). I love that it created a type of ombre effect on the tag.

I hope this inspired you! I wish you a wonderful day!

Ma mini Star

artstudioheader

Hi Clique Kits fans,

Magali here today with you to share a double page mixing paint and paper. With paint, it’s easy to add an additional colour to your layout. Don’t hesitate to add a colour to the combo created with the papers from your kit. It allows you to add more diversity in your album. Here is my double layout.

magalileluc_january_maministar

To create this layout, I’ve cut the black dot paper 8 1/2 x 11 and then cut it in two parts. I’ve placed one of the section in the lower part of my left page, and the other one in the upper part of my right page.

mleluc_january_ministar2

Then, I’ve used gesso to add a beautiful texture at the edge of the paper. To add the indigo colour, I’ve used some drops of liquid ink, on which I’ve sprayed water to let the ink spread over the textured gesso.

When  you use water, you need to let the paper dry and then to place some books on it to avoid warping of the paper.

mleluc_january_ministar1

I’ve cut some butterflies and placed them in line. As you can see above, I’ve stamped a butterfly under the green little butterfly. I love the volume it gives to the die cut.  The word “Star” is cut in the corrugated paper of the kit. I’ve used letter dies to cut my title in it.

mleluc_january_ministar3

And here is a last picture of my layout…mleluc_january_ministar4

Any question about my process? Don’t hesitate to ask in the comments!
Have a wonderful week!

Delight

yearbook

Here I am today, to share a layout I’ve made using the wonderful Hey Sugar January Kit.
Even if I have three boys, this kit is one of my favourite so far… so many fun embellishment and I love the bright colours! These colours are perfect for happy moments with my sons!
And I have quite a few of them to document!

magalileluc_january_delight

As the journaling says, this photo was taken last year.
After the school, I went to a park with my older son to take some pictures of him. He’s not always happy when I do that, but this day, he was so delighted to do that!
We spend a wonderful time together, playing under the tree, finding new angles to take beautiful photos. And he literally played with the camera.

magalileluc_january_deligh3

This is really a very nice memory for me, and I had to document it.
It was Spring and we were surrounded by beautiful colours and flowers.
I created this environment by cutting the Crate Paper flower paper.
I’ve used them to create a border under my photos
to separate the journaling and the photos.

magalileluc_january_deligh2

After placing my photos over the black and white paper, I’ve stitched (with my sewing machine) a white frame to highlight the pictures. I love how delicate it is!

magalileluc_january_deligh4

Don’t forget to check out the Hey Sugar Kit in the Clique Kits website. You will also find the new specialty Valentine Day Kit in the Clique Store.

I am sure you’ll love it!
Have a wonderful day,

Magali

Happy Together in 2016

art-studio

Hi Clique Kits fans,

It’s my turn to show you a layout with all our best moments in 2016 with the January Kit Hey Sugar. I choose a picture for each month and as I want to place this layout at the end of my Project Life album, I’ve decided to use the 12×12 format.

The format of each picture is 2 x 2 po.

magalileluc_january_happytogether

To add a little mixed media touch in my layout, I’ve used gesso and vellum to create a lace background under my picture. This adds a nice texture.

magalileluc_january_happytogether5.jpg

I’ve place my lace design under the picture to connect the different flower die cuts, I’ve taken from the Crate Paper flower paper. It creates a bunch of flowers around the photos.
Then, I added my photos as a grid. It was difficult to choose only one picture representing a whole month (and the year) but finally I did it!
I tried to choose picture of each one of my boys alone and some other pictures with the whole family. I also tried to choose pictures with visits from my family members that we don’t see often. I am happy to see them in our 2016 wrap-up.

magalileluc_january_happytogether4

And some extra photos for you… I love this little Crate Paper tab with fringe!

Love Always

13738133_10206587473420812_3012027118225482067_o

Hello everybody, happy to see you here… maybe are you relaxing before or after your Christmas celebration! I hope you enjoy this time at the best!

Today, I am here to share a layout I’ve made with the January Hey Sugar kit, that you can find here. This is a wonderful kit full of love. That’s why I’ve decided to create a layout about love… with a little Christmas touch! Read until the end if you want to have the little tutorial I offer you today.

magalileluc_january_lovealways1

You may notice that I was inspired by the donuts image from the Moodboard of the month.
ck_jan17-moodboard

And some close-ups for you to see the different elements I’ve used from the kit.magalileluc_january_lovealways2

magalileluc_january_lovealways3magalileluc_january_lovealways4

Time for the tutorial now… The following image will show you how I’ve created the little rosette (not sure I am using the right word in English…). Some of you may know what a scoring board is. This tool is very useful to create fold lines, and this can be very useful to do rosettes.

Start by create fold lines every 1/4 in (my paper was cut 12po x 1po to make the big rosette you can see on my layout).magalileluc_january_lovealways5

Then create a tube with the paper you have and apply glue a the top.magalileluc_january_lovealways6

Then you can push on the tube to create the rosette. You will need to maintain it a little while for the glue to work properly.magalileluc_january_lovealways7

And finally, apply one of the perfect sticky button of Crate Paper, you can find in the kit. The glue dot at the back is just the perfect size to create a perfect rosette.magalileluc_january_lovealways8

I hope you will try this and enjoy the process!

Let me know if you do it!
I wish you a Merry Christmas to all of you!avatar

This Makes Me Smile

13719750_10206587473060803_1810682039379444486_o
Hello Clique Kits fans! Today, I want to show you a double page made with the Swan Lake kit… and my first video (I promise, I’ll be better next time!).

Over the next months, I’d like to add more journaling to my layouts, because I feel I need to share lot of stories. This one is about my son who loves to dress with Halloween costumes all over the year.

mleluc-november-lockerroom

I’ve used the black This Makes Me Smile paper, as a guide for my sketch. This phrase is so perfect for my picture. Then I used the yellow dot paper to complete my layout with a bright color. This is were I’ve placed my photo and as you will see in the video, I’ve layered quite a lot of ephemera from the kit to frame my photo.

mleluc-november-lockerroom2

I printed my journaling over only half a 8 1/2 x 11 page.
This allowed me to have enough space to add a reminder of the left papers. It’s also where I’ve decided to put the title vertically. I’ve played with the stripes of papers to complete the left page.

mleluc-november-lockerroom3

You cannot see it in the video, but the word “Memories” is made with stamps.
That was the perfect solution to complete my title with the word Gather from the Maggie Holmes Chipboard Collection.

mleluc-november-lockerroom4

Before adding some little drops of paint, I’ve colored the K from the This Makes Me Smile, as my son first name is Kerwan. And as a reminder, I’ve colored the word “memories” as well.mleluc-november-lockerroom5

Now time to watch the video. I hope you will enjoy it.

Some of you may be a little shocked by the “mistreatment” of the unicorn. I sincerely apologize for that!
