Hey Clique fans!  We hope you have been enjoying the January 2015 kit Tailor Made featuring Amy Tangerine’s Stitched collection.  This month we included a super adorable heart die in the kit from Waffle Flower Crafts and also have a stamp set and star die as a January Add-on.  We are so in love with Waffle Flower Crafts we just had to have them as our January Designer in the Spotlight!

Q.  Can you tell us a little bit about your creative process?
A.   I usually start a project by trying something new… It can be a new product, a new technique , a new type of crafts, or a new color combination. Sometimes I will have something very specific in mind but most of the times, I just play and see what I will get.
Q.  Where and when are you most creative?
A.   Alone at home in my little craft cave – a small closet attached to my office.
Q.  What are some of your must have supplies?
A.   A scoring board, a bone folder, scissors, stamps and inks!
Q.  Who are some of your influences?
A.  As for product designing, inspiration from my other hobbies, my everyday life and my past experience defines my design. I try not to take inspiration from other stamp designers. It is hard to tell whether you were inspired or you copied a design. I’m actually trying to avoid “trends” unless we are one of the first or we can make it different and unique.
Q.  3 things people probably do not know about you.
A. – I wasn’t big on pink until I started making cards. Now I cannot put my hot pink inkpad down!
– I am stuck at Candy Crush Level 254 for 2 months now. When can I get a free pass again?
– Neither my husband nor I cook, so all you can find in our fridge are diet coke, yogurt, milk, orange juice and baby carrots.
Favorite:
Book:  I like reading technical manuals… Does it count?
Movie:  Léon: The Professional by Luc Besson
Candy:  Dark Chocolate
Drink:  Diet Coke
Music:  Alternative (I don’t know what it means, it is what my iTunes says)
Color:  Emerald Green, Hot Pink and Sunshine Yellow
TV Show:  Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)
Q.   How long have you been designing stamp sets and dies and what inspired you to get started?
A.  I’ve been playing with computer drawing programs for 15 years. I cannot draw by hand but I can make the lines work on a computer 🙂 I made a few box templates to share on my blog when I first started blogging. The templates got popular and it encouraged me to learn more. I was first offered the opportunity to design stamps and dies back in spring, 2013 after joining a manufacture design team.
Q.  Where did the name of your company Waffle Flower Crafts come from?
A. It was more than a decade ago, I took an Adobe Illustrator class at school. I combined a few tricks I learned and ended up with something similar to what we have in our logo now while attempting to draw a sunflower. LOL
Q.  We love your product packaging.  Can you share how you came up with the color and design of your packaging?
A.  Oh, the packaging?! Thank you for the compliment! I started by trying to follow what some of my favorite stamp companies were doing but I couldn’t find a supplier that carries the same clear bag… I had to choose a different bag size which led me to try to be totally different from all the others. It was a risky choice but I got nothing to lose. I’m glad that you like it! I think the packaging says something about me and why I am doing this. I just want it to be “fun” and “happy”.
Nina, Thank you so much for taking the time to share a little bit about yourself with our fans!  We are so excited to include your products in this months kit and we hope you enjoy the projects our team has created using your products!
We hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about the face behind Waffle Flower Crafts.  Head on over to their website, Facebook Page and remember to follow them on Instagram!
