Yearbook || Project Life Ideas

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here today.  For all those living in the U.S., Happy Independence Day!  Everyone here at Clique Kits wishes you a safe and happy holiday.

I have really simplified my Project Life process this year, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t like adding some fun bits and pieces to my monthly spreads every now and then.

For the first page of my May spread I decided to make  a flip-up title card.  I did this for a couple of reasons: I prefer 4×6 title cards and the page protectors I like only have 1 4×6 slot…and I had a 4×6 picture.  Also, the picture contains a bunch of people from work and I knew that I was going to be sharing this spread online, so I decided this was the easiest way to cover it up 🙂  Here is the spread:

For the second page of my monthly spread I really wanted to find a unique way to use that awesome paper from Pinkfresh…and hence the giant “Life” title in the middle…I also managed to use the whole remaining package of SpiegelMom Scraps sequins here:

My third page is less exciting, but does include a few details that I think are fun; mainly the handmade filler cards:

Study Hall || Lots of Layers

Good morning, all!  Happy weekend! :o)

Today I am popping in to share another layout made with the Raskog Kit.  I usually have a semi-plan for how I want to arrange my page before I begin, but recently I’ve been sitting down with no real plan in mind.  That’s what I did for this page.  I knew I wanted to incorporate a lot of layers, but after that, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do.

I was so happy with the color scheme that ended up emerging on this page: black, white, grey, yellow, green and blue – so pretty! The colors look really nice with the handsome pictures of my Moose Dog :o)

After I had my pictures matted, I just started playing with scraps of paper and layered away.  I moved things all around until I got everything just where I wanted it.  I guess you could say that I “free-styled” this one:

Here is one last close-up…I kinda love those Bella Blvd/Illustrated Faith Enamel Hearts add on!

Art Studio || Fringe and Mist

Good morning, everyone!!  Kat here today to share my newest layout with the Raskog kit.  I am really enjoying this kit and it’s fun patterns and colors.  It’s a little bit different from what I’m normally attracted to, but I’ve found that it’s been so easy to create with.  I’m definitely a fan 🙂

As soon as I saw the acetate words in the kit, I knew I wanted to use one to create a mask.  The very first thing I did on this layout was use the acetate “Capture” as my mask and then I built the rest of my layout around it.  After my mist had dried, I outlined the word with a black marker to make it stand out more.

I also decided on a whim to add some fringed patterned paper.  The “fringe trend” is really popular right now, so I decided now was the time to experiment with it myself.  To pull everything together, I cut out tiny pieces from the 6×6 paper pad add on and created borders along the top & bottom of my page.

Locker Room || You Should Go and Lift Yourself

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here today sharing a layout made with the new Raskog Kit!!

Do you ever get “scrapper’s block” when you really want to create something but you have no idea what to do?  This happens to me more frequently than I’d like to admit.  One of my go-to ways to get the creative juices flowing again is to scraplift myself.  For today’s layout, I chose to scraplift the layout that I made for yesterday’s pep rally:

It’s  an easy design to copy, but there are ways to mix it up a bit, too.  I decided to rotate it and lift that design:

 

Here is my new layout made with the July kit.  You can tell that it was definitely created with the inspiration layout in  mind, but it’s different enough to stand on its own:

Geek Lab || Big Title, Small photos

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here today to share my last layout made with the Northern Lights kit.

I love creating layouts on an angle, but I think they’ve all kinda of started to look the same, so I decided to mix it up a bit for this one.  I began by cutting out my large title using my Silhouette and then adding in lines of small photos around the title.

I backed my title with the primary-colored (blue, red, yellow) papers – with a little green and black – from the kit, since those were the predominant colors in the photos.

I also used some of my scraps to create the patterned paper borders along the top and bottom of the page.  I finished off with some simple mist splatters.  In total, this page probably took me 15 minutes to make – very simple indeed!

I think a big title combined with small photos can have a  huge impact…what do you think?

Art Studio || Make a Rainbow!

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here to share a very *colorful* layout with you today.  This kit contains so many bright and fun colors that I knew I wanted to create something colorful.  The more I looked at the kit, though, the more I realized that I had an almost-rainbow with the patterned papers (just missing the orange).

I immediately got to work cutting the papers into strips and then layering them on top of one another.  I finished off the layout by adding coordinating embellishments on top of their corresponding colored patterned papers.

This layout came together very quickly, and I really like the way it turned out.  The “rainbow technique” is definitely one of my favorites in scrapbooking.  It’s just one of those things that I think always ends up looking good – but it’s SO EASY to do…which is always a win :o)

Locker Room || Beautiful Girl

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here popping in to share a layout that I recently made with the Northern Lights kit.  I don’t really have any earth-shattering techniques for you today, but I do have a few tips that I always use to help in creating my scrap projects.

1.  Bold patterns scare me.  I adore them, but I never know how to use them without my page getting too busy.  I’m really a white background, white space kinda girl.  However, when I find a pattern that I adore and just *HAVE* to use, I usually cut it into a strip and use it as the anchor for my design.  In this case, I used half of the paper I loved…this helps me feel like the paper isn’t overwhelming my project.

2.  Keep the rest of your design simple when using a bold pattern.  Without the bold background, my page would be pretty blah.  But paired with a simple design, the bold pattern becomes a great accent – and I actually really like how the page turned out.

3.  Use embellishments in threes to make invisible triangles all over your page. 3 tags, 3 sets of enamel dots, 3 groups of mists, 3 strips of washi…you get the idea 🙂

Project Life with Northern Lights

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here popping in to share my first project using the Northern Lights kit!  I really love how colorful and fun this kit is and I love all the exclusive die cuts and journaling cards.  I decided this would be the perfect kit to use to complete my March Project Life spread.

I’ve been keeping my project life pretty simple this year.  Using minimal embellishments has allowed me to stay current with the process.  Using colorful and fun products keeps my pages looking nice and a little “dressed up”!

I did have fun making my title card for this one.  I used a date stamp to create my background and then layered my title on top:

My final project was so colorful – I love this kit!

Yearbook || Hello 29

Good morning, everyone!  Kat here to share a new layout with you using the February Hot Mess kit.

I love how colorful and fun this kit is and thought it was about time to create a layout about me with it.  Since I started scrapping about 7 years ago, I’ve made a layout every year featuring a picture of myself from that year.  I haven’t made one for my 29th year yet, so I decided this kit was perfect to do that – especially with some of the awesome patterns included in it.

Here’s my layout:

I cut out the number title from one of the patterned papers and one of the other patterned papers was perfect for me to add in some simple journaling about all the roles I’m filling while being 29 🙂

Art Studio || Misted Background and Hand-cut Titles

Good morning, all!  Kat popping in today to share another layout that I made with the February kit, Hot Mess!

One of the things that I love about this kit is that it comes with your very own mini bottle of Heidi Swapp Color Shine – seriously, how awesome is that?!  I wish we received a mini bottle in every kit 🙂

I was lucky enough to get the “Butter” bottle and I knew I wanted to use the mist in a big way on one of my layouts.  I decided to punch out some large circles to use as masks on my cardstock, in effect creating my own patterned paper.  Then I filled in the circles with different bits of paper and embellishments.

I also decided that a hand-cut title wold be fun.  I’ve always been envious of the look that other designers pull off so easily, but every time I’ve tried to do it, it looks like something by 2-year old niece created.  I decided to just cut out one word and use alpha stickers for the rest of the title.  I actually really liked the end result!
