Hi!! It’s Donna here and I’m very excited as this is my first ever post here on the CK blog and I really hope you’d like and get inspired by what I will share today.
I just love the February main kit and add-ons. I had a blast creating my projects which I am going to share with you all throughout the month. And I am going to share with you a step-by-step tutorial of how I created my first layout using “Punxsutawney” <<— ain’t that a cool kit name or what? 😉
Okay! Let’s go to the tutorial…
My routine in creating a page is I check out the the papers and embellishments in the kit first to see which ones I’d like to use for background/base, for layering, etc. Once I’m decided, I try to imagine what I’d like my page to look like afterwards. I usually look for a paper where I can fussy cut some of the designs.
As you will find out later on about me, I love flowers. You will see them almost in my projects. For this page, I decided I’d like to have some flowers for dimension. So I took out my fave flower die (Tim Holtz tattered floral dies) and created some. Spraying a bit of water to the die cut flowers makes shaping them easier.
I use an embossing tool and a thick foam to shape the die cut flowers
I used a white cardstock for my background, sprayed some Heidi Swapp Color shine as you can see in the image below
After fussy cutting the gorgeous flower prints in one of the papers in the kit, I placed them onto my background as well as the photo I will use and some of the embellishments. These are not adhered yet, I just wanted to see if the idea in my head will actually work.
I made these banners as flags by attaching them to a toothpick. I wrapped a strip of paper to the toothpick as well.
I did some distressing on the two paper mats using the edge of my scissors since I don’t have a distresser/distress tool.
After I am satisfied with the placement in my layout, I start to adhere them on my base cardstock. As you can notice, I love layering and clustering. You will see this in almost of my pages/projects in the future.
another small cluster here. I used some Prima flowers from my stash.
the whole page…
I hope you liked my page and it inspired you to create! See you soon!
