Happy Monday! (Said no one ever.) Gia here! It really stinks to have to return to real life after getting to scrapbook on the weekend! I love having a kit to work with so that I know even with just a few minutes I can pull out pretty things that catch my eye and go to work creating even with 15 minutes here or an hour there. I decided to get started on this minimalist mini album to hold some of my everyday photos that are piling up. I used a Sodalicious art journal as the base, which we have carried in the Clique Kits store before they sold out! I am a big fan of small handbook size blank books (check out these by Kesi Art in 2 different styles now in the store mixed media shop) because of their simple elegant beauty and the versatility of things you can do with them. I am pretty excited we have ordered some new handmade art journal book designs for the shop-coming soon from a talented 24 year old book-binding artist named Anna Bach who was featured in Martha Stewart weddings ! At the end of the post, I’ll give you a sneak peek! Now without further ado, here is the cover of my mini.
I used one of the We R Memory Keepers Clearly Bold cards to create a pocket for some glitter and sequins.
The stitching keeps the glitter and sequins in and it’s kind of fun to shake around and see where it lands.
Here is the first page of the mini album featuring a crane I die cut from some silver foil cardstock using the awesome Kesi Art crane die that was available as an add on with the March kit. Silver and gold foil card stock is so much fun to die cut-I can’t get enough. I also cut some cranes from vellum, and some deer with antlers from some woodgrain paper-just to vary the textures.
I used a yellow gelato like a crayon to make a random pattern on the white page. Using a water brush I converted the gelato pigment to brushstrokes. It’s a great time to pick up some gelatos in the store on sale for only $5 for a pack of 4. This was my basic background to which I contrasted lots of black and white from the kit. Throughout my book, I have used the Kesi Art labels from my kit as well as these add on sticker labels. Here are some more of my pages.
I am only about halfway through my book, and have not completed all of my journaling. I decided that this post was long enough, so you will have to stay tuned for part II at a later date! In the mean time, as promised, here is a sneak of the new journals we will have in the shop soon, in limited quantities. Clique Kits supports small businesses, indie artists, and our fellow creatives on Etsy. I have been spotting the trend of marbled paper lately in the fashion and surface design world, and I want to bring it to the Clique! You can always count on us to bring you the latest trendiest supplies!
I am hoping to have these journals available in the shop soon! If you like the look of my mini album, here are some more items on sale now you might enjoy!
