Yearbook: Besties

blog-image_yearbook

Hi everyone! Leigh here, with a Yearbook post featuring everyday photos. In this case, cell phone photos!

LOdynskiAugustBestiesfull

This layout uses a 2×2 cell phone photo snapped during our bestie’s Girl’s Night Out! I was inspired by the “Inspiration Weekend” over at Shimelle.com and this layout by Heather Leopard.

LODynskiAugustBesties1

The challenge was to use diagonal lines, so I punched squares of copy paper and hand cut them in half to form triangles. Doing this in analog helps me see how the layout will come together.

LOdynskiAugustBesties2

Looks like this once you have punched all your papers and laid them down over your pattern.

LOdynskiAugustBestie4

Here is a close up of the photo. I import phone photos into Photoshop to check the resolution. Make sure it is at 300DPI resolution for printing. (Sometimes my phone photos get downgraded during import to 72DPI, which isn’t good enough for printing, so I change the resolution and size in Photoshop before I print). I can also change the size in Photoshop and save it as a copy to reserve the original. This one is 2×2 inches.

Close up of the stitching done on all the triangles. The 6×6 Millie and June Paper pad available in the Clique Kits Shop is perfect for smaller scale punched pieces.

Locker Room: Hello

blog-image_locker-room

Hello friends! Leigh, here to share a Locker Room Layout and Process Video for my Hello layout.  I wanted to emphasize the papers in this kit for maximum impact. To do that I chose a white background and different patterns punched into leaf shapes.

LOdynskiAug2016HelloFull

Using a Fiskars palm frond punch, and papers from the 6×6 Millie And June Paper Pad by Fancy Pants Designs to draw your attention to the magenta flowers in the photo.

LOdynskiAug2016HelloLeft

By choosing the magenta pattern as the only solid color background patterned paper for the leaves, it kept the emphasis on that color in the photo. The rest of the fun patterns in the leaves play a supporting role and add interest.

LOdynskiAug2016Helloright

In this close up, you can see how I curled the edges of all the leaves up after stitching them to the layout. I then ran the die cut label from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Snip-its add-ons (available in the Clique Kits Shop)  through my printer to print the journaling.

Art Studio: Cali!

artstudioheader

Hello Friends! Leigh here, to share an Art Studio layout with the gorgeous Rio Kit!

One of the things I love most about Art Studio posts, is that it gives me a chance to try out some new techniques with mixed media. You can use any stencil or art screen to create this technique.

LOdynskiAug2016CaliLayout

You can see the script on the white background card stock, that was created with a Heidi Swapp art screen and some texture paste. I love the subtle tone on tone effect it gave, and it almost looks like the paper came that way.

LOdynskiAug2016CaliLayoutbottom

Next, you can layer on some papers from the kit. I chose to keep with an achromatic color scheme, which is all neutrals and no colors. There are plenty of black and white options in this month’s kit from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio B sides. Cut in strips, and bend them up after stitching on them.

LOdynski2016CaliLayoutright

You can layer different black and white papers, and the gold die cuts  from the kit  behind the photo to accent it.

Add your title and gold Color Shine and you’re done! Super quick page since the texture paste dries so fast!

Geek Lab: Fresh

geeklab

Hello Clique Friends! Leigh here, to share a Geek Lab tutorial using one of the citrus cut files for this month! So perfect for summer!

CKLOdynskiAugust2016FreshFullLO

The August 2016 Clique Kits Rio Kit is just so perfectly fresh! Can’t you just taste the citrus flavors now?

7775792_orig

This exclusive cut file is one of many available in the Clique Kits Store for August!

Simply add patterned paper behind the half slices and vary the colors across the page. I love the way this cut file looks when some of the spots are left open, and it is lifted up on foam adhesive.

LOdynskiAugust2016FreshLeftSide

Here you can see the strips of patterned paper were stitched on at the top, and the dimension and texture added by lifting the cut file up off the background card stock.

Close up of the title, also from the Clique Kits August Exclusive Cut files. Those translucent sequins included in this month’s kit are perfect for repeating the transparency of the ice and drink in the photo. The variety of embellishments included this month make it easy to add interest to your page with different textures. LOVE this kit so much!

Yearbook: Summer

Blog Image_Yearbook

Hi friends! Leigh here, to share my Summer layout. Yearbook is all about using everyday, and multiple photos on a page. So I enlarged a photo of our backyard, and decided on some smaller supporting photos.

LOdynskiJuneSummerFullPage

I love using photo enlargements, but often times have trouble designing a layout around them, so I was inspired by a Nancy Damiano layout about the beach, link here. I painted the back of the the clear acrylic embellishments included in the June Clique Kits. Love that your get an entire package of these Jillibean Soup acrylic shapes.

PhotocollageJune4_2016

Above is the 8×10 photo paper I printed at home with multiple photos for this layout. The larger one is 8×6 and the smaller ones are 2×2. No worries about the two smaller photos not being the same size, you can simply trim the larger photo to the same size as the smaller one and mat them on white card stock. No one will ever know!

LOdynskiJuneSummerTitleCloseUp

You can see how I used foam letter stickers for the title. Just traced around them, then adhered the patterned paper on top and used the sticker part to adhere to the page.

Locker Room: Little Moments

Blog Image_Locker Room

Hello Friends! Leigh here, with another take on one of the exclusive cut files for June. I love how Kim used this cut file yesterday, and love that we all can get such different looks with the same supplies!

LOdynskiJune2016LittleMomentsFullPage

Follow the step by step directions below to recreate this layout.

LOdynskiJune2016LittleMomentsStepone

Step One: Trace and resize the cut file, and place strategically on your page. I just kept resizing and moving them around until I liked the layout, and could imagine my photo nestled in at the bottom right of the page. Cut it out!

LOdynskiJune2016LittleMomentsStepTwo

Step Two: Stitch it! Pick three of the cuts to stitch as shown.

LOdynskiJune2016LittleMomentsStep3

Step Three: Back with different Elle’s Studio patterns from the gorgeous June kit, spacing out similar colors across the layout.

LOdynskiJune2016LittleMomentsStepFour

Step Four: Select embellishments, wood veneer, and punch fringe flowers from your June Clique Kits. Coordinate similar colors in the centers of all your cut files.

LOdynskiJune2016LittleMomentsFullPage

Step Five: Add your photo, tags, and title. I chose to use dimensional foam to make a pocket behind the photo to hide my journaling on the tag.

Art Studio: Bits of Happy Layout

artstudioheader

Hello friends! Leigh here, to share an Art Studio layout for June. The exclusive cut files and kit contents this month are amazing!

LOdynksiJuneBitsFullLayout

Bits Layout, with Whipped Spackle by Faber Castell texture paste from the Clique Kits Store.

LOdynskiJuneTexturepaste

The first steps of this layout involve adding texture to your page, using one of the exclusive cut files for June as a stencil to place your texture paste. Punch varying sizes of circles and patterns from your kit. I chose to use the Elle’s Studio coordinating stamp from the Clique Kits Store to add a few dark and light pink circle elements. Simply lay out your circles without adhesive first to achieve a pleasing arrangement, then add the stamped images behind some of the punched circles. This adds lots of texture and interest to your page.

LOdynskJuneStitchingcloseup

You can add stitching and bend up the edges of your punched circles for more dimension.

LOdynskiJuneBitsDieCutFile

Next, place the exclusive succulent cut file, and adhere just the center, so the edges lift up off the page. You can size the cut file to fit the page you prefer, here it is reduced in size to span the width of an 8.5×11 layout. You can cut it twice to fit across the layout, and don’t worry, you won’t see the gap once the next layers are added.

LOdynskiJuneBitsPhotoTag

Now, you can trim down your favorite papers from the kit to layer behind your photo with the tag. Have fun coordinating them to your photo, and letting different layers peek out randomly. Print your journaling and add the Pinkfresh Studio Glitter Word Stickers for the title.

LOdynskiJuneBitsembellish

Next, you can add the asterisk shapes from the Glitter Word Sticker pack, and enamel dots and ink splatters as your final embellishments. Layer it up and have fun!

Study Hall: OXOXO

study-hall1

Hello Clique Kits friends! Leigh here, with a layout focusing on an easy technique, to highlight how we can use the shapes on patterned papers to bring emphasis to our scrapbook page’s theme. We can think about what story we want to tell about a photo, and that can lead us to a theme for our page. In this instance, The March cut file with the painterly circles, reminded me of  frosting on the top of cupcakes. I had a photo of my daughter to scrapbook about a day we visited “Sprinkles” cupcakes!

LOdynskiMarch2016_OXOXOFullPage4075071_orig

Here is the cut file used on this page. Love the circles, and the fact that they look painted! Reminds me of cupcake frosting- at least when I frost cupcakes! This was the starting point of the design and led to the idea to use a portion of this cut file as a stencil to add gloss gel that would resemble frosting. I kept the farthest three rows on the right to use on this page, and used the other side as a stencil. Simply add gloss gel or Whipped Spackle, colored with gelatos that match your papers. You could skip the mixing and just use heavy bodied acrylic paint from the Mixed Media section of the Clique Kits Store, to add through the cut file stencil. Pick a few of the circles and frost away!

LOdynskiMarch2016_OXOXOCloseUp3

Close up of the gloss gel that I sprinkled with shaped glitter. Looks like a cupcake to me!

LOdynskiMArch2016_OXOXOCloseUp1

This is where the shapes in your patterned paper connect to the theme of your page. The far right exclusive paper, designed for Clique Kits, was perfect to resemble wonky circles and sprinkles! The patterned papers in this month’s kit have an artsy modern vibe , and are perfect for reinforcing the theme! Simply back all of your circles with a variety of different patterns in large and small scales. So fun!

LOdynskiMarch2016_OXOXOCloseUp2

Once the circles are filled, then work on the photo section of your layout. I chose a few of the cut apart cards from the Goldie collection in this month’s kit. Layer them behind your photo, then add a vellum pocket with a tag for more journaling. Choose some adorable embellishments from this month’s kit to add to the top left with a bow tie clip.

LOdynskiMarch2016_OXOXOSneakPeek1

Then add the title directly underneath the photo, and a label from the exclusive die cut pack for some of your journaling and date. The Maggie Holmes sequin shapes pack from last month (February) was added to create the title. Flair from last month as well.

12733602_10205531807949835_3250930389977660588_nI can’t wait to see what you guys create with this amazing kit! Seriously, amazing! Have fun!

Yearbook: Sparkle

Blog Image_Yearbook

Hi friends in the Clique! Leigh here today, to share a layout that documents the everyday, candid moments. Don’t you just love the unposed and candid shots that capture your loved ones personality?? I sure do!

LOdynskiMarch2016_SparkleFullPage

Using the February Hot Mess Kit for this 12×12 page. There are still plenty of Add-ons that coordinate with the February kit in the Clique Kits Store here.

LOdynskiMarch2016_SparkleStitching

Here you can see the hand stitching added to the three triangular pieces inside the circle cut file. I made my own cut file by simply adding a 7.5 inch circle outside of a 7 inch circle on my Silhouette. Of course, you could trace a plate or bowl if you don’t have an electronic die cutting machine. Back your cut file with 3 different patterned card stocks from the Maggie Holmes Shine collection. Pierce holes along the edge between each piece and hand stitch.

LOdynskiMarch2016_Sparkle_Rightcluster

As you can see above on the full page photo, you can pick three areas to splatter some black paint or mist, or india ink. Then, add a variety of embellishment types from your kit to those three areas. Paper die cuts, stickers, chipboard, and foam stickers are what I chose.

LOdynskiMarch2016_SparkleLeftCluster

At the top left cluster, add more embellishment variety here, and attach one of them to the top left of your photo to connect everything.

LOdynskiMarch2016_SparkleCloseup2

Then, nestle your title at the bottom of the circle. This title is from the Jen Hadfield “Die Cut Glitter Words” pack from the add-ons section in the Clique Kits Store.

This was such a lovely kit to work with, and I can’t wait to see what you guys make with it!! See the February Hot Mess Kit here! Thank you.

Yearbook: Music Today

Blog Image_Yearbook

Hello Clique Friends! Leigh here, and I’m so excited to be back  and sharing today!  This kit has the much anticipated “Goldie” collection and I could not be more excited! Love it! The cut files this month are absolutely perfect, and how adorable are those cassettes?

LOdynskiMarch_2016MusicTodayFullLAyout

The papers and kit contents are so seriously fun. How perfect are those holographic letter stickers? They resemble the reflective surface of a CD, and look amazing on a page!

LOdynskiMArch_2016MusicTodayProcess2

You can cut the cassette tape and the topper separately.  The Goldie patterned papers are amazing!

LOdynskiMarch_2016MusicTodayProcess

Pick your favorite patterns and cut them to 1.5 inches wide by 4 inches high. Then stitch down the middle. Adhere just the centers, and lift up the edges for added dimension.

LOdynskiMarch_2016MusicTodayMacroDimension

Lift up your photo on some dimensional adhesives, like Tombow Foam Tape or foam squares from the Clique Kits Store, so that it doesn’t squash your paper strips.

LOdynskiMarch_2016MusicTodaySneakPeek1

Close up of sequins from  previous kits, and title. Love that flair from this months kit!

Thank you so much for visiting today! Check out the new goodies in the Clique Kits store and there are some kits still available!
